Dii the charges of travelling are very high like from india to us or European countries ..my question is did they pay the traveling charges or u have to pay??
Depends on individual preferences. For biology, time taken to finish PhD is minimum 5 years in both India and US. But the ordering process is much faster here. Good institutes have more resources, which is true for India also. Research funding is better here. I will make a detailed video on the differences I felt after coming from an Indian research environment. Personally, I didn't want to spend 5 years of PhD plus additional years of postdoc outside of India. But if you know you want to go outside for postdoc, coming here for PhD might give you a good exposure to the research environment here.
Dii , I somewhere read that One must register for mit in 12th halfway session . I am preparing jee 2026 and Have not won any olympiads . I have always had a decent score till class 10th ranging from 85-93 percent (93 being in boards ) . My main dream is pursuing MIT for pcm field . Theres not much guidance available on youtube about entering MIT. i have a few questions - 1) is it possible for me ? Do all the mit students prepare for 7th or 8th and since I am in 11th I cant ? 2) I have no single idea which syllabus I have to prepare for getting into MIT . I want to pursue astrophyiscs or computer science any works for me . But I am totally unaware of what syllabus I need to prepare. I thought Jee advanced preparation will definitely be help and was waiting for someone to guide me futher with how to prepare for MIT . 3) Which exams I need to give ? 4) I also read I need to excel in school exams . Is it true ? Please help me and guide me
Hi, I can't provide specific answers because I personally don't know many undergrads who come here from India. The broad answer is that a good CV which includes a good academic background, prizes in science olympiads and a good score in IIT JEE helps. SAT scores are counted so you should definitely take the SAT exam. A girl from my school got admission in Stanford after 12th by getting a good score in SAT. Hope this helps!
You can also take the ACT exam...the syllabus for both SAT and ACT can be found online..it won't be very different from what you have studied until class 12.
Hi ..I know that GRE is not compulsory for many courses at MIT though I am not sure about the computer science program. But it is worth having on your CV if you have a good score.
They don't define any minimum cgpa. I have just heard from the graduate students in the lab that having a good cgpa helps because they count all the things to shortlist an application. The stipend provided is definitely enough to survive here and is matched to the cost of living in the state.
Hi, I don't know the detailed procedure for this. I would suggest check MIT sloan school of management page. They will have detailed instructions for the admission process. Many Indians come here for this program
What was your 12 percentage..? Im from iiser bhopal cse and i'm planning to do ms or phd from mit and get a good job... What other things i must do...as a reaseacher or as a cs engineer... I am currently working on gsoc and other open source projects... Can you help?
Mine was 88..but 12th percentage doesn't really matter for Phd. They look at undergrad cgpa, research experience. It's good that you are already gaining some extra experience, having more research experience in your CV is the key.
Hi, Yes you can do a PhD in US after doing B.Tech in India. I would suggest try enhancing your CV by taking computational courses (depends on your field) or add a GRE score (not mandatory for some courses in MIT) because it not only shows your english language proficiency but also shows critical thinking and quant skills

I asked for relocation assistance...that usually covers the travel and many PIs provide relocation assistance but you have to ask for it.

What should be the minimum cgpa to do phd in MIT , how much stipen do they provide ,is it enough to sustain in USA

@@prachiojha2897 is it so even in postdoc as well?
People would definitely get better than phd in postdoc, is it??
@@kanikshagarg1728 yes postdocs get more salary than phd and cgpa doesn't matter for postdocs
