Chloe is shaping up to be an intrepid explorer. Good on you guys! you are teaching your kids all about their country. Love to you all, Ian from Tewantin QLD
@@WildTouring Even swimming pools can be doubtful. In my time there, a newspaper reported a small croc had ended up in a small fish pond in the yard of a Darwin house. Rule #1: look before you jump in
Glad you all are ok!! So funny I live in the UK and when I heard Lichfield I thought of the Lichfield in the UK 🇬🇧. Lichfield is only 40Km away from me but is nothing like that beautiful spot you went to.
This is the 2nd week in a row I've had some pretty major culture shock from your videos. It's what keeps me coming back. I say this as I'm about to head out for a week in Grizzly territory, so I guess there are lot's of similarities too. Glad you're all safe!
I really love your editing and photography, from the drone or hand held. Also must be time to buy a lottery ticket. My wife loves Tiff's chair too. Thank you for your great eps.
Fantastic episode, there is a really nice, unfortunately not kid friendly, walk around the back of Wangi falls with a really cool couple of lookouts. Never saw a croc there but it is very croccy
Loved the vid guys...brought back memories of 20yrs ago Except for all the tarmac, cement and stone paved paths around. Wangi Falls was the only place open for tourists then....so much has changed!
We hid away at Daly River during the school holidays, then went to Litchfield after. The crowds weren’t too bad by then. Cascades were still closed. Reynolds Rd and Surprise Creek had just opened. The river crossings to Surprise Creek Waterfall were about half a metre, it was awesome. Shame you missed it.
Hi guys, Love to watch your vid’s. ❤ Our little one just turned over 25 and by all means not small anymore… having been there most of the spots where you went in around 2005 when he was little in an 79 troopy and tent…. Brings back our memories. … ok not all because we do no filming.. but what we call in German “Kopf Kino” bad translation would be head cinema! Have memorized all the nice trips and spots for over 30 years traveling in Asia and OZ & NZ. Your videos, music, and comments are excellent good quality. Your release Timing also perfect fit for me. Having taken many small tips from you and other Traveller over the time. We hope to be on the road to start our journey around Australia beginning 2024 . The weather will guide us… and of course not starting in school holidays… Wish you save trips all time and allot fun Cheers
Wow Litchfield has changed a lot since I was there in 1987. There wasn’t and bitumen or Carpark at Florence Falls. We camped there are had it mostly to ourselves, except for another couple.
Takes me back to when I was there with my family in 2014. I still remember the feeling swimming over to the little pool like Chloe & yourself thinking geez it’s dark under there & omg I hope there are no crocs! Beautiful spot though & glad you both are ok. Enjoying watching your channel 😊
Guys just watching you go in was getting me nervous. Especially as you where on your own. But as they say nothing ventured nothing gained. Glad to here little one was ok. Yes love a curry.
We were told that part of the reason areas of Kakadu and Litchfield were closed after the wet to give the parks and wildlife staff to get out and count the known crocs and make sure the swimming areas are safe. Not necessarily because driving tracks are hard to pass or impossible.
Yes have heard the same as well 🙂 Wangi falls had only just opened before we visited and I believe that is due to the ranger undertaking croc surveillance in the area.
At the end of the day mate we all know the dangers we’re facing when at the top of oz. Some people are more complacent than others🤷🏼♂️and unfortunately it’s usually those ones who come off second best🤔 It’s no different to swimming in the ocean where’s there’s sharks🤷🏼♂️ OMG Tiff🤦🏻♂️ the flavour is the spice🤣🤣haha the spicier the food 🔥the more flavoursome 😜😜
I had been swimming at Bitter Springs a few days before the croc was discovered there. I had gone down early to swim with the turtles and only a couple of us there. Bit scary to think there was croc but I would still swim in the designated areas like Wangi Falls and Bitter Springs.
