I work with a woman from Paris and I could listen to her speak (French OR English) for daaaaays. Her accent is gorgeous but also her way of speaking is like silk. The French are just exquisite in all the things. I wouldn't be caught dead speaking French in front of her but I can just tell that our way of speaking is far more aggressive and gutteral. The way German sounds I think... ? I've heard that if you learn French in Canada then you sound extremely old fashioned in France because we don't update conversational phrases and mannerisms. Also, (I'm from the west coast so we rarely speak French,) we tend to think Quebecois are terribly rude, but Eastern speakers (Acadian) are extremely polite... so it would be interesting to get a few french Canadians and a few people from France together and see where that comes from between each other.
I used to work for an airline and one day the 5 French employees weren't there I stood with a perisian French lady for 30minutes to figure out she was asking how to go out for a smoke😅
French people LOVE Canadian French 😂 we just think it’s funny and we love imitating it or making fun of it sometimes but not in a bad way at alllll. I’ve never seen someone hating Canadian french in France 😁.

personally, in quebec I was spoken to in french because I can actually speak french well. my friends however would speak and the people would quickly switch to english to get it over with quicker. I think this happens especially in the more tourist heavy areas. I don't know who would say that quebecois dont want to speak english - but ive witnessed it firsthand that they dont want to continue to speak french if they are having trouble undertsanding, dont have patience or usually time to continue in french.
