Having received a number of comments now, it seems that some are missing the point of the video. It's not about being RIGHT, it's to study together and find the answer to be more confident in our pronunciation. If you feel comfortable with Yahuah, that's great! My main issue is that NO ONE, despite the disagreement, seems to be able to offer any historical PROOF for this NEW pronunciation.
1.) Yahweh would not leave us without any witness for over 2000 years: "By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established." (Deu 19:15; Mat 18:16; 2Co 13:1)
2.) Every grammatical rule of Biblical Hebrew points toward Yahweh as the correct pronunciation.
3.) Every historical written and oral witness points toward Yahweh as the correct pronunciation.
Please feel free to disagree, state your case (with links hopefully) but avoid abuse of fellow believers, because I will delete those :)

I have been using YAHUAH and YAHUSHA for the last 3 - 4 years. I've struggled with the Names due to their Biblical importance. I want to be as accurate as possible. Honestly, your video shook me up a little bit, so I reached out to Dr. Pidgeon and asked him his opinion of your teaching. Not for argument, but for another opinion which supports YAHUAH and YAHUSHA. The following was his response:
    1. Factually incorrect. The Cherokee, the Iriqois, the Hopi and even the Polynesians use the name Yahuah. Answering: that there is no historical or verbal usage of those names. YAHUAH is a recent pronunciation.
    2. Lessons in Biblical Hebrew teach the Masoretic pronunciation which did not exist prior to the 9th century AD.
    3. Functioning Hebrew grammar also renders it very possible with the patach beneath the yod, the shurig on the vav.
    4. Good question. I will let him dig that out - Answering: that their couldn't have been scores of people who were unsaved because the Name was hidden.
    5. First of all, not all Hebrew is accented on the last syllable (the ultimate pronunciation); there is a second pronunciation called the penultimate which places the accent on the second to last syllable. However in the case of the name, they are pronounced evenly without accent.
    6. He is incorrect on changing the sound of hey to ah changes it to a consonant. Look at the words Sarah, Torah, Shalomah. No one says Toray.
    7. I guess he needs to wipe out the references to Eloah in Job and Daniel. Answering: AH changes it to a feminine suffix.
    8. Have him look up Strong's H433 אֱלוֹהַּ 'ĕlôah
    9. I have written an extensive blog on this. The vowel sound he supports is an election which is overridden by the vast bulk of scripture. Halleluyah - not halleluyeh. Answering: He prefaced his Name at the Burning Bush with AHYEH ASHER AHYEH.

As I posted elsewhere, I do not take issue with the way Dr. Pigeon pronounces YHWH (eeahooah) but the transliteration that forces readers into error (eeaHOOah). One of my best friends, Alan Horvath pronounced it Yahwah and had good support from Aramaic tradition, but as I point out and I think was missed in your dialogue (#6) was the 2nd Hay is being forced into a consonant with the transliteration of "Yahuah."
By using "Eloah" (#8) to give answer to the masculine/feminine question is clutching at straws. It is not a name, and even admits that AhyEH asher AhyEH is the correct suffix when the root word hayah is compounded...
What I would really love to know is why he chose to use Yahuah over Yahwah, which would have saved a lot of pronunciation error!
Second, I would rather see a response to Yahusha, which is really the one that has no Biblical support and I see others claiming all sorts of straight up lies about "shua" vs. "sha."

    • @charleshoffman3830
      @charleshoffman3830 2 роки тому +1

Thank you for your response. I love Alan's teachings. In my prayer language the Name comes out as YAHWAH or YAHWHAH, so that's how I say it. When I say YAHWHAH, the way Alan taught, it sounds like YAHUAH. I use the Name YAHUSHA because of Dr. Pidgeons detailed teaching about Joshua's name being the same as Mashiach's. I've stayed away from Yeshua since it means salvation, and seems to be in Scripture many times apart from a name. The bottom line for me is that I don't know Hebrew but I desire to speak the Names correctly. You and Dr. Pidgeon teach with authority. So did Alan with the Paleo Aramaic Hebrew Otiot. I think he said YAHSHUA. Do you see the dilemma?

@@charleshoffman3830 - As I say, Yahwah I do not really take issue with, but YaHUah, but bear in mind that Aramaic, although it is a sister language to Hebrew, has different grammatical rules, which is why, as well as the historical evidence, I still maintain Yahweh.
You are correct that the Messiah has the same name as Yahoshua Bin Nun, which is why I included the oldest written appearances of his name and as anyone can clearly see, is spelled with a waw between the shin and ayin.

