Another great video from you! You have just shown me what I need to know to buy and fly my former childhood confidence-breaker, a diamond kite. Looking forward to ordering one!
Excellent video editing Jim. Your instructions are clear and simple. It's interesting how the simple skills of flying a kite seams to becoming lost to the current generation. You have reminded me to fly some of my diamond kites again.
Kites differ greatly from each other, and each has its own characteristics, so I have no advice to offer on adjustments that can be generally useful. I always just experiment if a kite is flying badly and try to come up with a solution. Often adding a tail (or replacing the tail with a better one) is the best way to get a kite to behave well. See my video here: ua-cam.com/video/v0eFjYo4eBw/v-deo.htmlsi=VkMxlajx3Jm4j2sg .
I should carry some cards with this URL! When I see a new kite flier struggling it is usually tail, reversed dihedral or connecting to their line. You hit them all! (I like to grab plastic construction tape- like “danger” or “no parking” and roll it up and share it... I wonder how many feet of it is flying over Ohio!?)
The big problem I think is that most kite buyers, certainly in the lower-price area, don't want to bother finding out information that would help them. Everyone already knows everything these days, or so they think. It's great that you help some of them with their problems, Steve, and I hope they are grateful.
They help on most kites, but I have no idea what kite you have, so I can't say for sure. Having a suitable wind and a good place to fly with no buildings or trees around is important, but if the kite goes up but is unstable then the tail would be a good next step.
A great video , Jim. So many beautiful designs can be had with a diamond--very colorful group you had. And the girls...were the same little girls we saw some time ago coloring their kites? An ITW video?
@@JimNicholls Our weather is poor , as well. Tonight , though , offered a beautiful sunset of snow clouds mixed with sunlit landscapes of the distance farms. A nice pop of color before the day ended. I still enjoyed seeing those diamonds , though. All quality too with the sewn designs.. That was a good share and I am sure helpful to someone that knows nothing of kites , in general... So thanks for sharing that ..I intend to share it on some facebook message friends later tonight.

Diamonds can be difficult, but a good tail solves most problems. Have fun!
I bought one after watching this. I’ve flown it 3 times, works great!
Great to hear! I hope you're having a lot of fun, Sanjay.

I hope you'll remember to fly them the right way up this time, Carl!
I really love these kite videos, thank you for sharing them. Hope to fly my kite tomorrow if it’s windy enough. 🌬 🪁
Good to hear from you. I hope you have fun with your kite, and that there is enough wind (but not too much!)
What a great video!! It explains how the kite should be shaped, how to launch it, plus other tips and tricks. It's also really nicely edited. A+
Glad it was helpful!
I like your video. Do you have tips on how to adjust lines attachment, tails in order to change fly characteristics?

I got a kite from Walmart and I’m having a hard time getting it up, would a fringed tail help with that?

What is the measurements of the kite?
There are many different sizes of diamonds, and the ones in this video cover a large range of sizes.

Thanks, Priscilla. Same girls - it's all old footage as I haven't been able to fly recently due to our unfavourable weather.
