One thing the anime left out is that Kazutora has always been mentally unstable, there was a lot of abuse from his dad and both parents would make him choose sides. His dad was a hardcore gaslighter and manipulator, that's why when Kazutora did that to Mikey's brother he suddenly flipped. He couldn't cope with what he did knowing it would hurt Mikey, so he flipped the script and started gaslighting everyone, mainly himself, into believing that it was on purpose and that Mikey was his enemy. It was easier to accept that he hurt someone close to his enemy than it was to believe he did that to one of his best friends. Of course, the juvie he went to didn't help, it only antagonized the situation and when he got out both Hanma and Kisaki took advantage of his mental state and started manipulating him. Now he believes that if he offs Mikey everything will be ok, he wouldn't have to remember what he did to Mikey and his brother because the world would go on like they never existed. Also the part CJ got wrong was about the Moped, Mikey didn't kick the bike because he wanted a reason to fight, he kicked it because Baji got hurt trying to defend it. To Mikey his friends are family. and that feeling runs deep among some of the others as well.