Hi Ken and Linda! We hope you are well, Phyllis and I are doing well.
A point to consider as we move slowly toward the study of the 4 vowels of the Name Yod-Hay-Uau-Hay; the letter we use in English called "double - U" (VV) is no older than the 15th century and the invention of the Gutenberg movable-type printing press. The first major job for Gutenberg was the printing of the entire Latin Vulgate in Latin (English uses the Latin alphabet as its letters by the way). The V-shaped Latin letter sounded as a U.
By fashioning two V-shapes into one piece of type, the printer would save time and space when able to make use of it in words demanding two consecutive V's. At that time, the V still sounded as a vowel, but over time the phonology of the letter changed into a consonant.
The letter W is entirely foreign to Eberith, as well as Greek and Latin. The spelling YAHWEH is therefore improper.
    Thanks for listening!
    ~Lew White

As you should well know by now, Lew, we are using TRANSLITERATION to allow an English reader to speak the Name, so we are at liberty to use ANY English letters necessary to do so and spell it any way we need to achieve this. In my country, I could spell it with four vowels, IAUE and almost everyone would pronounce it correctly. Spelling Yahueh/Yahuah automatically makes an English reader vocalize the HU (HOO), thus making it a consonant, which is why there are so many believers pronouncing wrong!
By the way, I don't know anyone called Linda...

    • @LewWhite10
      @LewWhite10 Рік тому +6

@@2besavedcom-7 The sound is the objective, you're absolutely correct. The unity of transliteration will ultimately be achieved at the point we stop using foreign scripts entirely. We will all read and speak authentic Eberith when Yahuah purifies our lips completely. Meanwhile, we slog along with Latin letters and recently formed uses of them.
The early Greek transliteration of the four vowels is IAOUE. Because "YAHWEH" is two syllables, and that's incompatible with other Eberith forms such as "YashaYAHU" or "AliYAHU," as to be consistent with our transliteration of letters would demand these be "YashaYAHW" and "AliYAHW." H3091 (YAHUSHA) would turn out to be "YAHWSHA."
The confusion can settle-down a great deal with very little effort. Yahuah hears us speaking to one another concerning His Name, and Malaki 3:16-17 describes us as His "treasured possession" (SEGULAH). Good talk brother, may Yahusha guide us into more knowledge and understanding, but even more for us to share His LOVE.

As mentioned in the video, I see all the historical evidence leans to Yahweh as the pronunciation, but Yahwah as an Aramaic (sister language to Hebrew) as a possible option, but find zero evidence for Yahusha.
I notice you make no comment in regard to the evidence presented, yet transliterate the Messiah's Name as Yahusha. Take note of the earliest example in the video - יהשוע (Yahshua) and the numerous examples from the DSS - יהושוע (Yahushua) and almost every reference close to the Messiah's birth - ישוע (Y'shua).
All forms include the suffix: shin, waw, ayin, and as mentioned, the practice of "defective spelling" is a rather common occurrence.

Honestly, you can use any English letters you want to transliterate a foreign word as long as the reader can understand. Yaueh, Iaue, Iawe, etc.
What I find is that when a "u" is used, people in the western world tend to say YaHOOah, yet all the letters - yod, hay, waw, hay are historically vowels, thus emphasizing the H in Yahu is incorrect.
If it concerns you that you may be pronouncing His Name wrong, this is a good thing, so just stick to Yah (used multiple times in the Texts) until you feel satisfied with your research.

Yes, I'm familiar with Mr. Gordon and have paid little attention to his studies other than a cursory glance due to the fact that he possesses a "spirit of Antichrist" (denies the Messiah) but as mentioned in the video "Yehovah" is an impossibility with Hebrew grammar.
To be honest, I don't know why all the Greek MSS use Theos and Kurios, but the Peshitta gives clues to where YHWH might be used with it's use of the Tile MarYah. I personally believe that Yahshua did indeed use the Name Yahweh when quoting from the OT prophets.

