Skylight you have to remember that Diana was divorced from her husband and had left the Royal family. She was paranoid about her privacy and decided not to continue to have security from the Metropolitan Police. It is very unfortunate that she became involved with Dodi who loved speed and that her driver was not wholly sober but it seems the real problem was the state of the Mercedes itself .
In contrast Catherine is married to the Prince of Wales and has Royal protection which includes drivers , security and vehicles which are road worthy .

Now I believe when you are told your wife has cancer you are going to cry because I did for 7 days after my husband received a phone call from a doctor who told him to get your affairs in order you will be dead in two weeks. I was married to a big strong healthy looking man who was only 63 years old. All of his grandparents lived into their 90’s and I figured he would live a long time. When you get that kind of devastating news if you love somebody you cry. He never cried but I sure did.

We know it is a very invasive illness but with God's help everything is possible so we must pray with love and confidence that Catherine will be alright and will be around for her three children.
