A few chains in the UK like Brewer's Fayre and Greene King, you need to order at the bar and they'll bring it to you, but on the plus side, they tend to be cheaper than places with waiters.
They usually also have refill drinks machines that you can get yourself!
I don't mind that model, Nando's does the same, and I really enjoy Nando's. Customers should have access to condiments though. There were no free refills either, although it was an airport so to be expected.
@@TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel The missing condiments was strange, I assume salt and pepper pots would get stolen quite often at an airport. If you ask at the bar they'd most likely give you some sachets. Did you ever see any carverys too? Like Toby Carvery?
@Larry I didn't see any Tony Carverys as I was only in the airport on a layover as I flew back from Latvia to Spain. I hope to do a trip to England in the future, London looks like a great food city.
Wetherspoons has an area (normally at the end of the bar) with a selection of condiments / sauces. You grab what you want and take it to your table. Impossible to know this if you're not familiar I realise. Wetherspoons gets love and hate in equal measure. It's a decent meal at a good price in my opinion.
@@TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel Wetherspoons and similar chains have dedicated tables/larders where you go and grab the condiments yourself. They are sometimes poorly kept and (nearly) empty, but this is mostly an exception. Not sure if they use this model in airports though, as somebody else mentioned, theft is a consideration. Used to really enjoy Wetherspoons as a cheap yet filling meal option, but since the inflation crisis, their prices have gone up considerably, while their food portions have gotten noticeably smaller.
