Your videos were all extremely helpful. I got accepted to an MSc at Oxford. I'm from a humble background in Sri Lanka. I can't afford it, so if I don't get a scholarship I wouldn't be able to actually study there. But it's a huge achievement to have gotten in. I just wanted you to know the extent of the impact you make. Thank you so very much!

Congratulations did you have to take a test to get into master Oxford? Or just the apply and resume, easy?
I love that you're helping to demystify the graduate school process. Before your videos, I had little to no idea what Masters programs were, what they were like and what you had do to get into/complete one! Keep up the fantastic work!!
Thank you Katie!! I look forward to following your academic journey through grad school as well 😉😊
@@KaelynGraceApple it's funny you say that because I was researching grad programs last night lol! 😂

This was really helpful when I was applying so thank you! I got offers from both Oxford and Cambridge for my masters so now it's the hard part of deciding where to go! Hope Yale is going well for you!
Congratulations on your acceptance!!

I’m only 13 but I know that I want to do Finance and I know that Oxford is the school that I want to be in. I’m ready to get a head start because I know it will be harder for me because I’m American. I’ve been doing nonstop research and I know that I can do it!

Thanks for all these great advice! I’m also considering on doing my masters at Oxford so your tips are really helpful! I especially liked how you mentioned networking with professors and contributing to their research. That’s something I’ve never thought of before and will definitely implement now you’ve suggested it!
Hey, your videos have been super helpful. There isn’t a lot of information about the process for graduate study so this channel is amazing!
Hi Kaelyn! Thank you for being so open with us about so many different aspects of your journey. I have been watching your content since your “How I Prepare for Seminars” video all those months ago and each of your uploads is something I’ve looked forward to during this time of social-distancing! All of the progress you are making during this time despite global and personal circumstances stacked against you has really kept me motivated as I prepare for my final year of undergrad! Much love and gratitude from LA. -Will
Thank you so much for this kind message! I really appreciate you supporting me and my videos! Good luck with your final year of undergrad!!!

I'm 30+ and have no plans for graduate school but this is such an informative video it's so inspiring!

Hi Kaelyn! I love your clear delivery of information. Your videos are super helpful to me! There is one thing I am unsure about GPA: I have a double degree in undergrad and my cumulative GPA is not very ideal (3.7), but one of them which I want to apply master has a GPA of 3.85. Would Oxford only look at the cumulative GPA or will they value according to the corresponding major's GPA only? Thank you so much!
you're a queen!!!
Super helpful video, appreciate all of your very detailed insights - out of curiosity, how many master's programs did you apply to overall/did you apply to others in the UK? when you started the application process, how certain were you about wanting to do a master's program abroad vs. in the US?
Thank you for the video!

I love this video! You're helping a lot, but I still don't understand the GPA system, I know for Europe is another system. Next year I will graduate the psychology school from Romania and I'm interested in applying to Oxford, but I'm not sure if I have a chance
Thank you very helpful.

This was so helpful, thank you! Out of curiosity, as an international applicant from the US, did you write your statement using American English or British English (eg. program vs programme)? Also, did you have a reference list for the sources you mentioned in your statement?
Thank you!! ❤
The bleeping 🤣😂 , thanks for the video 😊.
Kopy Katt thank you 💕💕 I bleeped because my advisor didn’t ask to have her name on the internet so I felt it was only fair/respectful to keep her name private 💕🥰
For the full-time taught courses Statement of Purpose, do you recommend placing more emphasis on the ability to complete the coursework related to the Masters as opposed to research? I'm applying to a philosophy MSt program that doesn't really involve research. Thanks so much for the great video!
Focus on how you will take advantage of coursework. Skills you hope to acquire and how which direction you plan to take with your courses/tutorials/papers. Even if the main component of the degree is an exam, you will be focusing your studies on smaller research papers/projects so while you won’t emphasize the dissertation component, you still want to emphasize your plan and how you will use the coursework to advance your thoughts and prepare you for your next step.
Hello, Kaelyn! Thank you for sharing! For a future video, could you show how you find sources for your dissertation? I've been reading and copying references down that are in other sources but would love to know how you go about it. I am also trying to find references as Bodleian but find that I am kind of lost in being able to navigate the thing. Do you have any recommendations?
I have a video all about how to write a dissertation and my experience coming very soon! 🥰🥰 thank you for the feedback/suggestion!

Nice video! And super informative, well done. I want to ask you, why your personal statement is covered your research interest or research plan! Is your Master type a research or taught degree?!

