Rest easy Jack! Man I don’t know what to say. I’m just a guy from Australia, watching your videos for years. 23 years old and you know what. You helped me. Something about your personality and charm, like a grandfather figure, I remember those nights I couldn’t sleep and I’d throw on your videos and fall asleep to them. Something soothing, real and raw. I can’t explain it.. but I’ll miss you
You nailed it Mick. I felt as though he talked to us and teached us like were were part of his family. A beautiful man.
I feel exactly the same. What a man 😢❤️ the world lost a great man. RIP daddy Jack
Mate, I just found out. I am from the states been in Aus 3.5 years. Told myself when I got back home in a year I was going to drive up to CT to check out Daddy Jacks. I still will. Breaks my heart.
@@jo8980 I’m from UK, I had the exact same intentions to ensure I visited however I could when I go travelling in US at some point. 😢
@@tomharper2709 I don't know what will happen to his restaurant. But it appears his family has started a charity in his honour for local culinary students. An awesome way honour this man. He will be missed.
Crazy how you can miss someone whom you never met. Rest well my friend.
My sentiments exactly. We have lost a friend and an inspiration. DJ cooked and lived with his heart. His legacy is left in all of us. We must cook on in the ways he taught us. ... more green onion!
we're all connected..🙏🏻🇺🇸
Well said, just found out today and I’m shook. His Legacy will live on!
Tried to find Daddy Jacks newest video, was shocked it had been 2 months. I knew something wasn't right. I immediately did a Google search. Was saddened when I came upon an article from 05/12/21, Jack had died at 62 due to complications from a heart attack the day before. This hit hard, I absolutely loved watching your videos. Ive watched hundreds of them, at times I'd click one video to the next for hours at a time. The way you cooked, how you spoke, the sounds of your kitchen...everything about your videos was absolutely comforting. A lot of ASMR before it was a thing. Your videos had a very 'Great Chefs Of The West' feel to them. The restaurant industry and UA-cam lost a gem. I have this video paused, will be very tough to get through knowing you're gone. From a complete stranger who rarely comments on videos, you had an impact. RIP Jack Chaplin. 😔🙏
@Jason Beltran Well said, Jason. I had the same happen to me 2 months after you. It’s those big personalities that leave the biggest holes. He brought people together. I never met Jack, but I felt I knew him for a long time. I used to tell him that he must have Italian blood in him with his passion for what he does. I’m half Italian, originally from NY just across the Long Island Sound. I shared a story with him about when I was a kid my family took us on the ferry across the Sound to New London. Good memories all around. Going to miss him with his passion for good food and sharing it with everyone and all his friends. Very fitting that his last video was a recipe for an Italian dish. R.I.P. my friend. You will be greatly missed. Save a place for me at the table.
RIP . I’m late
No
you, me, and 250,000 others. with covid over i was hoping to get down to S/E CT ... no more :(
just found out myself. my dad was an italian restaurateur who passed two months after jack. i always loved watching cooking with the blues cause it reminded me of when my dad would cook in his kitchen. God bless that man and his family. really starting to understand that life is just a vapor
Couldn't be more devastated to hear of Jacks Passing, kind humble man brought happiness to many ! RIP
RIP Chef. Don't forget the green onions.
Jesus I’m getting misty eyed over here when you said that. O man. I gotta go. RIP Jack.
😢
I chuckled at this. Daddy Jack and his green onions
whattt
for real? what happened to him? He looked ok in this video and he just suddenly passed away?
I wondered why Jack hadn't posted a video in a while so I just checked his channel. I'm sick to my stomach and heartbroken. I love to cook and Jack was a big reason for that. I don't cry easily but this has me sobbing. It's crazy how close you can feel to someone and their families even though you've never met them. Jack had the ability to make complex dishes look so simple to cook. My prayers go out to his family and I wish more people would act like this man did.
