This match is a good lesson in tactics. Harimoto about half way through identified Faraji couldn't forehand flick off the serve very well. He just started dropping short dead balls in there and either taking the initiative off the return or countering if he tried to move across to use the backhand. Once he had established this dominance he than started to use it plus variation to further capitalise.
Absolutely impressive! The footwork, techniques, and tactics are all outstanding. Who is this kid’s coach? When did he start playing? Some might think he doesn’t use a forehand flick off the serve, but that’s not true. He did it multiple times from his forehand side, just not from the center of the table. It’s rare to see forehand-dominant players, like him and Ma Long, flicking short serves from the center because it’s harder to generate power and control there. Instead, his choice of a soft net shot was correct, but his return was often half-long, giving Harimoto chances to attack.
Harimoto having to change his serve is just a statement on how good he felt Faraji's BH flick is :) Forehand flicks in general impart less spin because of the anatomy of the wrist
@@ICDUKA Yep. Irony is when something departs or becomes the opposite of what it signifies. Like when you're telling someone to be careful of the wet floor but slip on it yourself. Nothing like that happened here. So, not ironic.
This kid is something special. At his current age of 14, I can't think of any player at his age that would beat him. Quite possibly the best 14 year old.
3:05 shows why little Faraji is so dangerous, recovering so well and making Harimoto feel defeated even when he was supposed to have the upper hand. Still Harimoto shows great tactical wisdom, not letting Faraji use his backhand flick. Definitely a nice match from which many lessons can be learned. While Faraji has great merit for his amazing performances lately, I think much credit also goes to his coaching team. His fundamentals are so clean and crisp he is a pleasure to watch
To all TT enthusiasts here. I was always wondering how its possible to put so much knowledge into such young players. We all know that service recieve and proper footwork and court positioning are key elements that separate players. I am studying TT for decades and stil looking for concepts to find rules and shortcuts for my young players. From technical point of view, stroke producution and general principles are not problem, but proper positioning and footwork is. Can anyone explain in detail what guides proper positioning of player at that young age? If you focus on positioning based on his stroke placement and opponents way of handling (side, spin, position) it you can see some patterns already. I dont believe that he is able to judge all things without some predefined guidelines on the fly. Thank you all for your help with this topic. In meanwhile you can see my channel for more academic approach to TT. Also can put some comments or references to study materials and answers there on my lessons.
What a great match, thank you. I would be surprised if Faraji doesnt make it to the top in next two years max, what a talent. Congrats to Harimoto, his tt is superb.
Harimoto whether a bad day or a good day is one of the most dangerous players playing close to the table...here we see a wonderful performance by him. Of course the opponent is a talent, but with a Harimoto in this level....mmm 🤔 it's not seen all the time. Variety in every aspect. All the time people claim they expected more from Harimoto... I don't know what... he's been top ten for ages.
I really like the way this young gentleman contests the world's elite. But IMHO he has to work on his punch, FH and BH are great, but I do not see a real killer shot, yet.
I’d agree here. Many returns of his forehand by Harimoto or LSD ended into the net. It is as though he was playing with long pips, which he did not. Also I noticed his blade is very “elastic”. He does not put so much effort into his topspins, but his opponents are having hard time returning them, as if they were facing Fan or The Dragon.
The green one is not good in controlling his emotion... Thats the point why he can not win the game. Harimoto more stable, he can control his emotion with tactical plays. If the green one still like that, so he can not get the best next level.
Faraji of Iran is an exciting young player to watch. Great talent.

Love it! People don't give Hari enough credit for how smart he is.

@@AlainDelon-h9h Oh I agree, he is fantastic and I expect we will see a fair bit more of him at WTT events going forward.
14 year old and he makes top 10 athletes to play seriously against him
He beat Wang Chuqin and almost beat Lin Shidong in this tournament. That is crazy.
Same happened with harimoto n ito, when they were 14 they challenged n beat the top athletes
@@marcusbrsp LSD too? I have to watch that

Amazing 🎉
Isn't ironic that the former wonderkid played the present wonderkid? 😁
That guy has a great potential, I hope Iran lifts him up to the top 10
It's not ironic. Just a coincidence.
I hope we see more of him too

His forehand reminds me of Aruna
a little better backhand technique and he turn t a beast like harimoto himself

Nope, he uses very basic stuff. Dignics 09 of forehand and Tenergy 19 on backhand.

NO way how you look at it... Faraji isn't special... He's just another player.. I see nothing special in his form or style... I may be wrong
kid在声音大小上也想和张本比试,但差很远。技术上,张本一直在耍他。
