      Thanks, the knee is on the mend with physical therapy now at one time per week plus doing exercises at home everyday. The helicopters are so fun to watch. I loved this trip because I got to see the AMC staff working together.

    As an almost 30 year old iv been going through a little depression about being “old”. Iv been feeling overwhelmed with how easily tired i get these days. Watching you be so positive about embracing your age and the ability to get out and hike really brightened my day and put things into perspective for me. Thank you!

      Each decade brings that whole topic on you again. You think you get over it and then the next decade it shows up again. Luckily there are some bright sides, too. I absolutely feel old but I also feel free. Good luck with your journey. Fight that fatigue! (not sure how but you'll figure it out...)

    I always wanted to see a heli supply but the best is watching the sail planes play on the updrafts on the sumit of Layfayette

    That was really neat seeing the helicopter replenishment. That's intense work. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks. This is one of my favorite videos because the helicopter added a lot of excitement.

    Great hike, and I like the bird ID clips. Btw, the frogs are wood frogs. They make a clucking sound to attract mates. Never seen helicopter lift at the hut only from the launch area, back in the 60s.

    As one of the crew that was doing the supply lifts. Thank you very much for hopping in and helping to sling boxes! I thought you looked familiar the number of times I walked by you.

    Great video! thank you so much for posting. I thought the huts were supposed to cook you you supper and breakfast. Although your pancakes looked delicious! I just found your page. I've got some catching up to do!

      The huts cook your meals during the summer full service season, which costs over 100 dollars per person. But during the shoulder season or winter, there are few guests so they let you cook and clean up for yourself in the kitchen. Both times are fun! Some huts don't have off-season but they list the dates on Outdoors.org.

    It's been ages since I went up Old Bridal Path because I hated the bouldering. It appears as though there has been a lot of work done and the boulders have been turned into stairs. I guess a hike up to Greenleaf hut in on the list for the Winter.
    The hut must have just been opening for the season to get that many provisions.

      Yes, Greenleaf is open only for summer so this video was in the spring when they were getting opened up and ready for guests. It is still a beautiful hike in the winter but conditions can be so harsh that the hut cannot stay open and hikers only do day hikes (as far as I know).

    Very nice overnighter. Rachel how far in advance do you need to make reservations for lodging?

    • @RachelWhelton
      @RachelWhelton  Рік тому

      Technically you can do it upon arrival. But it is wise to call ahead if possible to assure there is space available.

    Vegetation is a lot different on this trail down on some of the others I've seen on your videos.

      Yes, mostly due to it being earlier in the spring than I go out sometimes. Maybe also because I was farther north and/or at higher elevation.
