We have never liked the definition of flanking as outlined by the books. We have a standing house rule that any 2 opponents at greater than 90 degrees is flanked. And if a creature is flanked and a 3rd opponent joins, that opponent gets the flanked bonus as well. Overall good informative video.
IkariMadness Agreed. In reality, fighting two people standing shoulder to shoulder directly in front of you in itself is almost twice as difficult as fighting one. The idea that two units don’t get an advantage against an opponent unless they or on perfectly opposite sides of it is ridiculous imo.
Nice Androids and Aliens reference! Could you do a vid explaining operative's edge not stacking with skill focus, and also how trick attack works? I had to make a flow chart for my operative player recently to help her understand.
Only allowing melee attackers to move 5 feet as a guarded move action while within threatened square feels so constricting. The withdraw action seems completely useless if it only stop the Attack of opportunity from the original threatened square; why not just take the guarded step and do something useful as a standard action? I’m changing those in house rules. Great explanation though!
The voices have been heard and I am working on future videos about computers and hacking as we speak! :) As for Starships... that's on the list, but I shudder every time I think about that entails. Plus, I suspect there may be a Starships source book in the future that might revise a few of the rules in the book now.
Thanks for the suggestions! All of the above are on the "To Do" list. I may be able to bump up Hacking, but will likely have to make two videos out of it... one for "Basics of Computers" and another one for "Basics of Hacking."
Yo i know this may be really old but those maps that you use for the examples are from an Adventure or you made them yourserlf, If it is any of the 2 can you tell me where to find them? I would really aprecciate it
I believe those 2 maps are from the Core Rulebook. But a lot of other great maps I use were purchased from Maps of Mastery: maps-of-mastery-store.myshopify.com/
This video is informative, but I'm simply flabbergasted on how awful the rules are. What's the point of having two types of action that avoids AoO? What's the benefit of the rules being contrived to the point that people CLEARLY surrounding the monster like in ua-cam.com/video/H-mvDv0Rrik/v-deo.html don't get the bonus? WHAT WAS GAINED BY KEEPING THIS AWFUL, UNINTUITIVE MESS? Still, a very good presentation. You've shown me why I won't ever play Starfinder, but I appreciate immensely your effort on conveying how the system works.

That was super helpful. Had a player who kept trying to make attacks of opportunity for every enemy that moved

I’m new to starfinder and I really like your videos there helping a lot.
Thanks! Glad to hear they're helping!
Haha I loved the Androids & Aliens reference! These videos are a godsend.
I'm glad to hear they're helping! And yes, I love me some A&A. #TeamTumsy
Captain K.! Haha. I thought the same thing.
@@HowItsPlayed Except the phrase is "A Vesk is never unarmed". Still, happy to hear a reference.
Fantastic Job, I've distributed this to all my players! Thanks!
Thanks! Playing my first game Tuesday and your videos have been a tremendous help.
Glad I could help! And good luck with the game!
Great video as usual. Clear, concise, high quality. Thank you. I second the suggestion for a hacking video.
Thanks! I always appreciate the positive feedback!

Love me some Androids and Aliens! And thanks for the suggestion... I'll add Operatives and Trick Attacks to the list.
Bit late to trying this game, but oh man what a great video

Great video! Thanks for the clear, detailed explanations. I would second the vote for hacking, and also suggest a “basics” for starship combat!

Excellent tuts! ❤ Thank you
How about a video about hacking? Also, disease, poison, and drugs.

The standing up from being prone provoke an attack of opportunity?
Not in Starfinder. The only movement that triggers an attack of opportunity is moving out of a threatened space.
How does resistance work?

Flanking is kind of a perfect example of why more rules aren't always better. I simplify flanked to outnumbered and skip the high school geometry.
