  • What is the working principle of a peristaltic pump?
The rollers/shoes move fluid through the hose or tube, so there is no need for degassing valves. The rollers/shoes squeeze the tube to prevent backflow, removing the need for mechanical seals, creating a seal-less system. The rollers/shoes compress the hose and eliminate internal back-flow through the pump, and works like a ‘rotary pinch valve’ with ±1% repeatability.
The movement of the roller/shoe rotation controls the direction of fluid flow, resulting in not needing internal valves. Albin hose pumps are self-prime/dry prime, which prevents off-gassing lock-ups that are may occur with sodium hypochlorite applications. Albin Pump peristaltic pumps can dry run without harming the pump or hose.
Selecting the best hose or tube is important to guarantee long life and a low maintenance system. The inner lining of the hose/tube is the only surface that comes into contact with the fluid being transferred. Albin Pump offers many material options depending on your pumping solution needs.
