I can't put my finger on why but I get this vibe of a leveled-up Martina in this video. Same person, same fun style we love - but somehow refreshed and even more rad than ever. Keep living your best life, Martina! Merry Christmas!
Martina’s midnight munchies used to be a binge for me every few months I’m so happy we’re getting munchies back 🥰 I especially love milk tea so that’s even better.
I feel like starting a new channel is kind of like starting a new video game profile -- you're nervous about it at the beginning, you miss all the old stuff for a bit... but then you start to have so much fun starting over again.
I live in Australia and very much do associate warming smells and tastes (ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, etc) with Christmas! Merry Christmas, Martina 🎄🎅
I second this! I think we do add some tropical things to Christmas, like Pavlova smothered in custard cream, mango, strawberries and most importantly, passion fruit pulp! We still eat Christmas Pudding, we have cinnamon in our coffee and Brandy Custard. ❤
All the usual Christmas stuff, but a huge amount of seafood is also sold at this time of year. The Sydney Fish Markets are usually SWAMPED WITH CUSTOMERS.
For those wondering, this is traditionally how Chai is made- pick your proportion of milk to water, add black tea and spices, sweeten and boil. In Indian households we often mix our own blend of spices. My mom adds ground ginger and fresh black pepper in addition to cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Enjoy experimenting!
I love milk tea, but never thought about making it from scratch! This looks so fun, and I love that you can play around with tea flavors! Can't wait to try, thank you for sharing!
An Australian here, I am a First Nation Indigenous person. I'm someone who has never travelled outside of Australia, I don't have the same association with cinnamon as people in N.America. Summertime is when I feel like it's Christmas time. I associate hot days, beach days, cold fruit and seafood with Christmas.
As an Aussie, most of Christmas media portrays winter traditions so yes we associate nutmeg and cinnamon etc. with Christmas however other foods such as seafood and bbq make me think of Christmas too
I also live in Australia but I don’t associate those flavours to Christmas 😅 But the prawns, seafood and firing up the barbie is definitely the iconic themes to a good aussie Christmas! Merry Christmas Everyone!!!! Happy eating!
I was having a little cry thinking of my dad who passed away half a year ago, and then this happy little video popped up. Martina, you haven't failed to give me the happy feelings once since I started watching your videos in my early teens. I am 25 now and you've been the best older sister I never had 🥰
@@KingKogi my 6 year old daughter was sitting next to me while watching this. After you said it wasn't real she said "OHHHH she got me good". She was hanging on your every word about the royal cows!
Martina, I don’t think you realize how perfect the timing of this video is for me. I am literally in the process of putting a peg on my ladder because of this as I’ve been battling through anxiety lately. Though it is a bit late for me to make the royal tea here, I think I’ll go have a chai tea now. Thank you for making this video twice, I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Happy holidays to you ☺️
I live in North Queensland Australia and the smell of fresh mangoes reminds me of Christmas :) Here in Australia we have the perfect weather and land for growing mangoes, and people often buy a big tray of them for Christmas because they're in season at Christmas time and super cheap and delicious :) We put them on pavlovas at Christmas - that's like the go-to Christmas dessert here for Christmas day. But the smell of chai and cinnamon does remind me of Christmas too - especially in eggnog, fruit mince pies, christmas puddings or in cold ginger beer. But prawns are a must have on Christmas!
I made this tonight. My two college age kids and I loved it. I used brown sugar instead of regular sugar. It really warms you up on a cold winter's night.
I am from Newfoundland and my mum always has a giant box of tetley tea in the house. growing up, my nan would make toast (homemade bread of course) and i would dip my toast in the tea. Good memories
Southern Californian here!! We still have a winter season (albeit very mild, my poor little body can’t tolerate anything under 45°F) and warm spiced drinks are always a thing around Christmas-time!!!
I have made this twice now and I love it! First time I made it with a vanilla rose chai, and this time just earl gray with some lavender buds. Thank you for the recipe Martina! 💖
I never use a hair dryer or heat styling tools, and I leave in my conditioner in the shower for at least 5 min + leave in conditioner once semi dry. Gotta baby that hair if you want to keep it platinum
Hey Martina, I always appreciate your attention to detail. Love the cute snowman by the stove. I love everything you do! You're a huge inspiration to me for my own videos
Thank you for noticing the little details! Before I start filming, I always think about the things people can secretly find hiding around in the video 🔍
That is so yummy .. we make a similar one and I learnt it from my Syrian coworker .. He once brought some with biscuits to celebrate his child's birth and it was tea with cardamom and cinammon. I was told to bring it to boil a couple of times .. with taking it off heat .. for few minutes in between .. I think that's the same concept :)
Been a long time sub and haven’t made much comments but I am so happy to see you so happy again! I missed this Martina, intelligent, quirky, funny. Keep building those ladders!
