I found out my straight laced and proper Bajan grandmother's favorite calypsonian was The Duke of Iron. She lived in Harlem from 1908 until her death in 1994. Born in St. Michael, raised in Christ Church. Listening to his various recordings, I hear and see why. She had good taste!!
The gentleman playing clarinet is Gregory Felix (real name Gregorio Felix Delgado) born in Puerto Rico. He was recruited by Lt. James Reese Europe to take part in the All-Black N.Y. 15th National Guard orchestra during WW1.
