Honestly, dev drama aside the fact there’s no “definitive” final version of b3313 really takes b3313 as a work of art to the next level. The confusing feeling of trying to understand and comprehend b3313 now extends beyond the game itself, with information and guides written about the game being inaccurate and unlabeled about which version they are referring to; even trying to follow a guide for b3313 has been made part of the game experience, with many a wrong turn you can make! I’ve always felt that games in this genre like Yume Nikki become very guide dependent which takes away the mystery and surprise at times, but the perfect solution to keep players on their toes has developed. I hope some future game in this genre takes full advantage of this. It’s already disconcerting running into this for b3313, but we are at the precipice of whole new levels of terror. Imagine following a guide to reach one jumpscare only to run into another well before the final step to catch you off guard, or taking a turn following a guide only to end up on a one way trip to somewhere completely different and new and getting your fast travel turned off so you’re forced to explore, or following a text guide and making it to your destination only to watch footage of others following the same instructions you were and to see they went through an entirely different set of areas despite arriving at the same place.

.... I went there because i wasn't sure i reached the end.... Because i had the same end by going into the "Eternal Fort ( beta )" the first time... Now that i think about it, i kinda wonder how i managed to go to that beta map ? The game made me feel complex emotions, as if i could see the collective consciousness of the whole Mario 64 community. It's really something that i never saw before. It's not meant to be all scary, it can be nostalgic, silly, surprising, melancholic and even challenging. I made a whole map by myself and it was a blast to make. Then i saw the "fake" ending and decided to finish the whole game at 100% by looking at the wiki and my notes... Was fun too ! Now, i have 450 stars and loved that long and unusual experience. Fuck that level on the Silicon Graphics chipset though, wtf was that ?
There is now this ending, the final boss ending, and in the latest version, which will likely be the final version, there is a ending for getting all 460 stars. Originally there were more but some got removed since they were glitchy and you could be locked out of them. For example, if you accidentally got the MIPS stars in the basement or courtyard, you couldn't get the other 4 MIPS stars, so the other 4 ended up getting removed.
I knew that you could triple-jump to the 0th pipe. On a different note, what's up with the comments about stuff to do with the drama being put in the romhack?
I forgot it get harder if you have more stars, i was wondering where all the moves are.. He kept teleporting right on top of me.. doing a Firestorm. He didn't RUN at me once. Wow, he says different dialog too.. My Bowser says about 4 paragraphs of text. Saying that he thought his castle was forever, his castle is eternal. That he hates losing to us and says i'll be back.
disappointing this game's story ends on a cliffhanger. i know it could've been done for effect like "oooh this game doesn't have an ending because it's infinite and the true ending is you just deleting the game!!" it makes sense but it just kind of feels..lazy? the game hints to various plotlines throughout your journey like for example, ghost peach, drowned luigi, the core, the anomalies, yet none of it really gets solved or answered. the game is still great though, it must've taken ages for all of this to be finished and i kind of feel bad for calling the ending lazy because there's clearly a LOT of effort put into this game regardless
shame thing seems kinda petty but it does fit the games vibe of being cruel and unusual so i dont rly mind. cant really blame someone getting their project copied being butthurt about it (even if the copiers were former devs) i hope 1.0 gets a pc port so i can play in glorious 60fps chris and everyone else did a great job. best sm64 hack ever (so far??)
The whole schtick of B3313 is to be its own thing based on the beta of Mario 64 Case in point, the voice used for Mario in B3313 is the one that had been used by the Mario 64 beta before Charles Martinet had been recruited to voice Mario
@@fgfhjfhjfbhfghf5771from what i understand the unabandoned dev team is worse & accused chris of a lot of shit he didn’t actually do. either way the unabandoned team doesn’t fully understand the ethos of b3313 the way the creator does and i’m pretty sure the official 1.0 straight up has more content, so, i think it’s worth playing
Both versions have their own quirks. Unabandoned is less penalizing than Official. A lot of crash sequences were replaced by simply losing a life which is far less painful because you don’t have to repetitively set up the minus lives over and over again. There’s more stars in Unabandoned, but I’m a bit neutral on star count since I find polish more valuable than quantity. Also, Unabandoned had a much easier way to access Star Road which was unnecessarily scrapped in the Official version: that means I have to refight Bowser all over again if for some reason I was booted past the ending. Also, the maze-like 4B is not in Unabandoned which is a plus. Official had less stars but the levels I’ve been to has been substantially more polished. The ones that suffered from “My first level” syndrome were either touched-up or replaced by better levels. There are more levels and less stars in each: it makes it less painful if the level you warped to wasn’t from a painting and it immediately kicks you near the start upon either collecting a star or dying. There are less red coin stars than Unabandoned which I sometimes find to be a plus. There’s one less star in SGI INDY, the WORST level! Also, the Red Stars are found fighting bosses instead of “forbidden” places in the castle: also a neutral take. I’ve beaten Unabandoned with *465 Stars and Official with 350. Reasons for not completing both of them are as follows. Some stars in Unabandoned are completely inaccessible due to the game glitching out. One star that involves racing Koopa the Quick I cannot get because he never appears. As for Official, after discovering the devs closed off the easier access to Star Road even after beating Eternal Fort, I decided to end it there. I’m not gonna be dependent on constantly save stating because I stepped “out of line” in such a random game that again, is real enthusiastic with crashing! Edit: My apologies, I mistyped and I meant to say I collected *465* Stars in Unabandoned. This is actually another plus for that version. For some reason, there’s no proper “Star Map” in the Official version while the Unbandoned version you know which stars you do and don’t have in each level. Just having that feature at the start was a great motivator to get nearly all of the stars in that game.