I just love tea! Been watching your channel off and on these past few years. First time subscribing. You are such a joy! Cheering you on Martina! Thank you for the recipe.
When I travelled in India I had badam milk chai (badam=almond - it's ground almonds in dairy milk w/ masala chai). They strain it from one vessel to another from quite the impressive height before serving it. Thanks to your video I now know what that's about! Definitely gonna try a version with soy milk I reckon. Thanks, happy holidays!
Australian here, and yes I do associate ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and other warm scents with Christmas but also personally I associate other more summer smells. like watermelon, lemonade, and coconut with Christmas time as well, mainly because my family will have a picnic at our local park for Christmas. :)
I always find the park picnics and beach bbq conversations about Christmas with my Australian friends SO interesting because it is just incredibly different than how I grew up experiencing Christmas 🎄
Somehow we manage to ignore that it is in the 80's outside and still have a great Christmas. The smell of spices and cookies baking bring alive the Holiday Season no matter where one is. Living near the Gulf Coast cold is a rarity. Royal Milk Tea is such a nice treat, thanks for sharing this version and we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy (Better) New Year!
I am so grateful for finding Martina’s channel. Recently have been going thru a lot of changes. Partner left me, spent Christmas alone, scared about job and future anxiety overall etc. Just subscribed because I love Martina and the community. I was recently reminded about the building a ladder and would love an updated vid or suggestions from ppl in the comments, on how to overcome anxiety, pressures and how to move towards/ live a more positive and productive life.
"Yippie ki-yay, Mister Falcon." 😅 I've lived mainly in desert climates my whole life (southern California & Nevada). Other than it not being quite as cold as other spots, all the usual holiday stuff is normal in these parts. This time of year always reminds me of helping make and eat lots of snickerdoodle cookies with the family.
As a southern californian, yes all those warm spices still remind us of the holiday season! While it doesn't get below freezing in socal, we still get chilly weather with night time temperatures even dropping to the 30's (fahrenheit of course) ! Additionally, we aren't so far from the mountains where there is sometimes snow, so we can still experience those white christmases if we drive up there. But even in the desert areas, it gets really chilly at night! So warm teas and hot chocolate are still things we partake in during wintertime :)
Just wanna say, I’m always so happy to wake up and see your content Martina. Whether it be your cool videos on Instagram talking about cilantro or Japan or the videos on UA-cam, you really make a big impact on our lives. Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to you and King Kogi!
Not gonna lie, I didn't expect much to come out of a recipe for a beverage that pretty much is made of a few ingredients only. But wow did you put much effort into preparing this!❤️ Makes me see the drink I would buy in Japan all the time in a wholly different light😁 (though let's face it, I don't think there are scores of Martinas pouring tea back and forth wherever Royal Milk Tea is being produced...) lovely video and totally worth it recording it twice!
This video is so relaxing. I hope this channel becomes as popular as your old channel! I've always loved your work and I hope many others will get to enjoy it as well. You deserve a financial reward for all the hard work you've put into entertaining all of us and sharing your story.
omg 3:20 !!! i always wondered why hot tea made from bags made my mouth and throat hurt (not related to temperature), but i love iced teas of all kinds (so i'm not allergic). the astringency from the quality of tea i'm using must be it! thank you so much for continuing to teach me so much, Martina! 💖💕💖💞💖
My suggestion for a smooth black tea is a Yunnan (China) region whole leaf tea- their trees are some of the oldest in the world and mature trees have more flavor with less astringency. Assam varietals can also be more astringent (most Indian tea- which include Earl Greys, English or Irish Breakfast teas- because colonization), which is why they’re usually served with sugar and cream.
The way you pour the tea between pots reminds me of teh tarik! Back when I worked in a boba tea place, we would pull our tea there too. I had no idea it was a more common practice but it really amps up the flavor.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS RECIPE FOR YEARS! Ages ago, you did a video on the EYK channel where you made ぷりん (purin!) and you said the extra sugar in the bottom of the pot could be made into royal milk tea. I could never find the bonus video so I'm so happy you've made a whole video dedicated to it!