Lakisha, it would be amazing if someday you carry on his tradition of making videos and sharing yours and his knowledge of food. You seem like a very beautiful soul, and I think Daddy Jack Nation would embrace you just as they did Jack. God bless you guys. My love is with you.
Well said William!
Where did you find this info! I’m heartbroken! What happened?
Me to
Well said brother
I could not have written that better William, I usually sit down on my PC on a Sunday night with the earphones in, a bottle of Red, then on to UA-cam to see a few recipes from various chefs including Daddy Jack, It won't be the same!, So upset at this news😥
I never met Jack in person but this feels like losing a friend. Rest in peace Mr Chaplin. Thank you for all the great recepies and videos.
absolutely....he touched so many who never met him. It wasn't necessary to get to know him He was clear and candid in his videos and you grew to love him and laugh with him!
Nice way to put it mate. I've been watching these videos since before he got the pizza oven 👌✌️. Supper warm kind guy. R.I.P
Just learned it. Such a sad news. The same feeling. Remember how I saw one of the videos in the suggested videos and I have been watching ever since. All support to his family and friends.
He passed?
So true I too know nothing about him other than his videos but it feels like an old friend taken way too soon. Love his style soothing to watch at bedtime.
Rest easy Chef! Your job here on earth was well done, this world is a better place having had you in it.
Absolutely...Chef Chaplin lives on into eternity...
What happened does anyone know. Omg i am heart broken
@@83devildog chef recently had heart surgery and I believe his passing was due to complications from the surgery.
@@rrek7 so sad he was an amazing man. I hope the girls and Lakesha r ok
Oh no!! I just found this channel 😢. He's awesome
My girlfriend and I finally got to New London in June, not realizing he had passed. We went there just to have one of his delicious meals, only to find the restaurant had been cleaned out, and his picture on a photo stand out front. We both cried and walked around the place, in a bit of a fog. We should have gone to see him earlier, and if it weren't for Covid? We would have. RIP you kind and fatherly Chef. May the Blues serenade you every day in Heaven.
Wow I'm sorry. I just found out about Chef Jack's passing now. Sorry you mate the trek to hear such sad news. I can only imagine the fog you two were in that day you walked up to the restaurant. RIP Mr. Chaplin.
So nobody is continuing the place?
Rest In Peace daddy Jack! You will be missed by so many! ♥️
I cried when I heard the news. Been watching Jack for years. Wish I got to his place.
RIP Daddy Jack
Omg. Same here. Im in northern Conn so it only would have been about a 45 minute drive. Sad day for sure. He was a better teacher than Gordon Ramsey. No joke!!!!
I cant believe he passed away. I'm gonna miss this man so much. Death is not the end. it is the return to self. Rest in peace beautiful soul.
I just saw the news about Daddy Jack, and I am truly touched by his passing. My deepest condolences go out to his beautiful family and friends. There was something special about this man. Watching him show and teach us all how to make his incredible dishes, and opening up his recipes to the public was something special.
God took this beautiful man way too soon. Rest in peace !
Wow
This dude has made a big impact on our family. He won’t be forgotten. Thank heavens for YT keeping this influence accessible for years to come.
Such a sad day...I discovered Jack a few years back and enjoyed his style of recipes and his ways in the kitchen. We all grew to try his methods and use his knowledge in food preparation as well as "a little garlic". Our condolences to Jacks girls, family and friends...Lakisha, we're so sorry.
Rip Daddy Jack you were like family with your down to earth demeanor
Rip daddy jack. You truly inspired me on my journey with cooking. Glad I got to meet you. Rest easy big guy

@@LeukeGast he did a very good job with this channel. inspired me to cook with more passion :) And to cook for your loved ones :)
Just found out. Needed a visit with my favorite UA-cam chef and I find out the horrible news. Such a great personality, sweet person and naturally entertaining. I feel for his family and their loss and send my deepest condolences. Gonna miss you Chef. 😢
Just found out this gentleman passed away yesterday. Been watching his videos for a while so it makes me sad. Rest In Peace buddy thank you for the great videos and good energy
RIP Jack,
I watched your videos for the last three years. I wasn’t really doing much but working since spring so when I decided to get back on UA-cam to binge watch your videos tonight I saw you haven’t made one on either of your channels. I thought it was really ODD! So I came here in your comment section to find out you went on to the other side of total peace. I appreciate your instructions threw your cooking and all The stories you told. You will be missed by all. Condolences to your family. May God Bless you all during this time of healing.
