BRILLIANT SAW HER AT LATITUDE FESTIVAL FANTASTIC LIVE REALLY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC FROM THE HEART AND SOUL. HAD GOOSE BUMPS WHILE LISTENING SIGN OF SOMETHING AMAZING COS IT WAS BOILING HOT IN THAT THERE TENT , AH BUH!!!
I don’t know her family line but as a black Surinamese person who was born and raised here I must say I always find it insanely triggering seeing white people waving with our flag and referring to Suriname as “their” country as I saw on her Instagram. Especially when you think about our history with colonization. Whenever white people refer to Suriname as their country they often decent from the Boeren aka the slaveowners back in the day. Again don’t know her family line but damn it triggered me💔
@@riverdorfsee4324 I can imagine. I'm half Hindustani-Surinamese, so I thought possibly she's mixed as well. But you can never really tell 100%. It's a bit odd if she's not... Also, correct me if I'm wrong. I've always thought that the boeroes were 19th century farmers that moved to Surinam to work. A separate group from the slave-owning whites that were already there. But I might be mistaken so please do correct me!
@@ellocoavs No maybe you're completely right gonna look into that! And you're right I'm Creole- Surinamese and you can never really tell someones heritage since Suriname is a huge melting pot anyway 🇸🇷🇸🇷
i cry when i hear same damn luck.
Same Damn Luck - 0:00 - 3:49
Crash - 3:49 - 7:21
Day 7 - 7:22 - 11:12
Rid of Me (PJ Harvey cover) - 11:13 - 14:59
I love her deep voice 😍
Right?! Her voice is so rich, deep, ethereal, yet a bit wistful and sullen. Absolutely lovely. 🤗
🥰👍
This is so beautiful and embodies my favorite word: saudade.
I am surprised it is still at 30k, I must have watched it a million times
She is super talented and I have to say, I liked this performance much more than the Tiny Desk one.
Nilüfer'cim ne kadarda büyümüşsün. Maşallah. Babangile selamlar :)
That was an awesome version of Rid of Me!
Wow. Could watch this 100x the magic between you two is tangible
Genial , jazzy, soulful! Perfect voices ! Great musicians !!

I find it overbearing
I think it's frustrating
Just my luck, it's in my blood
I find it overwhelming
I think it's perplexing
Had enough of staying in touch
It's the same damn luck
You're staying in touch
I pray every single time
That you blow that kiss, I hope you miss
It's the same damn luck
I pray every single time
That we'll stay in touch (x2)

I didn't expecting I am gonna love this much💗💗
My favorite version of Same Damn Luck that I found all over UA-cam. Just special..
There is also something reminiscent of Joan Arbitrading in her voice that is heavenly. A sonic love letter.
No offense, its "Armatrading". But thanks for bringing that to mind - that was my missing link!
(two mental itches scratched at once! :))

Surinamese flag in the background feels a bit random! I wonder what the story is there :)
