My late Dad took me to the movies and I watched this film, when I was still a kid. For me, it is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
for me 2
Likewise
Perfect movie. Beautiful scenery. Good love story. Perfect actor and actress. They don't make movies like they used to in 1952. What a shame to Hollywood.
One of my favorite movie. Cinematography near perfection.
This is the first movie to feature the 20th Century-Fox Fanfare with CinemaScope Extension.
Robert Mitchum....great actor
April 21, 2020 ~ I have always loved this movie but never realized how true the Lyrics were til my Brother at age 28 died on "The River Of No Return". He was a white water river guide on the Middle fork of the Salmon River Idaho. That day was the 4Th of July 1976 our countries 200th anniversary. He'll never return to me!
Condolences.
So sorry to hear that. God Bless you and your family.
I doubt another movie can be found where Marilyn sings and wears blue jeans! Oddly through all that turmoil her classic coiffure remains undisturbed!!!
This film, as I have been lead to believe, is the film in which we first hear the iconic CinemaScope Extension for the already iconic 20th Century Fox fanfare.
0:14 A legend is born.
Troubled set, difficult shoot, gorgeous scenery, mediocre script, macho Mitchum, Marilyn acting up on set vs acting on film, Prima Donna Preminger, and young Tommy Rettig taking it all in stride. Throw in Rory Calhoun as the bad guy, and Ernie Ford singing the title song, and it all comes together. The film made a healthy profit for Fox, thanks partly to the drawing power of Monroe (although she considered it her worst film). But it’s been one of my favorites for many years, and the blu ray is awesome!
It was Robert Mitchum who sang throughout the movie the river of no return
No it wasn't, it was Ernie Ford.
Tennessee Ernie Ford made 2 different recordings of the song. The first is the version here on the movie soundtrack, then Capitol jumped on the popularity of the song by having Ford record a new version for record release which is slightly different.. Personally, I prefer his movie version. Robert Mitchum was a singer who could carry a tune but his voice was not in the class of T..E. Ford
Robert Mitchum - one of my favorite actors. Tennessee Ernie Ford - one of my favorite singers. River Of No Return - one of my favorite movies! Great upload - THANK YOU!
i think that is robert mitchum singing the song. i've heard ernie ford's recording, but mitchum had a good singing voice.
@@jamessilvano5115 Mitchum had a GOOD singing voice, but Ernie Ford had a GREAT singing voice. Believe me Tennessee Ernie sang this song. It doesn't even sound like Bob Mitchum. He was good on "Thunder Road" (and I don't know why he used Randy Sparks recording instead of his own for that movie) and he was good in "Rachael and the Stranger" and who could forget his singing in "Night of the Hunter", but "River of No Return" is owned by Ernie Ford (and Marilyn Monroe of course). Mitchum NEVER recorded this song.
@@jamessilvano5115 Yes, you are correct: Robert Mitchum A & E Biography 2001 - states Robert Mitchum sang the title song of River of No Return right here: At the 21:50 mark: ua-cam.com/video/L5OiPHeZvI4/v-deo.html. Also, River of no Return Movie was released in April 29, 1954 while the T.E.F. song with the orchestra and chorus conducted by Billy May was May 31, 1954 - a month after the movie was released in U.S
@@wadeharris3535 Sorry it's NOT Mitchum singing. Tennessee Ernie Ford was what you call a "ghost singer". Along with Burl Ives and others they recorded songs for a movie, but weren't given any credit for their singing. I can't believe anyone would think this is Robert Mitchum. It sounds NOTHING like him, but sounds A LOT like the Ol' Peapicker Tennessee Ernie. I wonder why?
@@60Cascade Yes, you are wrong:: Robert Mitchum A & E Biography 2001 - states Robert Mitchum sang the title song of River of No Return right here: At the 21:50 mark: ua-cam.com/video/L5OiPHeZvI4/v-deo.html. 素晴らしい!!
タイトルと歌を聴いただけで泣きそうなくらい。
劇中マリリンが歌ったが、
本当に素敵だった!!
ラストシーンも忘れられない映画です。
Thank you so much !!
Great singing by Robert Mitchum
Not Robert Mitcham singing it's Tennnessse Ernie Ford he had a hit with this song
0:14- And thus, an epicly well-known fanfare was born.
Great movie. Directed by Otto Preminger.

Fanatik Film - E, Fox, T7GZ Distribution (on behalf of MovieCon)
Is there some reason, like copyright infringement, that UA-cam doesn't download this wonderful movie so old dogs like me can enjoy it, and young people can see what a great movie is supposed to look like??
What a lovely voice, as well as a dam good actor
That was Ernie Ford singing.
Gladys Monroe's
daughter---Marilyn 💋. Stars in a 1950 television break of about a half minute. The star spoke "Cynthia" three times; "Royal Triton" two times. By the middle of the 1950s my father is a new school's first Principal. It has new teams with the new name "ROYALS".
The Principal of a school with teams called Royals, also was given an April Fool's Day baby name---Cynthia!
When Cynthia's preteen years are PAST; and I am a 15.5 year old with a driver's permit folded up in my wallet, on the cushion of a new dirt-bike an adult cannot act as supervisor on. We coordinate her new horse activities between the horse stalls for rent, and our La Habra, California tract home of suburban Los Angeles.
Love this song and still do but I the only one who robert mitchum sung it?
Thought sorry typo😊
Before Saul Bass Collaborated with Otto..
love
It's a shame Tennessee Ernie Ford was not given credit in the movie for the theme song.
You are so right, he has a beautiful voice
1954 !
Quelle est la différence entre voir et regarder ?
Fox : renard
River of no return : le mariage qui est une justice sociale qu'etablit l'homme pour lui même dans la manifestation du genre féminin sur toutes les choses
It is a disgrace how this movie ignores an attempt of rape on the character played by Marilyn Monroe.