RIP to a legend. Thank you for everything, Jack
I had no idea Jack had past, been wondering why he hadn't posted.
Sad news & a great loss to a legend
RIP JACK .
I , like many wondered why no new vids were posted. I’d hoped Daddy Jack and his family were well.
I’m saddened beyond what I thought I could feel from watching the channel. I bought some merch a few months ago (we hoped to get to to New London one day soon we camp in Lisbon every other year ). I’ll have it forever as a reminder of the Chef who many came to love through food the blues and UA-cam. God bless Lakisha Lee , Rachel & Luci , Axle and all who loved him . May God lay his hands on your hearts for strength. RIP Daddy Jack 🙏 ☮️
My thoughts and prayers are with the Chaplins in this trying time.
All the love in the world and God bless.
I am crushed.
I jumped on to Daddy Jack's page and wondered why he hadn't posted in 3 weeks. Then I saw the comments. That hit me harder than any celebrity death.
dude.... Wow :/
So sad :(
same. him and bourdain.
Really, realy sad to have found out today. What a wonderful guy. 😢
me too man, i'm in shock
I’m shocked and stunned having just found out the sad news. I watch these videos daily watching the same recipes over and over (and will continue to do so!). I have learned so much and have enjoyed our journey together since I found you years back. Although we never met, today I found out I lost a friend, I’m so sad. You were such a big character and a tremendous influence. Thank you so much for all you’ve done and love to your family, as well as your UA-cam family, we’ll all miss you dearly.
So sorry to hear this. Jack was a beacon of light who reached so many people from all over the world. Hope they're playing some good blues up there, Jack. Rest easy.
Rest in peace Jack. Thanks for teaching me how to have fun cooking, and upping my pizza game. Dave, from Minnesota, age 60. I hope you can continue cooking in Heaven, cuz, I'm gonna look you up when I get there brother.
Daddy Jack, you are one of the main reasons I ever wanted to become a Chef, going forward will be tremendously difficult without your videos for inspiration, however, the knowledge that you have shared with us will last a lifetime. It would be impossible to forget someone who shared such love, passion, and kindness with the world, with that being said, we won’t ever forget you! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! Truly heartbroken and devastated today, however so incredibly thankful.
RIP.
My heart goes out to Jack's family and loved ones. A top shelf chef, and one of the truly most genuine, generous and good-hearted men I ever had the pleasure of meeting. RIP Daddy Jack
I love you uncle Jack...thank you for Everything ❤️🙏
As a Sicilian that enjoyed Sicilian cooking from my Nonna and Nonno on both sides of the family, you nailed it. Everyone has their own twist that's what makes it so good. Keep cooking for the angels. Thank you

Condolences to the family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by this wonderful man.
Glad I made the hour long trip from Rhode Island to Connecticut just to visit your restaurant. We're from Texas and happened to be on a business trip in your neck of the woods. Love your channel and even had the privilege of meeting you in person at your restaurant. I told you how your chicken carbonara recipe was a hit with my guests. You asked me if I used egg yolk and I said "yeah, and BTW, no leftovers!" You were such a gracious host and spent generous time with us, getting to know us. Your memory will live with me forever. As you would say to all of us..... " Peace!"
God needed a chef. We will miss you.
Rest in paradise Daddy Jack, thank you for being an inspiration for my boyfriend and I in the kitchen. As you always say, “we’re doing it here!” Love you man, your legacy will live on forever and I’ll forever regret not going to meet you.