Hi, i am new subscriber. I am 2nd year undergrad student in political science and want to pursue my MA in oxford and i was very happy when i found your videos. I wanted to know what about the course options and also is there an interview round as well for master's admission?
Hey, Thanks for the really helpful video, Just a small question, was your program a research degree?
Your videos are so helpful! How long did you wait after undergrad to apply/go to Oxford?
I applied during my senior year and went immediately after undergrad 🥰 I had plenty of professional job experience before transferring to UCLA so I felt ready to go straight through
Many thanks for the great video! I submitted my application for the MSt by 8 January ddl, was wondering when should I expect the result? Thanks!
I heard back by late March!
Thank you for this video. Just a quick question: my GPA went down because of poor performance ONLY in ONE course. If I repeat that course, I am sure I will bring up my GPA. I am wondering how this repeated course will be looked at, and how its gonna affect my application. Is it a big deal?
Nice channel!
The font looks really good. which is it?
Your videos have been so helpful, thank you for sharing them! I was just wondering if you had any sort of advice for people coming from basically out of left field; I am halfway through my medical residency and don't have an undergraduate degree, just the medical doctorate, and was hoping to take a leave of absence from my program for a year to do a MSc in social sciences, as I feel that medical training just hasn't properly prepared me to view my patients and their problems from a variety of different lenses. This does mean that in terms of academic experience, there isn't much to put into my statement of purpose as I don't think they care about how many different bacteria/antibiotic combinations I had to learn to get here... Please let me know if you've seen people coming from very different backgrounds and how their applications were received?
My recommendation is to contact your department/faculty at Oxford and make sure that you will be able to meet the requirements since many programs require a bachelor's degree! After speaking to them, feel free to reach out and I'd be happy to help you through the application process.
Hi Kaelyn, I am an undergraduate studying sociology in the UCL, also international student. It is been the application season and I just got rejected for Oxford and LSE. My score is around 2:1 class so I was aware for these rejections. It is so lucky for me that I have found your video on writing PS. I learned so much from your video and I decide to take another shot for Oxford with my sociology major (initially I applied for social science of the internet). If possible, may I send my PS to your email for any suggestions? Many thanks!
I get into Oxford!! Your PS is immensely helpful, and the sociology one is also starting from a short research proposal. I would have no clue of wrting if I have not read yours. I just want to say thank you and I am also planning to read my PS later. Thank you soooo much!!!
I have a first class honours degree however I have a couple of lower grades from my earlier years of study. Obviously this didn't affect my overall score, but I am not happy with them. Will this affect my application? Would this be overlooked if I do extremely well on the other areas of the application? Thanks so much, loved your video.
Yes! As I said in the video I had very low grades at the beginning of my undergraduate career but improved significantly when I got to UCLA. You should definitely still apply!
Hi Kaelyn,
Thank you for your wonderful video!
Let me ask you something.
I'm currently a UC Santa Barbara student and seeking to apply for Oxford masters after working for a couple years.
I also transferred from one of the community colleges in CA like you and am wondering if the GPA I earned in my community college would be taken into consideration.
I got 3.5-3.6 in CC and now earning 3.8-3.9 in UCSB.
Did you state only your UCLA GPA or CC's also on CV?
Thank you!
You have to include all transcripts so all previous grades are taken into consideration ♥️
@@KaelynGraceApple
Wow!Thanks for your reply!
I appreciate it. Best of luck on your PHD life🙂
Could you tell me how many pages is your CV? Thank alot and best luck 😍🥰🍄
Hy I have a question does the improving or repeating of a course during university causes any effect for admission at oxford.Because it is represented on the transcript and in our university for both failure or improve they get a same letter at the end ..
The Transcript of Grades of my University says that I have a 3.25 / 4.0 GPA (91 / 100). However, I checked some sources and they say with a 91 percent, my gpa is in a 3.7 / 4.0 GPA. I believe my University GPA calculator will diminish my chances. Any suggestion on my situation? Thank you so much,
Can I send medium of institution letter(English Proficiency Letter) instead of IELTS? And do I have to ask Professors to send reference letters to the unviersity email themselves?Kindly tell me about what to do
I have a 4.0 and am working on an academic survey and creative writing both for publication. I am also a nontraditional student and veteran. Is this competitive for a Masters of English Literature at Oxford?
Hey! I am hoping to apply to oxford and i have 3.95 gpa from an american uni. However, I did not write an honours thesis. I only am writing a thesis for my minor. Would that be a problem?
Hello, I'm from India and this video helped me a lot but I have a question. Can I get into Oxford for masters in english with 3.4gpa in high school?
Hi,
I see most of the master’s programs offered by Oxford say a 3.85 GPA is required who hold a US bachelor’s. Is it true or there is a catch?
Thank you!
Very inspiring! I am a 1st year undergraduate student and was able to publish a paper and will be a research assistant where I have the opportunity to be a co-author of an additional paper. I will probably get a gpa just enough for a first-class honours degree, but I know that people applying to a master at Oxford will have a much better gpa. Is a great gpa more important for the application or can I compensate it with research experience as long as my gpa still matches the minimum requirement?
Hey, I wanted to know the details about mst in film aesthetics in Oxford (it's my dream program). I am an Indian student and currently studying bsc in economics and humanities in IIT Bombay (arguably the best college of India) and i have made around 25 short films here and they have won awards at fests like raindance and los Angeles Pacific asian film fest... As in the site of the course it's written that you must have atleast a honours degree in humanities, so will i be accepted because I am doing bsc(4 yrs long) not honours or ba and i am in 2nd year and please tell what did you do before you got selected and how an international student can stand apart to get selected. Please reply, thanks
Hey Kaelyn, maybe you can help demystify something for me. How exactly do you convert UK degree scores into GPAs? And do masters results get counted in that too?
To my knowledge a 1st class is equivalent to a 3.8-4.0 and a second class with honors (2:1) is a 3..6 -3.75 but I’m not 100% sure of the exact conversion. The masters at Oxford is either a pass, merit, or distinction whereas in the US you’re graded on the standard 4.0 scale
@@KaelynGraceApple that's roughly what I thought regarding undergrad. But what I'm most curious about is whether having a high distinction at masters level could bump up the score at all?
For a PhD application? Having a distinction from an institution like oxford would negate most blemishes on ones undergrad gpa. Though undergrad gpa and masters gpas will be viewed separately
@@KaelynGraceApple Ah, well mine is from King's, but that's good to know. 😀 And good luck with yous btw if you're still putting the finishing touches to your dissertation
.
Dominic Carr thank you! I’m almost done!!