If not, then we should consider that His name should not be what other pagan fake mighty ones have been called? Just a thought.
I know the antichrist will come in the name of our messiah, so perhaps Abba did allow fake ones to take his name?
The evidence for Yehowah is in some parts of the masoretic text from what I understand. Other written evidence exists of the oral passing on of this pronunciation - confirmed in letters from Rabbi to Rabbi and other documents. Many found in the Vatican archives so who knows if they’re reliable or not?!
I agree that we should have our eyes open and not be deceived by those who have the spirit of antichrist, but I also know that the tribe of Judah have been entrusted with many precious jewels of knowledge - eg. which day the sabbath is - so we would be unwise to dismiss a witness.
Yehowah (written as Jehovah) was used in European bibles before 1611.
I’m not saying Yehowah is definitely right, I’m just agreeing it’s worth more exploration :)
I’ve also come across Jeff A Benner recently and he is very good at explaining what the pronunciation possibilities are that would fit within the grammatical rules of ancient Hebrew. I’m sure you’re aware of his work, just mentioning it for the benefit of others.

This was revealed to me by YAHSHUA Himself, when He appeared to me in the FLESH, on three separate occasions, two to three weeks apart of each other, when I had surrendered my whole life to “Jesus Christ” from Roman Catholisism, in 2011..at the age of 53 years.. I was repeatedly visited by the demon gods that I had just renounced at the time..specifically the demon god behind the Virgin Mary.. and from saying the Rosary.. I “tried” to called out to “Jesus” to come and save me from these demons (2x monkey like demons with cat like ears and no tails) but I was paralysed with fear that I could not speak.. then YAHUSHUA appeared to me in the flesh and REVEALED to me that HE is NOT “Jesus”..the one I was led to believe all of my RC years.. was the “Messiah”. For He did NOT appear like “Jesus” by one distinctive way… HE was not European in colour and His hair was not European in texture. I did not see His face as His hair hung down beside His face obscuring from my view. But I saw His left hand and wrist only.. He was surely in the flesh.. I saw the pores in His skin at the wrist joint and the wrinkles in His wrist joint between His hand and wrist.. He appeared to me as He is described by Isaiah 63:1-4 and the instant He entered my bedroom the demons fled with great terror and great speed. Two weeks later I had another experience but this time, long story short, again I was paralysed with fear that I could not call upon His name (Jesus) when my mouth was forced open and with great effort I cried out…”Y…A..H….Shua”.. and the demon dark black blob like figure of energy somewhat.. vanished into thin air..
From that day onwards I KNOW without a shadow of doubt that YAHSHUA IS THE SON’s Name.. (I believe this is the shortened version because I somehow understood at the time, it was easier for me to pronounce three syllables than to pronounce four syllables when paralysed with fear..)
YOUR Pronunciation OF YAHUAH IS CORRECT.

@@2besavedcom-7 I agree that it can’t be easy to know whether or not people have actually had revelation from Elohim or from another spirit, though they may appear sincere and genuine. I have tried so hard to tell all my brothers and sister whom are all in Australia, I made the journey there especially, just to tell them what was revealed to me. But sadly I left Australia with no more a family, for I was ridiculed and told that I was being “self righteous”..to make such a declaration of seeing “Jesus” in the flesh.. “WHY would He appear to me!” Was their response..
I truly believe that only YAHUAH can reveal these things to only those to whom He wishes to reveal the secret things of Elohim to. For OnlybHE knows our hearts. Because indeed these are the secret things of Elohim as no man anywhere has the written truth about these secret things which YAHUAH Elohim has hidden from us..because of our hardness of heart, and our disobedience and our profaning of His Set Apart Name by syncretising YAHUAH worship with the pagan gods worshiped by the “religions” of nations.
If our hearts are truly sincere in seeking Him with ALL of our entire beings, He will know. Then He will Himself reveal to those people. “The secret things of Elohim belong to Him. But those things that are revealed to us belong unto us and to our children forever.” Deuteronomy 29:29
“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me, I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation who did not call on my name.” Isaiah 65:1
Remember that the very same people who gave us our Septuagint Bible in 285 BC and the Masoretic texts…are the very same people who hated and despised YAHUAH and hence did everything they could to BLOT our His name from us, forever..
YAHWEY AND YAHUAH ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. AS ALSO IS JESUS AND YAHSHUA, OR YAHUSHA AND YAHUSHUA , OR CHRIST AND MASHIACH.. YAHWEY IS THE ANCIENT CANNANITE GOD. NOT THE GOD OF ABRAHAM ISSAC AND JACOB.. JESUS CHRIST IS THE ANTI MESSIAH..THE GRECCO ROMAN GOD OF ANCIENT SUN GOD WORSHIP..
SATAN IS NOT STUPID..HE IS THE GREAT DECEIVER..AND THE GREAT COUNTERFEIT.. HE PLAYS WORD GAMES USING THE HEBREW LANGUAGE TO DECEIVE AND DELUDE THE WHOLE WORLD..ESPECIALLY WHEN HE KNOWS HE IS LOSING HOLD ON THE CHILDREN OF ELOHIM.. AS THEY COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH..

