- How to set up the XCP and take posterior periodical radiographs. Even though this video is using a film XCP kit, you can follow similar techniques for digital radiographs with a sensor. Setting up an XCP kit correctly for dental radiographs is the first step to proper images.

I’m going to school for dental Assistant and I’m confused after taking X-rays how to mount everything together and what do you guys mean about the dot??
I’m struggling with xrays right now, and I’m close to the end of my program. It’s 12 weeks. I start week 9 next week. I’m still having trouble putting the holders together too, and where the dot should be depending on the section I’m doing.

When taking PA's, this is what i learned, you should not follow the ring, it won't get the apex, you're supposed to angle the PID a little higher for you to be able to get the apex. trust me, i did this is at work today i followed the ring and it didn't get the apex. Ring is only good for when taking bitewings, but when taking BW, you're supposed to angle the PID a little bit to the left or right depends on which side you are to open the contacts, or else you will get overlap.

Yes!!! I’m in school right now. I couldn’t get teeth number 24-25 8-9 even though I was following the aiming ring. So yes I then angled my PID slightly higher and it was a success!!! Learned after ruining like 4 traditional films 😿
I finish my DA program next week, and this is very helpful! My instructor has a very thick accent therefore it’s difficult sometimes to understand and sometimes isn’t as clear either.

I have an x-ray/radiation course on November 12th and then I have my 2nd x-ray/radiation course on November 19th and November 19th is when I'm supposed to receive my x-ray/radiation certificate. I'm so excited and anxious, I can't wait to take it so I been studying as much as I can and watching as many FMX UA-cam videos as I can because I am determined to pass with positivity. @@FlowerTaneofamliy Hey 👋🏼 the radiation course turned out great i was so nervice lol but I passed so this video really helped 😃 I had to take FMX on 3 patients in my office and it was all digital which was so much better and easier. After I took the FMX's (I did them on my coworkers and my coworkers husband) then the second course I brought another patient and took an FMX on him. So all together (because I had to practice on some manikins as well) I had take FMX's on 6 patients and the FMX's had to be of good quality. It was a bit challenging and stressful but I finally got it done lol now I just need my sealants certification but unfortunately I have to wait till next year because all of the courses got filled up so fast 😩. @@FlowerTaneofamliy it was 18 films that I had to take per patient but it was all digital idk if that makes since lol sorry I just thought about that 😅 and I had to take a written multiple choice exam in the first class which was really easy, however, this one girl kept trying to cheat off of my test. She kept trying to ask for the answers (it was an open book by the way 🤣🤣🤣) yea she was so annoying I was like foreal girl it's right in front of you lol. My advice is don't over think it and think positive 😊

I agree with the anterior pa. Maybe showing a full FMX, your series, etc. I suck at FMX ands my angulation.
saylorsiam I feel you!! FMX are the only xrays I do and it gets stressful for me to perform. I get discouraged bc the DA training me can be a b***h

Remember these demo videos are quite drawn out procedure is much quicker.
you are lucky , I find it hurts every time as I have been told my mouth and ears and jugular vein etc and so on are rather small. I find they hurt badly for me every time.

I have to do this again today and I have the worst gag reflex. Why couldn't they make something easier than this? I already feel nauseous.
Literally in the same boat. I always gag doing this and I'm panicking knowing I have to do this again soon.

You don’t have to do it nobody can force you
Another thing I’ve noticed is the way in which the rod is facing. The angle should always be towards you, not in the inside or the patient may gag!!

Can you just move the film a little bit to the left, instead of dead center on the bite block when taking a maxillary right periapical to get a better shot of the 3rd molar or tuberosity area? I'm having issues getting that 3rd molar, the teacher said we have to go more back but I feel like I'm hurting the patient or he is about to gag
That happened to me yesterday and they said I had to come back because my blood pressure was too high and I have a lot of bone in my mouth. And it was hurting

Yes, even better they a placed in a cold sterilization solution.
Yes, we put them between our ass cheeks to sterilize them. No worries.
Why are you placing the film on the tongue? The film should not be on the tongue, the film should be beside the tongue. You are not getting the film "as close to the teeth" with it resting on the tongue and having them close.
Agreed that "as close as possible" is always best. If it is very painful to the patient then resting it on the tongue for comfort is a good option. If this is the case you may also have to increase the KVP. Best of luck Jill.

the film should not be was close as possible. You are using parallel technique, so the film should be placed far from tooth.

My dentist made me feel like it was being shoved to the back of my throat, my gagging may have been a response to this but I'm not sure and if I saw this video beforehand we would of gotten xrays done but not and now my teeth are still in agony

Felt like a Torture chamber to me. These are awful. My first were done today and years ago this was not how they took a X-Ray It was not this painful .

I was meant to feel like an idiot by some nurses who just couldnt get to make me this simple procedure. My mouth is very small i have jaw diformaty i was a long neck . There are ways to do this they just need to see every patient is different from an anatomy point of view
I would love you to answer, I know it's been a while since this PA video, but I can not place the film for molars, a patient has lost some of them many years ago and also has a tiny mouth. The film seems so big, and children's movies seem too small. She feels like vomiting also when I place it. What I can do?

The dental assistant did this to me yesterday, I thought why is it hurting the roof of my mouth, did she place it in wrong or something, but now I see. Why can't they have some type of cushion on it for when you do bite down?.

I don't understand why she put the film beside the tongue instead of side of teeth, I never do this and I worry about the film get the black pic because of tongue block behind the teeth.

the film only captures the bone, teeth, and any restorative in the mouth, it won't capture the tongue and gums.