Can I get a master scholarship as an international student with a master degree which I purchased in Vietnam?
is there a list of abroad schools/history programs that are accredited in the USA. are there certain schools or do all Master's degrees from uk schools count in the U.S?
They all count in the US so long as it’s from a degree offering university
Hi, would you recommend highlighting leadership administrative and research skills for any program? I'm considering creative writing!
For creative writing, focus on your experience and written work, rather than just research skills.
As someone who was home schooled and not graded would they still accept me?
Is the honors program from undergraduate school a big plus for the application?
a High GPA and honors is pretty standard
When you mention a professor's name or project in your statement of purpose, did you have to first speak with these professors about potential collaboration if you were to get in to Oxford?
Irene Rauch you don’t have to but I would recommend that you reach out to them to make sure they will be available and whether your research will align with their knowledge/interests!
I have a video coming all about this in two weeks so keep an eye out! 🥰
Did you contact the people you wanted to work with before you applied? It sounds like you did because you mention specific names and mentors.
I only had a brief email exchange with me potential advisor about sources but not about working with her or the program. Oxford doesn’t require you to contact professors for their masters programs ahead of time and some departments even frown upon it.
Does OXBRIDGE only accept toppers??
My first semester grade at college was bad due to certain reasons. Rest were okay. I’m in pre final year right now. My GPA is coming to 3.65 around (taking the grades of first 5 semesters).
What do u think?
Depends on the program! Check out acceptedconsulting.com for support
How long did it take for you to get an interview/offer
8-10 weeks - I submitted in January and heard back in mid-march
hey, i know this is a bit late but does your high school gpa matter for doing masters?
i'm in my second year for bachelors and by far my gpa has been a consistent 4.0 (96%) whereas i had a 2.0 (76%) in high school.
It does not :)
@@KaelynGraceApple thank you so much! it's always been a dream to get into Oxford and I was super scared lol
Are only honors students considered or normal bachelors is fine too?
Vaidehi Nair students with any applicable gpa within the margin are considered. I was not in the honors program at UCLA
during undergrad, no leturer knew me personally except my supervisor. It is sad cos I need like 3 referees and don tknow how ill get 3 academics to write about me out of the blue
Write to professors from courses you performed well in and ask if they'd be willing to write a letter if you send them the essays you wrote for their class.
Does your high school gpa matter when applying to a Masters program?
Nope!
You left out the biggest question. COST
how much are the fees and application cost?
Application was £50 when I applied (if I remember correctly) see my other videos about cost of attendance
@@KaelynGraceApple do they take into consideration race as a factor in the application? I'm thinking of applying but my 3.3 GPA in US History is probably not good enough right?
Hi, i was wondering if they take into consideration the undergraduate you attended
Yes but you don’t have to go to a top tier undergraduate institution to be considered for Oxford. Focus on your gpa, research experience, and writing abilities!
can you still apply to Oxbridge with a 3.3 GPA
Most programs have a gpa minimum
@@KaelynGraceApple I just looked online, it says for Masters at Oxford, I need 3.3 out of 4.0 at bare minimum. Thank you for your response though

And when will starts the admission for autumn semester 2021?
And what will be the last date of applying at oxford uni in 2021 for master's degree?

For masters degree programs, you apply to the department, rather than the college so whichever college you select as your preference will not effect you acceptance. Admission for the Fall 2022 term will open up in early September 2021 and the deadlines are rolling but ultimately conclude in January-March (depending on the program).
@@KaelynGraceApple Thank you .