I’m new to this and I have a few questions. Youre video was very helpful and with me having no knowledge of Hebrew whatsoever I am in need of some assistance. What do you think about the word Yahovah or Jehovah because Ive heard a lot of people saying “hovah” in Hebrew means disaster/destruction/ruin and by saying “Yah”-“Hovah” you are saying “God of destruction” which isnt right. 2. What about the name Jesus? Do we call him Jesus still or stay with the name Yahushua and lastly, What can i call him besides “Lord” and “God” because Ive realized what you have said about them is true and I still want to show my Father respect.

    • @2besavedcom-7
      @2besavedcom-7  8 місяців тому

1.) While it is true that "howah/hovah" (הוּה) means ruin, calamity, etc. I'm a bit hesitant to chop Hebrew words in pieces unless they're compound words, a bit like removing a "k" from "sink" and saying it's "sin."
Both Yahovah and Yehovah are derived from the addition of Masoretic niqqud (vowel points) that were added to pronounce Adonai, rather than Yahweh.
2.)I believe that a Yahweh overlooks our ignorance for a time, but once we know the truth, and then return to an error, or sin, we are accountable: "Truly, then, having overlooked these times of ignorance, Elohim now commands all men everywhere to repent." (Acts 17:30)
3.) I use multiple titles, like Father, Elohim, Adonai, Almighty, El Shaddai, but He has one Name that there are hundreds of Texts commanding us to call on His Name, either Yah (as in halleluYah) or Yahweh.
Hope this helps. If you have any more detailed questions, feel free to email me info @ 2besaved com.

Thanks, brother, for this informative video. One point of unhappiness is your preference of Halleluyah Scriptures. • @2besavedcom-7
      @2besavedcom-7  2 місяці тому +1

      How do you define "plagiarism"?
Can the Word of Yahweh be copyrighted?
If a translation is given for FREE, and I quote from the isr Scriptures:
"This translation is not sold, it is given free!"
By their own definition, the TRANSLATION is to be given freely, which ceased when Chris Koster passed away...
      HalleluYah Scriptures restored that vision.
I agree that the Scriptures is an excellent translation and the HalleluYah Scriptures is similar, but took it a number of steps further to better the translation, restoring the Psalms intro's that were removed by isr and also restoring ten additional Psalms from the DSS (Ps 151-160) along with numerous other details corrected from errors using the Aramaic Texts and the DSS.

While Yahushua (יהושוע) is the FULL spelling of the Messiah's Name, Hebrew does use abbreviations which are seen in the Texts:
      Yahshua (יהשוע)
      Yeshua (ישוע)
The last one is my least advised one to use, because it removes the Name of Yahweh almost completely and was popular around the time of the Messiah due to the fact that the Jewish leaders had banned the use of the Name Yahweh.
There is no historical written or oral evidence whatsoever for Yehusha or Yahusha.

      It's both :)
The Name of the Father appears in Scripture in three forms:
The full Tetragrammaton spelling Yahweh (יהוה)
      The Trigrammaton spelling Yahu (יהו)
      The Digrammaton spelling Yah (יה)
Likewise three spellings of Yahshua appear in Texts:
      the full spelling Yahushua (יהושוע)
      the Digrammaton prefix Yahshua (יהשוע)
      and abbreviated Y'shua/Yeshua (ישוע)
It is clear that Yeshua was the more popular spelling during the time of the Messiah, likely to do with the fact that the Name Yahweh was banned by the scribes and priesthood.
The Aramaic usage is also Y'shua/Yeshua as it is a sister tongue to Hebrew, but does have a few number if differences and grammatical rules.