B3313 is supposed to be a spooky adventure through a Mario 64 prototype, not some ventilation for subtly "shaming" real people.
Reprimand the player for exploring the game too much or something, not the devs who sought to branch out and tie up loose ends.
They included their drama in the game? Godamn it
I didn’t see it as related to any drama, though I don’t know of it.
Could anyone give the very basic gist on why “Shame” is a theme?

THE RIDE NEVER ENDS
🤨
It does actually, smash the Core and never play the game again, let the AI rest.
@@SammEaterIt's a reference to a Rollar Coaster Tycoon meme. Some anon on 4chan posted his magnum opis, Mr Bones Wild Ride. 30000ft of track, 1 mile/hr. The exit to the ride is a line to the beginning. The people in the chat were flipping shit seeing the updates. DeadwingDork has a great video on it.
Fuck that level on the Silicon Graphics chipset though, wtf was that ?

cool ending! Star roads music is so sad though lol

wow this ending fucking blows. This is what we waited all this time for?
Did you honestly expected a concluding happy ending?
Your ending is you
Your choices is the ending
@@nahfamyouaintremove happy, and yes, I expected a concluding ending.
Mario's long jump "Yeah!" sounds like a Rayman sound clip. XD
On god i had a dream about something like that thumbnail when i was 6ish back around when 64 ds came out
Wait, there's a real ending to this game? YOU LIED TO ME!
@@SlimyTheNekoslime Yes and no. There is not a definite conclusion, but there is a reward for collecting all 460 stars...

disappointing this game's story ends on a cliffhanger. i know it could've been done for effect like "oooh this game doesn't have an ending because it's infinite and the true ending is you just deleting the game!!" it makes sense but it just kind of feels..lazy? the game hints to various plotlines throughout your journey like for example, ghost peach, drowned luigi, the core, the anomalies, yet none of it really gets solved or answered. the game is still great though, it must've taken ages for all of this to be finished and i kind of feel bad for calling the ending lazy because there's clearly a LOT of effort put into this game regardless
Mario takes a magic mushroom while also having alzheimers simulator
18:12 is it just me or is this song also used in that one ROM hack called Another Super Mario 3D for the DS?
I cant believe this can fit 64mb
18:10 Unexpected
I found a message left by the developer that was only visible outside the map, it only said: "FUCK"
It feels like you are on drugs feeling like you just need to play some Video games and Super Mario 64 is a really confusing game
2:05 That's eerie.
This was it, this video exactly matches the dream I had 3 years ago when « L is real » was found on the N64
10:56
Yo did you just see a faceless Peach?!
Why has Bowser’s sound effects been switched with “big cat stock sound effect”?
Because this game is based on the beta version of SM64 where Mario and Bowser didn’t have proper voices yet
In b3313 v1.0.2 the 0th pipe it says "YOURE NOT WORTHY" instead of playing the Jumpscare Music and the sfx
I'm there in the game I wish it has another warp mechanism, maybe having all the stars makes the player "worthy"
Por alguna razón me da miedo este rom hack, la musica, los sfx, y el ambiente.

They changed that in a patch.
@@JakeTheVictiniAnd also I used the ACT 1 path, because I'm so lazy to get every red star
Mario’s voice definitely didn’t need to be changed
The whole schtick of B3313 is to be its own thing based on the beta of Mario 64
Case in point, the voice used for Mario in B3313 is the one that had been used by the Mario 64 beta before Charles Martinet had been recruited to voice Mario
I think general consensus atm is Unabandoned is better, yeah? I still need to play more official 1.0.
Certainly made by better people at least lol
@@fgfhjfhjfbhfghf5771 Context?
@@fgfhjfhjfbhfghf5771from what i understand the unabandoned dev team is worse & accused chris of a lot of shit he didn’t actually do. either way the unabandoned team doesn’t fully understand the ethos of b3313 the way the creator does and i’m pretty sure the official 1.0 straight up has more content, so, i think it’s worth playing
@@impwolf found Chris's alt