I'm from Southern California and I don't really think of it as a warm place like Australia. I can go one hour in winter to the desert or the other direction to the mountains and ski. So Christmas means nutmeg, cinnamon, abuelita hot chocolate, tamales, and trips to our local Christmas tree farm. Pine also reminds me of Christmas. We take walks around the neighborhood to look at the lights and drink eggnog and eat candy canes and sit by the fireplace. And we decorate the house and put oranges with cloves stuck in them everywhere. I think it's more an easter tradition, but my mom used to get that wax egg decorating stuff, where you melt the wax onto the egg shell and dye it in different patterns and layers. We always had Christmas egg shells. I think the only time I didn't really do Christmas was when I lived in South Korea.
Oh martina 😂💜 It might not snow everywhere in California but it still does get cold! Warm smells like cinnamon, nutmeg, etc instantly bring me to christmastime 🥰🎄🙌
In fairness, Canada cold and Cali cold is relative! -10 Celsius (14 F) is considered a pretty average winter day up here. I guess when it’s -35 C and our tears and snot are freezing to our face, we feel like no one else can be as miserable as us 😂😂
Idk why, but this video just made me feel so warm. Obv we don’t know what her life is like beyond what she chooses to present to us, but something about Martina’s presence in this video just gives the vibe that she’s doing really well and is in a good place in her life. It almost made me feel a bit emosh while watching!
I watched Just Friends when I was a kid! It was so cute. I never hear anyone mention that movie. And thanks for filming this twice 💛 Have a happy Christmas Martina!
I live in FL and I still drink hot coffee in 90-100 degree weather, so yes, those favors and hot drinks make me think of Christmas! I lived off royal milk tea out of vending machines to get over jet lag when I visited Japan. It saved my life.
Loved this Martina! As someone who is hypermobile with wonky wrists, my first thought when you were pouring was "oh don't let her EDS kick in right now!" :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
living in Florida i do associate all those things with the holidays (ginger, clove, nutmeg, egg nog) not sure if it's because i think it really is christmasy or if that's just what the world and marketing people want lol. happy holidays and a happy new year!
I LOVE THAT MUG!!! THAT IS THE CUTEST THING 😍 I want to replicate your entire kitchen it seems like such a cozy modern happy space. Loved this video from start to end you create amazing videos!
I am not in a place that is cold but yes, these kind of flavours do remind me of christmas time~ we're like "what? is it not scorching hot anymore? I have to wear a hoodie over my tanktop? I SHALL MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE WITH CINAMON!"
Yep, these are the smells and tastes of Christmas - we just sweat ourselves to death having climate inappropriate food because tradition. That said, we also do consume sensible stuff like chilled fresh mango (so so good) and lots of gelato etc etc. We do have royal milk tea here but it's generally over ice from a bubble tea place.
i live in cali and even though its only 50-60F here on a cold day, i still obsess over christmas scents and favors, they definitely remind me of the holidays.
Despite only trying it less than a handful of times, I enjoyed trying milk tea when I lived in Berkeley almost five years ago. I prefer nothing on top, 30 percent sweet, and if I'm feeling indulgent, I would get boba in the bottom. Thanks for posting, Martina. Happy Christmas and hope you enjoy your strawberry cream cake, a Japanese Christmas tradition I learned about from you. P.S. Chai is great, regardless of what it is used in. Chai lattes are my go-to order at coffee places for a reason: they are delightful.
This looks so good!! I do something similar when I make golden milk in the Autumn and Winter (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorn, honey and soymilk). So I'll definitely give this a try
This is absolutely not a “Shit on Simon” post, but after watching this, and her newest video about pizza bread, you can really see just how much of the “EatYourKimchi” vibe was actually just Martina. It breaks my heart to say this, but quite literally everything I love about EYK was simply just Martina and her infectious positivity! It’s not my intention to leave Simon bereft of credit believe in my heart that he absolutely contributed to EYK. But these King Kogi videos are kind of showing me that everything that I, personally, enjoyed about EYK was simply me just vibing with Martina!
Yay Martina, you did it!!! Vid up before Christmas win 😁 Milk tea! Yum! Love your munchies vids and so happy to get a morning version, great way to start the day 😘 Merry Christmas beautiful🎄
Red Rose tea reminds me of my late mother in law, who was an east coast Canadian and a die hard fan. She gave me a little Moai figurine that came in the box the first time I met her. 😻
Wow, I am totally going to do this!! I can only imagine how delicious FRESH homemade milk tea would be. But, ooh, next level though? Someone once bought me a bulk bag of dried tapioca pearls and let me tell you: homemade milk tea and throw some of your own tapioca pearls in there? Never leaving the house again!
