A new long distance walk designed by ME! YEH! - lol
The Grand Tour of Northumberland is 480 miles from Wylam to Morpeth, snaking around the Northumberland countryside trying to fit in as many points of interest as possible.
    Section 1: Wylam to Bywell
In this section we cover the railway heritage of Wylam, pass two former collieries, visit a Norman castle as well as seeing another, two Anglo-Saxon church towers, the birth place of three famous Northumbrians, one of the oldest railways in the world, and one of the oldest thru-arch bridges in the world.
Not every section will be this jam packed with historical interest, some will celebrate the Northumbrian countryside... But every section will have at least one point of interest, most have more than one. So please subscribe so that you don't miss any of the next 52+ walks.
    To be continued...
    Section 2: • EP 2 Bywell to Hexham ...

absolutely love this. if you do get a book out of it I would certainly buy it. It's great that you take your time to notice all the stuff around you rather than just rushing to the end. Helps me remember my old walking areas since moving to Yorkshire. Look forward to the rest of your journey.

Great start to what will be a very interesting series Nick. Lots to look forward to with a great mixture of history and scenery. I still have nightmares going over Ovingham Bridge one day with my daughter driving lol. Take care. Mick.

It would be great to join you's on a few stages Nick. You could follow The Wansbeck from Morpeth to Bothal then on to Ashington and Woodhorn but on to Cresswell might mean quite a bit of road walking? Then just follow the new coastal path though The Rivers Wansbeck and Blyth mean slight detours to the bridges. I'll look forward to your e-mail's and seeing the route unfold. Cheers.

Good to see you heading off along a new trail, Nick. Impressive to know that you have devised the route yourself. I hope it gains further recognition as time goes on and I look forward to following. :-) All the best.

Great video. I have been wanting to do a wild camp in the Wylam area. Some where not to for from home. Walked the first part of this video a lot but have not been there for a while now. Thanks Steve.

Good stuff nick. Great idea. I’ll follow your route shouting “I’ve been there” 😆 I’m loving the graphics too. How do you do that??

I liked the first installment of the Grand Tour Nick. I reckon it's a fabulous inspired thought mate. There was plenty in this one - history just itching to be explored. The narrow bridge reminded me of Llansteffan bridge in the Wye Valley, which I recently walked over. As for the pioneers - well this is pioneering in itself. Good going - check your website inbox. I've sent a message. All the best. Mark
