The *POSSIBLE* negatives thus far: - Physics and momentum look a bit too heavy - Rail grinding bits, which always errs towards either full auto-play OR "do nothing for 5 to 10 seconds and then press jump at the right time". Unneeded and unasked for in a classic-inspired 2D game - Needless boost pads in some platforms (which errrs towards auto-play + physics not being on-point) - Some gameplay segments look a bit too barren and like a straight-ish line, as opposed to filled with objects, landmarks, enemies, vegetation, etc, AND -- more importantly -- pathway options (like the classics and Mania) - Models are a bit too "chibi" and "cute" miniaturizations, as opposed to the timeless, lean, cool toei-like inspired art-vision we had in the 90s (see: Sonic 2 and its japanese manual, Sonic CD, Sonic 3K) Wait and see, but these are valid concerns. There's still time, so to voice these apprehensions might cause a bit of a shift in direction. We already saw the same happening to a certain degree in Frontiers
Definitely valid concerns...but I'm feeling real positive at the moment for it. News has come since about the retro engine working properly with it, so thats good
In terms of how classic sonic plays it looks great. Fluid, momentum based, just like the old games. But, all the new stuff may end up killing it if they don’t control well. There’s also the worry of bugs of course but none the less, I’m very excited as I thought mania would be the last classic sonic game.
Good video! Straightforward, no BS, sound conjecture. I'm cautiously optimistic/optimistically apprehensive about the game right now. I sure as hell hope the physics feel good.
I remember there was an old rumor about Sega working on a new 2D Sonic with a new character, that would start the game as a villain, but "will switch side at end". Also, Superstars is most likely being developed internally at Sonic Team/Dimps. Otherwise Sega would have made known that the Mania team is working on it. They held this information in the trailed most likely because they know Sonic fans are biased againist Dimps and Sonic Team. Evening Star is busy working in their own 3D platformer. Headcanon is working on Origins Plus.
@@mastertrainergaming Leaked gameplay footage from SGF revealed Sonic Superstars is being developed by Sonic Team and Arzest, Naoto Oshima's independent studio.
IGN Japan has a full gameplay of the jungle level it looks pretty good! Also I think you can see the new character with Fang at the end but I don’t know for sure if it’s the new character.
Yeah there is no way im getting this for 60 dollars lmao I'm definitely gonna wait till Christmas sales come around, unless they REALLY put in either some awesome new feature that makes it worth it or make the game really long
I did see that IGN Japan’s UA-cam page uploaded a 10 minute video of pure gameplay of the Forrest stage. Really looking great, however my main concern while watching was the sound design. A majority of the sound effects, and the music is re-used. And the new music (mainly the boss theme) is rather bland in my opinion. I don’t really care about re-used sound fx. But I hope they’ll make actual original music for this game, otherwise that would really suck. (Edit: I finally figured out what the track was, it’s White Park Zone 2 from Sonic 4 Episode 2. Like, of all tracks why this one for the Forrest stage?)
Its all placeholder. So with the gameplay footage, they leave the music out but the SFX in. This means that can chop and cut the footage to suit them without having the music chop and change with it (which creates dissonance and awakward videos).
@@four_.._. Things change? Fang has been playable in spin offs, who knows dude. Having seen the new character, I'm more inclined to think its them though.
i do not see massive potential for a sonic game coming out in novmber where the bad sonic games go like frontiers and forces and 06 i like sonic but it's hard to be impresed by sonic games when i can see the reviews and how bad it's going to be in my head so i and none of you guys should be hype for an prob bad sonic game coming in novmber
A rather pessimistic view, but we have been burnt by Sega before so I understand. Hands on previews are coming in and inhere are a lot of people saying how good it is, and that it feels closer to Mania as far as handling goes. So I think that rather than talk it all up in your head and assume it's going to be terrible, go with a more open mind.

Glad you enjoyed! I appreciate the kind words!
Sonic Superstars looks fantastic and with the classic sonic i think this can be considered the real Sonic the Hedgehog 4
I'm personally thinking of it as it's own thing. Sonic 4 can remain as a sordid reminder of a bad time
This really looks amazing
So pretty!
I know it looks cool!
Wow it really IS expensive 😮😢
Yeah, but as long as the game is quality I'm fine with it
I mean it’s the same price of the new super Mario games and Kirby games so it’s really not that crazy but damn I was really hoping for $20

Interesting stuff! And you're right. We would have been bombarded with info on the Mania team being involved.

Ive seen the animated intro footage from Sonic Stadium, thats got to be the new character. I'm surprised that they're in the demo tbh

Wait does this mean we get more DLC for froniters this month too?
I do believe so!
Since it includes sonic's birthday i believe it will come out on the 23rd of this month
Hopefully we get to see Mighty and Ray again.
people acting like mario oddysey wasnt $60:
Mario Odyssey was $80 here, Sonic will be $100. Its a rough one.
As long as there is good gameplay and quality content, the price tag is fine

One thing is, why would they make fang playable when he is teaming up with robotnik?
Why did they make Knuckles playable when he was originally teaming up with Eggman?
Things can change. Perhaps he turns sides?

The beta Sonic CD special stages look awfully similar to the Sonic 1 esque special stage 😉

I will not buy the game if it is less than 6 hours long
6 hours for one playthrough of a 2D Sonic game?
Long as it doesn’t suck like generation I might pick it up
See I (for the most part) liked the 2D parts of Generations. At least the physics worked (again for the most part)
