10 Day Trend 03/04/2024 - Hints of something drier - Met Office Weather Forecast
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 кві 2024
- This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the next 10 days, dated 03/04/2024.
We have had a lot of rain recently and whilst there is more heavy rain to come this week, there are signs for some more prolonged drier weather to develop later next week, at least in the south and east. Before then we have a very windy day on Saturday but with that temperatures will be significantly above average for April.
Bringing you this 10 day trend is Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill.

I've honestly never been so miserable as I have been the last 6 months..
I desperately need some sunshine and warm weather, it's never affected me so much before 😞
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a hosepipe ban
There has just been the wettest February recorded in the south of England followed by a very wet March - I think you can go back to sleep.
@@auldfouter8661 To counter that, we've not exactly been building more reservoirs to store said water... Hence why we are very fragile to any hot periods, hence how we had a drought during Summer 2022 and some areas only recently came out of official drought conditions.
@@SquidgyPixel West of Scotland and the north of England have deindustrialised so there's plenty of water storage and a ton of rainfall to fill it. The south of England needs to do more I suppose - but they used to moan that the ground water reserves would never be replenished. I've heard the ground water levels in the south are high now?
@@auldfouter8661Actually yesterday on the news they said we could have a hosepipe ban, because they have only built three new reservoirs in the last 20 years, apparently we need about 30 to make a difference, so they were right.
The water companies need to get their leaks fixed, that will buy us a couple of weeks if it does turn dry
rain ☔ what's that it's never stopped since July 2023 it's getting ridiculous even for uk
Bro, it's been raining for the past 7 months, this month won't be any different due to April showers.
So by that theory it will rain forever more ?
So what's he meant to do? Not mention the fact that it's raining at all despite the fact that he's a weatherman and his job is to report the weather whatever it's doing. Not likely is it!
I’d say more like 9 months. After a dry mid to late May and all of June, the weather broke 1st week of July.
Storm Olivia will be the 15th Storm since September!
@mikekram2199 I don't think he was criticising the presenter.
I recon, more like 12 months.? I did not even uncover the patio furniture all year to even want to sit in the garden. They say we could have a shortage of water, in the summer this year are they joking.?
The other day i seen a big yellow thing in the sky , i reported it to the police because i wasn't sure what it was , the police said dont panic they are looking into it
😂😅😂😅😂😅
ditto!!!!!!!!!@@regtitch5200
I'd like to see it, l keep looking
I hope the look into it and not at it
Pics or it didn't happen.
I know you want to avoid to saying ‘rain’ but my peeve is ‘unsettled’. Sick of hearing it. As someone below has remarked it’s been that since the first week of July. I heard a Lincolnshire farmer last week say all of his farm has been under water since Storm Babette in October. Can’t imagine how he and other farmers are feeling right now.
Metoffice do a cracking report, eat your heart out BBC.
My veg has learnt to swim 😂
In 1955 I was in Portsmouth for nat.service an in April we suffered from sun burn due to very high temperatures.
Hopefully you know that heat doesn't give you sunburn. More likely due to lack of proper sun protection while being outdoors.
Despite your attempt to avoid the word, I lost count of the amount of times ‘rain’ was said 😂
😂😂😂😂😂🫡🫡
Yeah...I failed
Outstanding. This info coupled with Annie’s dive has given us a great insight into just how wet we will all be. Without jest though, Thankyou Alex/all Met office crew. 👍🏽
You could make these videos literally 5 seconds long by saying "It's still raining, no change"
@@kamilfrancoolczakWell its not is it. We have 2 days of sunshine this weekend but its extrememly windy then back to wind and rain because of this bloody Jet Stream stuck over the UK
Very many thanks indeed Alex, so it’s not all bad apart from Thursday through to Monday PLEASE EVERYONE TAKE GREAT CARE ON THE ROADS. Then fingers crossed from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and….!! Take care Alex and everyone! You too folk at the Met Office and many thanks 😊
Thanks for this Alex. Looking to go sailing but it might have to wait till later in the month!
I like the 10 day trend videosfor forward planning - keep putting them up for us!
Cheers....
we better hope for a lovely summer x
As the band James said in their lyrics… ‘Endless rain, Endless rain!’
On a personal front I’ve almost finished building an Ark.
I prefer the met office forecasts.
I dont mind if it rains all night, every night. We just want a break in the clouds.
Thank you, Alex
I wish it would stop raining. I have some barrels in my garden that have been waterlogged since October/November last year and they haven't had the chance to dry out!
So, as normal S.W winds, raining with jet stream in control. No change there for the last 12 months.
Its looking like spring will be a wash out. I cant work out what is April showers and what is just freak westher
Drier!!! Woohoo!!!!
Is there any rain on the way. My pond / garden could do with a drop.
Bring on the warm sunshine 🌞 I'm 😊
Looks like it's going to clear up and rain ☔
Thank you for the info.
I'm looking forward to that 20°c! I'm so excited to be seeing these nicer, warmer, pleasant and milder temperatures again finally! Since November I've been waiting...
Thanks Alex
I’m afraid to pass gas these days in fear it might end up being a named storm.
Thanks Alex - very pleased to hear there's a hint of high pressure/sunshine for us next week after all this rain. I was wondering though, do you and the team ever do retrospective comparison analysis of the 3 main forecast models (UKMO, GFS & ECWMF) to see which one was most accurate on a given forecast? (to help understand why it was the most accurate).
He said that every 10 day for months
We definitely do. they all have their strengths and weaknesses. It's my aim to do a Deep Dive on it soon
@@metoffice Thank you, look forward to seeing that.