And same as the tea, when you make your own tapioca, you can modify the sugar, which is helpful for me when I don't usually want crazy sweetness and want a little chew in my tapioca (:
Those spices are still Christmas to me what with pudding and hot chocolate HOWEVER Cherries, stone fruit, mango's, ice cold drinks with mint, melting hot sun and an aircon that's just keeping on top of it is what my Christmas has always been. It ain't Christmas if you haven't burned your feet at least once whilst thinking "it's only a couple steps."
came back to rewatch while i had breakfast and aaah this is such a sweet video! the little snowman and snowflakes from the top down view are such beautiful little details ❤ also you look absolutely stunning in this video!!! the hair/makeup is exceptional!
Oh and Merry Christmas Martina. The past two years have been ROUGH. Here's to hope. The hope that things change in the way that we need. I am hoping for healing or the ability to cope with pain
Martina as an Australian next year can we send you the makings of a super easy ICONIC (aka super cheap and home fun) christmas cake AKA Choccy ripple cake, its the cake that parents give the kids to make as a kid's project no knives needed and all you need is a spoon. I think it would be such a fun livestream to watch you make and try it, especially if you did the boozy version.
Martina, do you know how much joy your videos bring me? I've been having a lot of health issues lately and watching your videos brings me such comfort and happiness. Thanks for sharing snippets of your life and adventures with us.
I love milk tea! I didn't know scalding the milk was important for the texture, I always felt like my tea was too watery. I will be definitely trying this recipe
Earlier this year, I commented on another platform that, despite all that happened, by Christmas Martina would be back in all her glory and right on time here she is. This video is awesome. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I'm in SoCal so it doesn't get nearly as cold, but I definitely associate cinnamon and nutmeg and all those flavors with Christmas time 🥰 Primarily though, I associate it with Fall/Winter, but also Christmas.
I love Notoro! As an Aussie I love saving all the warm wintery recipes for June and associate chocolate ripple cake, mixed salads, barbecues and pavlova with Christmas, also water fights when it’s not a drought
hi from southern california! to answer your holiday smells question, yes cinnamon, chai, hot drinks etc., still remind me of the holidays. i know it doesn’t get cold here by most people’s standards, but for a californian who is used to minimum 70F+ all the time, when winter comes along (50-60 F average) we NEED the comfort of hot beverages. So while it’s not super cold, we’re babies who cant handle even the slightest change lol
In New Zealand, my xmas flavours are still spice, like fruit mince pies and gingerbread, but more so it's strawberries and cherries, cream, pavlova, ham, sparkling wine, BBQ, corn... Xmas is usually a beautiful summer day. Have a great one Martina 💕💕
Martina, I've been watching you since I was 12 years old and I still watch you to this day at 19. I love your energy and passion you have for making videos and building your ladder! It's such a beautiful and amazing thought process that makes so much sense too! It really helped me as well, even with the small things. Your editing style and personality mix so well together! I absolutely love it! You're still my favorite UA-camr and I cannot wait to see what else you have to share and create! Thank you for everything, love you and take care! 💖 #buildaladder
I haven't been able to keep up with you for a few years, but I do want to say I'm happy to find you again - and you look so happy and healthy. Your smile in this video is so bright. It makes me happy to watch you do your thing and seeing you enjoy it! :)
For me in Australia it's fresh cherries that make me think of Christmas the most, but so much of our Christmas lore is Northern hemisphere so the spice smells still feel like Christmas
I've been binge watching your videos Martina! I must say it's been a while since I've set down and truly digested your wonderful content. I've missed you and I'm glad you're out there doing what you love the most.
I can't put my finger on why but I get this vibe of a leveled-up Martina in this video. Same person, same fun style we love - but somehow refreshed and even more rad than ever. Keep living your best life, Martina! Merry Christmas!

I think it's more an easter tradition, but my mom used to get that wax egg decorating stuff, where you melt the wax onto the egg shell and dye it in different patterns and layers. We always had Christmas egg shells. I think the only time I didn't really do Christmas was when I lived in South Korea.
Right? I love visiting Joshua Tree in the wintertime because it's not boiling hot and you still get to see all the neat cacti.
