While we have baths here (Saratoga Springs, in NY state), they for whatever reason do not have them above luke warm! (they say it'd affect the benefits of the minerals) Also, the baths are each individually given to each patron as a private bath (think a large bath tub). I have always wanted to go to a REAL bath house/town where I could soak. Japan has been so blessed with all the hot springs! We here in the United States are jealous! I always look forward to your videos, and am excited to see what you bring us in the upcoming new year!

Your information and comments are so helpful. The Dango and soba really looks good. We will be visiting Yonezawa Onogawari onsen for the 1st time in the 1st week of December. I was thinking of going to Ginzan onsen for a few nights but getting seats on the bus to and fro is a little concerning (I am not sure when you took the bus). If I may make a suggestion, it will be helpful if you can state the date and year of your visit at the start of the trip and the temperature as you reach the town. That will give us a good idea of the climate conditions and views. Thanks once again.👍🏼

I believe your trip will be roughly a year after mine, so the weather in my video might serve as a useful reference for your journey. I don't remember the temperature exactly, but I think it was probably below 5 degrees Celsius. If you're considering staying at Ginzan Onsen, I recommend booking as soon as possible. @@GetToKnowJapanTogether that’s great. I tried to book Takimikan but they have not opened the dates for December yet. That ryokan is at the end and up on the hill so it’s quieter. But I will do more research and see if we want to do it this Dec or KIV. Thanks for giving me a rough idea of the date so I can consider our choices. We already have 4N at a hotspring ryokan with kaiseki at Onowagari onsen (3 Dec 2024) and are supposed to spend 2-3N in Kawagoe for a change from kaiseki. But if I forego Kawagoe for Ginzan Onsen, then it’s another 3N of kaiseki which may be a little too much after Onowagari. I know it’s not even considered a problem as we are blessed to even be able to consider staying so many nights. We are seniors and like to take it at a leisurely pace. Suppose you want to enjoy a traditional Japanese scenery, I recommend Ouchi-juku in Fukushima Prefecture, where you can change to a local train at Koriyama Station on the way back from Yamagata. Lake Inawashiro is in that area, and swans fly in from Siberia in December. There are hotels in that area, so I think you can enjoy more than just kaiseki cuisine. It is fun to plan a trip! That day is a public holiday in Japan, making it a three-day weekend (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday). However, since it's the last day of the long weekend, I don't think the tourist spots will be very crowded (as everyone is heading home). But on that day, the return Shinkansen might be crowded. All seats on the Yamagata Shinkansen are reserved. If reservations are full, you won't be able to board. Regardless of Japanese holidays, the number of foreign tourists has increased significantly, making the Shinkansen crowded. Please don't forget to book in advance! Shinkansen tickets go on sale one month before the travel date at 10 AM. It's the beautiful season for autumn leaves! I recommend taking a walk in Shirogane Park. Enjoy your trip!🍁

For your information, the last Shinkansen to Tokyo departs from Oshida at 20:12! I hope it won't be crowded on the day you go! However, it generally gets busy during the snow season, so please dress warmly anyway. I recommend "Magma", a body warmer (in Japanese Kairo) sold at convenience stores and drugstores, for added warmth! Have a nice trip🥰

However, JR changes its train schedule every year in March, which may affect the bus time. Please check the link in the description for the latest bus schedule. In February, the sun usually sets after 5:00 p.m., allowing you to enjoy the scenery of Ginzan Onsen after dark by taking the bus. However, if you wait until it is completely dark, you may not be able to board the bus if many people are waiting. (By the way, in December when I visited, the sun was setting after 4:00 pm ) Wishing you good luck on your trip!

Im planning to walk around the village at 16:30 to 17:00 hoping it gets fully illuminated with gas lamps. after 17:00 I will go to the bus stop and line up for the 18:21 bus to oishida train station. Hi! Alvin-san, Your profile picture ramen looks delicious! I filmed this video on December 8th, so I think the sunset on the 13th will be similar. The average sunset time in Ginzan in December is after 4 PM. If the bus is full, you'll have to take a taxi, so it's a good idea to go to the bus stop early and line up. When I went about an hour before the bus departure, no one else was in line yet 😅. The bus should run unless the road is blocked by a landslide or something similar. Waiting for the bus was extremely cold, so please dress warmly! Have a great trip.

For your information, the last Shinkansen to Tokyo departs from Oshida at 20:12! I hope it won't be crowded on the day you go! However, it generally gets busy during the snow season, so please dress warmly anyway. I recommend "Magma", a body warmer (in Japanese Kairo) sold at convenience stores and drugstores, for added warmth! Have a nice trip🥰

The bus departs at 18:21. If you take that bus, you can catch the Shinkansen at 20:12. However, JR changes its train schedule every year in March, which may affect the bus time. Please check the link in the description for the latest bus schedule.
In February, the sun usually sets after 5:00 p.m., allowing you to enjoy the scenery of Ginzan Onsen after dark by taking the bus. However, if you wait until it is completely dark, you may not be able to board the bus if many people are waiting.
(By the way, in December when I visited, the sun was setting after 4:00 pm ) Wishing you good luck on your trip!

Im planning to go on December 13. Do you think it will get dark by 16:30 to see the village light up?
Im planning to walk around the village at 16:30 to 17:00 hoping it gets fully illuminated with gas lamps. after 17:00 I will go to the bus stop and line up for the 18:21 bus to oishida train station.
But im scared what if the bus will get full or cancelled. I dont know if december 13 is crowded with people. What could I do if that happened? Thank you very much.

I filmed this video on December 8th, so I think the sunset on the 13th will be similar. The average sunset time in Ginzan in December is after 4 PM. If the bus is full, you'll have to take a taxi, so it's a good idea to go to the bus stop early and line up. When I went about an hour before the bus departure, no one else was in line yet 😅. The bus should run unless the road is blocked by a landslide or something similar. Waiting for the bus was extremely cold, so please dress warmly! Have a great trip.

@@alvinvillanueva7159 Most of the people who come to Ginzan Onsen are day-trippers, so if you observe the others and act early, you shouldn't have any trouble getting on the bus even if it's crowded! Wishing you good luck!

Thank you for your concern! I am safe! There was a small earthquake in the area where I live, but fortunately, there was no significant damage. However, the damage on the Japan Sea side is severe. 😢