Can't we hire some Tug Boats to pull us south a bit!!
Iberia has had even more wet and windy weather recently, so not sure that would help
Now it will either be wet weather or really hot, no in-between
At least the rain will be warmer
What worries me is that the westerly jet stream will suddenly pop northwards, given that El Nino is fading in the Pacific, and that we shall suddenly be catapaulted into a very warm and dry late spring/summer with blocking highs and too little rain. Not sure that "normal" is on the cards any more.
I really do hope that happens. Desperate for some dry, calm weather with prolonged sunshine & heat. The hotter the better.
El Nino is normal.
Very warm and dry? Bring it on, please.
Yes please!
I think we are going back to sea where we all came from . With all this rain .lol
Mind you I have seen 3 swallows.
I made a mere 10 mentions of "rain", 11 if you count "rainfall", 😂 bravo.
Unfortunate that all these disturbances are poleward of jet exits!
I can tell you what the weather is going to be,rain rain rain
It’s global wetting ,we’re gonna need a bigger boat .sick to the back teeth of it 😢
So although you only said Rain or words containing rain (rainfall) 11 times including your introduction where you said you would try not to say it.
You said Wet or words containing wet (Wetter) 12 times
And you said showers or words containing showers (showery) 5 times.
Yes I was sad enough to count 😂
I was hoping someone would. It an 11 minute forecast that's not too bad
My favourite meteorologist ❤ handsome devil 😈
mine too
Lows the never ending story.
Why?
Jet stream to the south of UK … and El Niño means more moisture in the atmosphere
In 2-3 months I wonder if we’ll be bombarded with complaints of drought and extreme heat…
@Metoffice will u issued a weather warning due to storm Olivia this Week or this weekend ?
they will be issued this morning, and will be tweaked in the run up
@@metoffice what does will be tweaked up for weather warnings
Continued precipitation then?
23c on Saturday somewhere around Norwich my prediction
But windy af
Here in Scotland it's always raining.. I've named it rainy Mcrain face. I miss the weather in the 70s and 80s, bring more Co2 levels back...
I know it’s not your fault, but I’m heartily sick of all this rain! and what’s the betting we will still get a hosepipe ban this summer if it’s as hot as 2022! Anyway, off now to build an arch!
So rain for all of next week then
There's this thing that I don't get with people! Feb 2023 driest recorded, Mar 2023 wettest recorded, Jun 2023 hottest recorded, July 2023 wettest recorded for Northern Ireland with the UK N.O 7, Sep 2023 warmest, Oct 2023 wettest, cool Nov with quite a wet, mild and windy Dec, January pretty much average, Feb wettest and warmest, added with 12 storms. Do you all see a pattern here... wet month, dry month. Dry month, wet month. This can help you predict. Because 2021 was a cold year 🥶 more a less and then 2022 was the warmest year for the UK, added with 40.2 degrees🥵.
❤MO🖖
You should not mince yihr words no dry weather for the north west . And dry weather for the south
What are the chances of having a beast from the east? Of course not now, cause we are in April and it's warm ish.
Didn’t somewhere in Scotland reach 20c in February?
No.
@@barbarahalkyard1901 sorry, it had 19.9c in January.
Yes it was the Fohn effect that causes a sudden local high temp spike.
@@Gary0557 It was very close!
Love and Peace to everyone working at the Met Office
Typical as usual, the Schools start back next Monday & thats the day when the higher pressures & drier weather arrives.
When will it be dry ? When it stops raining ! 😂😂😂
Need to fix the models so that we get some dry sunny weather, dude... 😂
Will the low at the weekend be named surely?
Probably not
dont need the sun lotion and flip flops just yet then Alex .
No just a wet suit 😊
Can't say rain go to Spain, they also had loads rain
The uk will be in seriously trouble if it keeps raining and we get no summer just rain and limitless sun as in 8 weeks we start to loose daylight then before you know it autumn appears on the horizon and days get shorter and sun gets lower in the sky maybe lol 😅we get our summer in September Indian summer 😂
It will put St. Swithins in the 'dry' !!!!!!!!😂😂
Drip drip drop go the April showers hum da da de da da do da da daa
precipitation is cheating 😊
it never rains in southern california so a song once said.
🖖
Why do you always quote and show the European models far more often than the Met Office (your own) models?
The clue is in the name: European MEDIUM-RANGE Weather Forecasting Centre (in Reading). More appropriate for covering 10-day trend than UKMO, which targets the next 2-3 days at high resolution.
Met office subscribed to ECMWF for the medium range forecast. Sadly ECMWF was forced to leave Reading and was relocated on the continent due to Brexit.
"Met UK" why is the date configuration in the US style.
It's not? Says 03/04/2024.
Over the last ten years, we have had a beautiful April - but what has happened last year and this year? Why cannot the South West keep its rotten weather systems ?
We always do, Plymouth has had non stop rain since the end of June, forecast give out light showers, then it rains all day.
😱😱😱
Did he say dry !
I blame the russans🤣🤣🤣
Its because the Atlantic is much warmer than usual, more evaporation means more rain. Its a climate thing..
He says same thing EVERY F ING week.
Insufferable lookin at them
I think they shouldn't report the weather if they know it's going to be the same. I think that what the original poster is trying to address@@TheOfficialStal
Never.
can't predict 4 days in the future but apparently can predict 50 years in the future - those models are just so accurate ....
That's the difference between weather and climate. Weather is a lot more unpredictable on a much shorter scale where-as climate isn't.
Try and understand before commenting with uneducated opinions which are unhelpful and unnecessary
The confidence graph😂😂😂😂 so basically we know today and tomorrow's as you have no clue