Hosea 2:16 is the one time in the whole written WORD where this is stated and HE said don't call HIM "Baal" call HIM "HUSBAND". Some translations say "master"... Is this not a devisive issue? All the gospel songs singing to HIM referring to GOD and LORD are they envoking someone else, I would think not. Does GOD not look at the heart of man to see if our hearts are pointing to HIM? WHO gives man the ability to speak and have knowledge to form words anyway but THE MOST HIGH... Does our Heavenly Father not have mercy or compassion for our cries to HIM whether we say GOD LORD or YAHWEH? HE looks at the heart of man. I really feel conviction inside for turning away from calling HIM what is in scripture. What version of the bible do we need to seek to get the real truth then? Didn't HE say go into the world and tell the good news thus allowing transliteration and translation?

Hallelu YAH. In all getting, get wise. The English translation of Baal is lord or master. The Hebrew name Gad is pronounced gawd. Refer to a concordance. The Most High is Sovereign over and Owner of all. In English monarchy, a lord is subject to a king, so lord is an inferior title. There are no J, V, or W sounds in Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek, the three languages English translations are translated from. The names James, John, Yahweh, Yahveh, Jehovah, and Jesus are inauthentic.
Where LORD or GOD appears in English translations, the Most High's name was there. Refer to a concordance. There are concordances free online. Yes, Abba YAH knows the heart. Ask Abba to lead you away from ignorance, deception, and idolatry and to truth, righteousness, and deliverance.
When people are in a relationship, they know each other's names. Proverbs 30:4.
Reality is Sovereign YAHUEH's narrative unfolding to the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20; 20:10; 20:14-15). The two witnesses make all clear during the three-and-a-half years of their witness (Matt 24:14) when Sovereign YAHUEH's seven messengers blow the seven trumpets. Revelation 9. After comes the outpouring of the seven bowls of Sovereign YAHUEH's wrath.
Overcoming death, and earning the crown of immortality, like Messiah YAHUSHA of Natsaret did, requires surrendering all. Down to Jesus (EA Zeus). Idolatry erects a barrier between Sovereign YAHUEH and someone.

As I've replied to numerous people ignorant of how transliteration works, there is NO a, or b, or c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k,l, m, etc. in Hebrew because these are ENGLISH letters.
HOWEVER, Hebrew (ancient too) DOES have a W sound and that is what linguists do when transliterating a foreign word.
The "double U" was simply added to the alphabet to represent the ooh sound made when pursing the lips to vocalize this phonetic.
One could write Uayiqqra as the third Book of Mosheh, but most people have no clue how to pronounce this. It is better to render this Wayiqqra to arrive at the correct pronunciation.
Likewise with Yahweh... If one rendered Yahueh, it misleads the reader to say YaHOOeh, which is incorrect as all the letters in the Trigrammaton are VOWELS.
In my country, I could write IAUE (as the Greeks did) and everyone would pronounce it correctly, so it's not so much as HOW you spell it, but does it achieve the correct pronunciation.

Just to clarify, there is no A, no B, C, D, E, F, G, etc in Hebrew. We use English letters to try to represent letters in foreign alphabets and the process of writing a Hebrew name (or any foreign name) is called transliteration.
One could transliterate Yahweh as Yaueh, Iaue, Yahway etc. and as long as it's representing the pronunciation, it's fine.
There is an E (א) sound in Hebrew and F (פ) an I (י) an O (ו) which can function as a W in both modern and paleo Hebrew in case you're interested :)

Sincere question and not with a presumptuous tone of argument. The Hebraic rules you speak of, are they modern Hebrew or Paleo Hebrew. Who established these rules? I ask because upon research, I've come to understand that Yiddish plays a huge role in modern Hebrew language rules.

    • @2besavedcom-7
      @2besavedcom-7  Рік тому

Yiddish has nothing to do with Biblical Hebrew. The pronunciations and Grammar were all documented even before the Masoretes (5th-6th century) developed the niqqud system.
On your last point: correct. Ancient Hebrew is unable to be studied, however, what we are able to do is compare transliteration of contemporary languages (Egyptian, Phoenician, Babylonian, etc) to see how they copied names and places. Because the proto-Hebrew was once thought to be Phoenician, linguists actually have a lot to compare with.
There is much that can be assumed about dialect and this could be a real factor, which is why I don't mind at all if people say Yahwah (not YoHOOah) and there's even an account in Scripture that discusses this (Jdg 12:6)

