Its a good job, few tips leave your phone in your bag and forget about time, listen to your driller carefully, be thick skinned do not let things get to you and for your first couple of swings dont bother with lifting in the gym after work let your body adjust until you are well and trully used to it...... also stay clear of the wet mess.
I have a question well, I work at holcim cement plant and I worked out in the quarry and I drive articulated hual truck I’m trying to find bigger mines to work at cause I know they pay way more money and also I wanna get with a company that has the bigger haul trucks like the caterpillar 797 but I live in the United States so do I have to relocate?
I would be talking more about health & safety.. like silicosis.. even with the best respirator it's getting in your lungs. Small doses will kill you. What are your thoughts on that.. I went n got all the requirements 4 this job & about 2 start applying.. now I feel I've wasted my time. I can't believe there's no mention of this lung cancer. Even after reading hours n hours of every aspect of this job..
Because that's just a part of the industry bro. You won't be wearing a respirator all day, only when handling cement. I just finished my 6 months and am in process of switching to the mining crew. Goodluck man, it is a shit job. 😅 Just abit of advice man, if you company has very little opportunity to progress to driller, like there is alotnof trainees waiting for a spot and lots of offsiders keen to get promoted to trainee, plan your escape. Don't be one of those guys doing this shit job for 3 or 4 years in hopes of getting your Driller level 1. Swap to the mining crew, you'll progress faster to more money and easier roles. I'm keen to never have extremely salty water spurting into my face ever again 😂 and to nor get covered in grease and salt, covered in small cuts and rashes and warts etc. Stick it out for atleast 6 months then run 😂 if no drilling spots are available that is.
The qualifications she spoke about, the audio wasn't clear to me. I have played over and over and still couldn't get her. Can you pls put those qualifications in writing? Thanks.
Hi Alana.. Thanks for your very useful video about the job, I am thinking of heading to the mine for job, is it true that the 2weeks on 1week off .. Fifo (for the 2weeks working you gotta do 14days straight of 12hrs shift with no day off? Thanks

Awesome advice
Thanks for that Alana and Kirsty. Yes I have been on the fence about it applying for a role as a D.O. I think I'll revisit. Cheers!
Anytime and good luck 😊😊

Hi Alana, I’m watching your programs from Japan lately. I’ll jump in once I get the working visa!
Awesome and thanks for your comment 😊
Hi Alana really enjoying your videos with real people,I’d like to ask would you say there is an age limit to working on the mines
Cheers and there isn’t an age limit. If you can pass the pre-employment medical you’re good to go
U have to be 18 obviously

Yes 14 days straight of 12 hour shifts. Then 7 days off. Not for everyone.
I couldn't understand how many minutes she said for the plank.
only 1.5 for the plank which was very surprising as that's the time for most standard medicals.
Whyd she leave ?
Got a higher paying job
