A bit of wise advice, if the keys does come, it always take time and patience to make the most of it, even if it took a few months or so to wait
For your potential wedding venue- look up Comrie Croft. It’s in Crieff, Perthshire. It’s a DIY wedding venue, you get it for the whole weekend and it includes booking out all the bunks and dorms in the farmhouse and Steading for all of your guests. It also has spots for vans on its campground, as well as tent options and even yurts. It’s a beautiful place!

Dear Amiee and Craig. I know you are deep into Scotland, but when you were in Norway last winter, you inspired me to get out and get out of my comfort zone. So now my husband and I are headed to tour Norway in October 2024 for our 50th anniversary. Taking plane, train, and boat to travel the coast top to bottom. My brain glitched while reading this and for some reason I thought you meant you and your husband were in a band touring Europe 😂
As someone else commented, I immediately got worried when you said ‘no surveys’. I think I would have walked away at that point. When we were looking for our first house we fell in love with a Victorian era terraced house. When we got the survey done there were so many potential issues that we decided not to buy. Crossing my fingers (and toes and everything) that it works out for you. You are both so full of inspiring plans, you deserve to succeed.
It’s a lot easier to see what you are getting in trad scottish wee croft houses tho, from experience of doing it. For a start you can see all the way around, the roof is easily accessible and walls are solid stone. So I can understand doing it more on the hoof, esp if you are going to knock it around anyway…
I would have walked also, but when you really love something, sometimes you bite the bullet. I can imagine they are in a much better financial situation then most of us here so are prepared for all outcomes
Is it a cash purchase then? Mortgage valuation survey would be a minimum. I’d be wanting a structural survey if someone said no surveys. You’ll want to be sure the roof structure is sound as a minimum.

In Scotland you get a ‘Home report’ that the sellers are legally obliged to provide,this usually would pick up any major faults.
Still sending prayers for Gary, I know it is hard going through cancer. Just live everyday to the fullest and don't give up 🤗🙏🤗.

Sad story about the Kinghouse deer... They congregate there as people feed em... 5 or 6 people died in accidents on the nearby road due to the deer, and they had to kill 20 deer as a result. 😢 That was in 2020 a member of staff at Kinghouse Hotel told me. I think they have to keep doing it to prevent further road accidents. So it's best not to feed the deer, for anyone reading this. Costs humans and deer their lives.

Live in it for a bit before deciding on structural changes etc. Do the necessaries first and then see what you need and want. Remember - every project takes 3 times longer than you plan for and frequently costs twice what you plan. Write down the measurements of your spaces and maybe even graph it out prior to shopping. Things look much smaller in the stores than they do in the cottage. Can't wait to see ya'll arguing around the local second hand furniture stops.
My friend, Jen, got married on the beach in Hawaii and then did “Wedding Fest” at home for three days over a holiday weekend. People camped, live music, fab food brought by everyone and a very boho vibe.

Animal wise- as excited as I would be to have all that land for critters to run around, I’m glad guys are being responsible and not being impulsive with getting some.
That being said, you guys should definitely look into plants that are pollinator and wildlife friendly to plant! You’ll get some gorgeous gardens out of it, lower effort and you’ll hopefully get lots of cool wildlife visitors!

It’s the place where i met friends from all over the world and it sparked my fuel to travel the world and meet the friends again that i met in Cardiff. It’s that place were i started to flip my life 180 degrees and start a career in archeology! It is also a starting point for my mental health healing journey. So i would absolutely love to join or atleast say hi 🥺

A wig line! Omg so excited! Im currently working with a lady who coincidentally has met you Aimmee called "wigs and wellbeing" she works with celebrities and has started this trial for non wig wearers who are struggling with hair thinning and wants to show that wig wearing I so much more common than we think and that I'd you don't have the means synthetic wigs have come a long way and can sometimes be good as the real thing. She's hoping to improve my confidence my setting me up with two wigs and all the assessor's I'd ever need. As you may (or probably not HAHA ) know my mental health is bad and its done anything good for my hair especially because of drastic weight loss and medication etc . Can't wait to get my new girls hehe

You guys!!! I am planning my third trip to Scotland in 2026 and have been looking at Castles for a short stay during the month I plan to be there. You need to check out Crossbasket Castle! Such a beautiful space. I have no idea if you are interested in being married in a church but Rosslyn Chapel is to die for. I am not a particularly religious person but if I was that would be my go to!! Whatever you do I am sure it will be amazing. I know your wedding will be super personal but I do hope you will share some photos of your day at minimum!! ❤

I hope you both get your keys soon looking forward to seeing the renovations. I’ve been on the road in my RV since the end of November. Currently in Florida enjoying the warm weather. Heading back home to the North East next month to start up renovations again at camp. I would love to be part of the big moose challenge. I am an Army Veteran and have dealt with my own battles with mental health. An I have always wanted to come to the UK.

I've had issues in the past with PCOS causing bald spots, and although my hair is healthy now, for the sake of my hair's health I've stopped dying it and embraced my grey...but I'm getting bored of it and don't want to go through the grow-out process again!! A good wedding location I can think of is Boturich Castle at Loch Lomond!