Loving it guys. We were able to do the Reynolds Track through to the old homestead but was closed beyond that as they were killing of feral pigs. Was a fun track with some cool water crossings, one of our favorite water holes, and the homestead was awesome. Put it on your list for next time. Oh, and Tiff, how epic are those Pauls Iced Coffees :) . Oh and the Lost City was also my wife's kind of 4wd track. We absolutely loved the wildlife park near Berri Springs. The whole park was really busy but Buley and Berri Springs were insanely busy when we were there, sounded like battle of the bands with all the ghetto blasters going and the water was like human soup. Still awesome, just be better with less people :)
I’m with Tiff … you just ruined perfectly good shanks. The tomato and red wine way is the only way. 😀 Just a quick request … is it possible to put a date stamp on at the start or even say the date as it’s always good to know what time of the year it is to guard the weather etc. Cheers.
Wangi falls is a scary spot when you realise what lives in there during the wet season. While we were up there they found a big dead saltie there that had been killed by an even bigger one. I remember Buley well, it was the first place I managed to go out and visit after days stuck in the bus recovering from a hernia operation. Ah fun times LOL Oh and if you want to sound more like a local, Wangi is actually pronounced Wongai.
We were there the same time as you and swam at Wangi Falls the day before the attack. The 4wd track opened the day of the attack and we managed to go in. Stayed 3 nights at the old 4wd campsite at Florence Falls. Would definitely go back .
Should have gone down to the old 4wd camp used the the day area and walked along the creek to the foot bridge to Florence Falls easiest way. As for crocs I always check the pool before getting in good moto if its wet most likely a croc there. Ps hope Brodies wrist is ok, Chloe's growing up so fast and living the best life thanks to you both ❤
Since the cessation of Croc culling the numbers, size and their no longer concerned by people presence has grown tremendously. As male crocs are very territorial (must keep their females away from others) the ''smaller'' crocs are forced to travel a lot further than they once did or be killed by the bigger crocs who owns that territory, this means that they are likely to turn up in places that were once considered safe, especially just after the wet season. For me I take the opinion that when in Top End of Australia every water hole could have a croc, as they are only considered "safe'' once Parks and Wildlife remove a croc someone spotted previously or if none have been spotted in a certain time period. Glad your family had no incidents and are safe.
Crocodiles have survived millions of years. They are awesome. Alot of people are naive to think salt water crocs dont go in fresh water pools. Ur right they are always looking for new watering holes to establish their territory. Just read they are known to travel 1km on land in search of watering holes, no wonder they have survived for years. Awesome animals.
Look at all the tasty morsels cooling off in the water from 5:29 onwards. Thank goodness everyone that day was ok. At 1:52 I saw your monitor on your dash for a back of van camera set up? What do you have?
Every spot looks so beautiful 😊 Wow a bit of a scary thought to find out what you were sharing the water with. What were Chloe’s thoughts when she found out? Has it put her off swimming in waterholes? She is so good on camera, budding UA-camr 😊.
Hey guys we love the currys as well but the wife is like tiff [don't like the heat] the best curry paste i have found is the glass jar ones from aldi all the flavour & minimal heat enjoy
I often wonder what Malcolm Douglas or Leyland Bro’s or any other early real explorer would think of this mass over crowding of water holes, to me it’s only a matter of time before to many people will destroy these national treasures 😢

gonna have to ditch that stroller for a back pack for your little one. standing room only at the waterhole!

She’s loves travelling, such a little adventurer ☺️
When I was working on a project based in Jabiru, we were told the safe place to swim was in your bathtub.
After we got to Darwin we got chatting to a ranger who said they would never swim in any NT waterways, except for swimming pools 😳

Where are the crocs getting access to the pools? Rivers leading into them?
Crocodiles have been known to travel on land up to 1km to get to new waterholes.
All rivers lead to the sea and when they get connected by flood plains anything is possible for a salty.
How long till the 300?
Should be getting close.
Still a few months off, can’t wait!