Oh martina 😂💜 It might not snow everywhere in California but it still does get cold! Warm smells like cinnamon, nutmeg, etc instantly bring me to christmastime 🥰🎄🙌
Taking notes haha
@@KingKogi It's absolutely pouring rain right now in northern LA 🥺💕
You’re almost at 100K! I’m so glad you have this channel and I love the munchies series
That frog timer is so cute!!
as an avid bubble tea drinker, i never knew royal milk tea was different to the other kinds by the way it’s prepared! wow! 😍
Loved this Martina! As someone who is hypermobile with wonky wrists, my first thought when you were pouring was "oh don't let her EDS kick in right now!" :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Oh my gosh, I know. I had to brace myself using my abs and get ready to put it down in case of a wrist give up moment 😂
Texan here, and those spices do still make me think of Christmas time, even if it only rarely gets cold here.
living in Florida i do associate all those things with the holidays (ginger, clove, nutmeg, egg nog) not sure if it's because i think it really is christmasy or if that's just what the world and marketing people want lol. happy holidays and a happy new year!
So that so so interesting, it seems many people with warm climate STILL associate with that smell, it is good marketing indeed haha
@@KingKogi it's still the holidays i suppose and just because santa comes on water skies instead of a sleigh it shouldn't change that lol
As a Californian I can confirm we also love cinnamon and nutmeg smells, I also really love pumpkin spice candles during the winter season
I live in south Texas and it's hot down here, but we still enjoy our winter time drinks 🥰 helps us feel like we are in the holiday season
This looks so good!! I do something similar when I make golden milk in the Autumn and Winter (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorn, honey and soymilk). So I'll definitely give this a try
Golden milk sounds amazing! Adding it to my list of teas to try.
Vid up before Christmas win 😁
Milk tea! Yum! Love your munchies vids and so happy to get a morning version, great way to start the day 😘
Merry Christmas beautiful🎄
Thank you for this christma spresent Martina! you look very happy and glowing, so happy to see you doing well :)
Wow that's so interesting! That is SUCH a summertime vibe for me!
That's so cool!
came back to rewatch while i had breakfast and aaah this is such a sweet video! the little snowman and snowflakes from the top down view are such beautiful little details ❤ also you look absolutely stunning in this video!!! the hair/makeup is exceptional!
MARTINA!!!!!! Oh thank God I just ate a very late pre-Christmas eve dinner or I would ... wait, tea!!!! Ah, I can make room for tea, ALWAYS!!!
Keep keeping it cool in the King Kogi Kingdom! I loved that!
My sister is coming over tomorrow to do some Christmas Eve baking and I'm definitely going to try to make this with her. Thank you! 😁💕
I don't enjoy these episodes as much as others, but what I do enjoy is Martina. I look forward to this so much,
Oh and Merry Christmas Martina.
100% agreed!! That's such a great idea!
Martina, do you know how much joy your videos bring me? I've been having a lot of health issues lately and watching your videos brings me such comfort and happiness. Thanks for sharing snippets of your life and adventures with us.
as a huge bubble tea drinker... this is gonna be dangerous 🤣
You know what to do Willam. Make the bubbles. Make the tea. Open "The WC Bubble Tea Shop"
I love milk tea! I didn't know scalding the milk was important for the texture, I always felt like my tea was too watery. I will be definitely trying this recipe
Oh I’m so happy to have a Martina’s munchies again!!
I love the sparkly chopsticks
I live in florida and its chilly and cinnamon in baked goods always makes me happy.
Why is youtube recommending me this in the middle of May?! Now I miss winter lol!!! It looks SOOO delicious!!
hi from southern california! to answer your holiday smells question, yes cinnamon, chai, hot drinks etc., still remind me of the holidays. i know it doesn’t get cold here by most people’s standards, but for a californian who is used to minimum 70F+ all the time, when winter comes along (50-60 F average) we NEED the comfort of hot beverages.
Don't turn around!!!! I love that song! The tea looks awesome!
wow, that's why loose leaf tea tastes different... literally didn't know they were different ... AMAZING!!
Yes!!! For Christmas here (Texas), it will be in the 80s 🤣. But all those lovely smells make it feel more like Christmas 🎅
Wishing you and fellow viewers love & warmth with a side of hot tea. Happy holidays!
For me in Australia it's fresh cherries that make me think of Christmas the most, but so much of our Christmas lore is Northern hemisphere so the spice smells still feel like Christmas
Never clicked so fast! Thank you for the recipe and the adorbs!
I've been binge watching your videos Martina! I must say it's been a while since I've set down and truly digested your wonderful content. I've missed you and I'm glad you're out there doing what you love the most.
As a Maritimer, I got super excited seeing Red Rose tea pop up
That was an inside message JUST for the Maritimers watching 😉 🌹☕️
I went home to Nova Scotia this summer, when I got back to the west coast I immediately bought a box of Red Rose tea to remind me of home