Rest In Peace. Amazing how sad I am for the loss of someone ive never met. Thank you for the Memories.
I was devastated to learn of Jack's passage. I have watched his videos over the years. Cooking Jack's recipies helped me get over the issolation and darkness of the pandemic. I was planning to visit the restaurant and hopefully get to meet and thank him now that the worst of the pandamic has passed. Was so sad to learning of his passing. He will be greatly missed. RIP.

I'm really sad he's gone but what a great last video. It sums up everything that he was as a chef and as a human being: loving, inquisitive, passionate. A wonderful man who lived a wonderful life.
Jack's cooking was, full of Heart and Love. Those video's are really treasure. Thank you for all.
Jack inspired so many of us, and by changing the way we cook and feel passion towards food, that has an impact on our lives. Will sorely miss him, love to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Jack's videos helped me get through the pandemic. His sense of humor, love for his family and ability to always make me laugh were a huge source of comfort during 2020. RIP, Jack.
I so enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you so much. Rest in peace.
Chef made some happy people. He motivated me to cook more than anyone. Thank you.
I always find that watching Jack Chaplin's cooking shows creates a calming vibe. He was the chef for the laid back individuals. He will always be missed, because most cooking shows are so fast paced that they make me stress out. Jack was such a down to Earth...and mellow soul...
What a legacy. Thank u jack for everything you’ve done through your love of food and family. My heart is full of love. May God bless ur beautiful soul. Amen brother
So sorry to see this. Heaven for sure gained an Angel and a Chef 👨🍳🙏🏻. I’ve watch Daddy Jacks videos from when Bob started doing them. Video Bob , we have some great memories thanks to you. I’m in Souuth Carolina and I had eating with Daddy Jack on my Bucket List. Rest In Paradise my friend.
You’re The Best !
RIP Daddy Jack. I'm so glad I found his videos. I've watched the spaghetti bolognese recipe at least a dozen times.
Bless your heart, Jack. Gods grace on you and your daughters.
Really great guy. One of the best things about his channel was that it was as much about family as about cooking: LaKisha, Titus, Axel, Jack's daughters and friends and on and on. If LaKisha or Jack's daughters kept making videos, I'd watch and hope that some of Jack's spirit was still around. RIP, Jack. You'll be missed. Best wishes to his family.
Ah geez, i just found out his passing.i discovered this channel 5 months or so before quarantine lockdown. Watching him have to close down for Covid was heartbreaking enough. I would however watch videos i watched again and with joy. A good portion of quarantine, this show left my spirits from time to time. I live by myself and needed happiness. Daddy Jack had an amazing presence and a true love of food. Thank you for helping me. I never met you, but you get a five star for your sharing and light to the world. Godspeed.
I do not know what to say so sad to hear this! My condolences to hisfamily and friends! Thank you for making the pandemic easier to handle! I am crying now writing this, rest in peace Jack!
The last words he said on UA-cam "Love you, love you all, stay healthy". I wanna cry

Rest easy gentle giant. I never got to meet you, but I got to know you through watching your videos over the years. You taught me a lot, and you’re the reason I started cooking. My condolences to the family, friends, and UA-cam family fans. The Lord called home a great one!
wow i was so shocked to hear of jacks passing . REST IN PEACE JACK and my condolences to all friends and family !
Needless to say, this one hurts. I come from a family of good cooks but wanted to find recipes to make my own. Jack did that, while through a glowing screen, taught me how to use a knife, season as you add new ingredients, and how to bash your meat super thin! My heart hurts, but I am better for having known about you during your life and even engaged with you a few times here in the comments. My warm thoughts to his daughters who clearly adored him as much as he adored them. Rest well Jack and thank you for everything you gave us.
The man ate how he wanted his whole life. Cooked how he wanted to eat. Went out with flavor. RIP chef.
My heart is just so broken I can’t stop crying. Love you so much Daddy Jack. My heart and prayers go out to your family I wish I could do something to help with their sadness . love you my dear sweet friend.
