Dude, old Rock Hopper’s like that are actually quite popular in the bike-packing and alternative cycling communities. They aren’t really used for trail riding anymore except for those who want a challenge or the nostalgia, but people often make these into some sick gravel bikes and bike-packing ATBs.
I’ve upgraded mine. 4piston brakes, dropper, air fork, pedals & grips so far. Loving it and it’s been on about 200 miles of green, blue and black trails. I’m also 200lbs. It’s about time for some more upgrades to keep riding hard lol.
This bike is a unicorn and they just made it better with the M.2 version. Totally upgradeable and made in Taiwan NOT China. Taiwan was under Japanese rule from 1895 to 1945 throughout their entire industrial revolution and their industrial standards are on another level across the board compared to mainland China.
I seen you threw a diff fork next before a dropper id upgrade to some hydro brakes shimano mt200's or tektro m275 good decent ones to name a couple i got the tektros on my 2024 specialized rockhopper sport
Liked your review ... I'm looking to buy one, and you definitely sold me on this.. mind you how tall are you and what's the bike size, is it a larger frame or small?

I’ll keep that in mind if I ever do something like that maybe a future build coming.

Brakes and a dropper are definitely the next upgrades
PSA - wear a helmet. No helmet = no ride.

I’m a smidge taller than CJ.
Can’t speak for his arm length.
But once I adjusted the bars and seat, the bike felt like it was designed to fit me.
