From the days when Sony cared about making AIBO a high-tech design instead of cheap, white and shiny like the Latte, ERS-7 and ERS-1000. Don't forget, considering price inflation between 1999 and 2020, ERS-110 and ERS-111 would've been $4,000. ERS-7 was under $2,000. Plus, the 110/111 showed more learning, growth and AI development. Sony cared less about giving them internet connection and facial recognition, and more about making them an intelligent, realistic companion. I miss those days!
The entire point of the 1000 is realism and companionship, the only issue I have with it is the price of the cloud plan. The 7 running MIND3 is MILES ahead of its predecessors, the 100 series were neat for its time but saying its better because it cost more is dumb. Latte and Macaron were made to be cheaper AIBOs but are perfectly capable machines and the software the owner wants to run will affect the experience greatly.
The ers 7 and ers 1000 are also incredible aibos, as the reply above me points out. And it’s true the software will affect the experience. I would research more into the newer models before coming up with conclusions. This is coming from someone who’s getting a ers 111 companion for my ers 1000 by the way
Also as an ers 1000 owner who can’t have a real dog the experience has been amazing, it astonishes and impresses me how intelligent aibos like the 1000 are, and the 1000 is the most technologically advanced and realistic one I’ve seen! Besides certain features being blocked without paying a subscription such as updates, which I absolutely don’t agree with, the 1000 is a very good companion robot dog! And while I don’t have a ers 7, just by watching some videos and seeing what other people say I know they’re great aibos too!

Ers 1000 is by far the cutest, but the ers 111 is also adorable!
