Wow the memories that came flooding back into my mind seeing the Yonge street storefront and that walk in through the store into the record shop in the back - incredible! Can't wait to see this doc 🍿

This place touched so many souls. High school GO train from Ajax in the mid 90s do the walk hitting Play De, Traxx. I was always looking for dancehall 45s, hip hop and Jungle toward the end of the 90s. But the greatest thing was always hearing something I was not looking for at all, played on the main system. Like a house tune that caused everyone to pause and request a copy. Looking forward to watching.

This was a great documentary. It took me back to my teenage years. What a great era for all music. DJ culture and the music industry as a whole will never be the same.

YES! Going to PDR was MY time, I went alone because it was a minimum 2-hour experience, I flipped through EVERYTHING! I loved that they trusted their best customers so listen to a pile or records on their turntables cause they KNEW they would be making a few bills EASY. The majority of my amazing collection is from that little piece of heaven!! To this day, my favourite record ever, Love is Blind by Nick Holder was purchased there and still has the red 10.99 sticker on it!

When is this being released or shown? Would love to see this. Eugene and the rest of the Play De fam were great to work along with back in the mid 90's. Many good memories. Most memorable is getting in an argument with mc 2Rude over the phone and he came down to fight. Luckily Donna calmed him down. Oh yea I forgot this one....2 clowns started a fight with me out front while taking a smoke break and it ended up in the store we knocked down alot of the porn and other stuff on shelves up front and I ended up with califlower ear after that fight. Anyways love this store. Big Ups To Play De Record and all the old school vinyl stores i used to hit up back in the day. Starsound then Traxx, Carnival Records, Koch Records and Rotate This were the prime spots back in the 80's 90's

@@nuffaction5464 I dunno. I was in the store several times. I never felt any feeling of "community". The staff werent friendly. It was confusing and not particularly well-organized for DJs
The only thing that stands out in my head was just the number of records they had.
But the way it's talked up here sure doesnt reflect my experience of the store.

@@kristansmith1757 i personally can attest that every DJ that was there’s every Thursday for years , are all friends to this day it was a community made of strong music adoration. For sure if you were new you’d think the staff/The Tams were uptight.. but after they knew you you were fam . I’ve seen the documentary and it’s hilarious how many people think that Eugene’s dad wanted to cut their heads off😂