As I have attempted to show in the video, Hebrew utilizes abbreviation as well as "defective spelling" and the Messiah's Name appears in Hebrew Texts as Yahushua (full spelling), Yahshua (see paleo at 12:39), and Yeshua/Y'shua (popular at the time of Messiah due to leadership ban on use of the Name YHWH)
I prefer to use Yahshua when transliterating because when most folks see Yahushua, they tend to say "YaHOOshua" which is poor pronunciation, but rather YahuSHUA (YowSHUA).
The "hay" in Hebrew is often treated as a vowel letter and more of a breath than an "H" which is why even Jews to this day say "Yudah" (YooDAH) instead of "Yahudah" (YaHOOdah).
It's all about experience and I recommend all believers study as much Hebrew grammar as they have time for :)

What is philology? “Philology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the structure, historical development, and relationships of a language or languages.” In other words, the love of learning literature by the study of words, names, and written records in order to determine authenticity. With that understanding comes the affirmation that “YAHSHUA” is the revealed name of the Savior, however, this name YAHSHUA was suppressed by the Jews (Acts 4:18), and within a short time later, the common Aramaic name “Yeshua” was used as Christ’s name by the Jews, however, the Apostolic Church of the 1st century held to the revealed name of YAHSHUA. Accordingly, sometime later, the Aramaic name Yeshua was transliterated into the Greek language causing the pronunciation “Iesous,” which is where we get, according to the Latin language, the name and pronunciation of “Iesus.” This name (Iesus) and spelling can be found in the 1611 English version of the Bible. The result is that the revealed name of YAHSHUA, the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and the very name “which has the name (YAH) which is above every name” (Exodus 3:15; Philippians 2:9), being strongly suppressed by Jews and later obscured by an apparent linguistic evolution enhancing the Gentiles seeking to establish Christianity to be less Jewish, and then the transliteration of the Aramaic name pronounced “Yeshua” to the Greek name pronounced “Iesous,” and thus causing the revealed name of the Messiah to be even more obscured. Based on these reasons the name YAHSHUA could be understood to be a “philological impossibility,” however, its authenticity can be found in the New Testament.
Although well known and accepted since the 17th century, the name Jesus is not the true name of salvation according to the revelation of God. The present alleged name of the Savior (Jesus) is not historically His true name, and thus the name “Jesus” can also be considered a “philological impossibility.” There is no such name in Hebrew, and the name Jesus did not exist for 1, 600 years after Christ, a historic fact. According to history, and the fact that this name Jesus has only been in existence in its present form since the 17th century, which gives us irrefutable evidence that the name Jesus was never the name of the Savior in His lifetime. This has been stated by scholars, such as the eminent scholar Ernest Renan, who stated that the Savior was never in His lifetime called “Jesus,” (Ernest Renan, The Life of Jesus, p. 90). In the year of 1611, the English Bible did not have the name “Jesus,” but it had the name “Iesus.” The letter “J” is the last consonant letter to be added to the English alphabet (see “J”, The Encyclopedia Americana). Iesus is Latin, and therefore, the name Jesus is of Latin origin, and not a Hebrew or an English name. The English letter “Y” correctly corresponds to the Hebrew letter of YOD. Scholars know that the true name of Christ is not Jesus, and that the English name is more rendered as “Joshua,” which comes from the Aramaic name Yeshua, a name acknowledged by scholars to be the more likely name of Christ, and a common name in the regions of Judea at the time of the Messiah (Ilan, Tal, “Lexicon of Jewish Names in Late Antiquity” Part I: Palestine 330 BCE-200 CE, p. 129). The name Yeshua at the time of the Savior was a name held by many, and therefore was as common as the name “Mike” is in America.
Yahweh (יהוה‎ transliterated as YHWH and represented in the Bible as “LORD”) based on the four consonant letters of God’s name according to modern scholarship. This name has reached a consensus to transcribe as “Yahweh” (Alter, Robert, The Hebrew Bible: A Translation with Commentary, Volume 3, 2018). The shortened form "YAH” appears in personal names and in phrases such as “Jeremiah,” and “HalleluYAH.” The sacredness of the name, as well as the Commandment against "taking the name ‘in vain’”, and fears of Gentiles profaning the name led to the increasingly strict prohibitions on speaking or pronouncing HaShem (the Name) in writing. Rabbinic sources suggest that, by the Second Temple period, the name of God was pronounced only once a year, by the high priest, on the Day of Atonement (The Cambridge History of Judaism: The Late Roman-Rabbinic Period, p. 779, William David Davies, Louis Finkelstein, Steven T. Katz - 2006).
