Good stuff man. But one thing you didn't mentioned was the fee to transport the vehicle back to you or the simple cost it would cost someone to get it to and from auction.
Question, do licensed buyers, like business licensed, pay less, or are the transaction fees the same? Like a 1k purchase you get charged like around $300 per say, do dealers pay the same fee?
Last time I checked Licensed buyers pay the same Copart fees as a broker as long as the payment method is the same however you have to pay the broker fees as well if you use a broker
@@ModifiedCrew ok, thank you. I've been trying to purchase through a friend but haven't had luck, and just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting an extra fee by him. Keep up the awesome content.
General question re Sales Tax on a Copart Salvage Car... I know from previous experience buying from other local dealers (who also buy from Coparts) the local place does NOT charge me a State Sales Tax... I just incur that when I go convert that Salvage Title in A Rebuilt/Reconstructed Title... So bottom line, if I were to buy a salvage car through Copart either on my own (if poss) or if by going through a broker, I will also incur the Sales Tax on Copart Salvage Car??? And then another Local State Sales Tax at the end upon trying to get the Rebuilt Title (i.e. Double Dip on Taxes???)
Great informative video But if i am in Dubai/UAE and want to buy individual car what will be extra fee or procedures If you can also make a video for international buyers will be highly appreciated Thank you
I was just registering and copart is asking for affidavit document from me to finish my registration. Why is nobody mansions this document? What should I do?
Hey MC! Thanks for the heads up bro! Listen, I am about to get into the business of used car sales here.. So, i'm just trying to learn everything possible regarding membership at Copart. If i understood you correctly, it looks like even if you're a PREMIER member, you still have to pay all of those Copart FEES!!! Is that right sir? Like, that doesn't come with your benefit?
Nope its free and highly suggested. You can see cars that arent on the list and also know more about the car you are buying. Also if your a car guy like me its just nice to see and get in some of the high end cars. Also they will give you the keys to start and check the car out if you request them
Hi, can I bid a car that is located in other state? I’m in Virginia and here is necessary to have a license to bid but I want to get a car that is located in North Carolina and license are not required there, I just don’t want to pay for a broker. Thanks
I believe that you should be able to bid on the car unless copart has changed their policies. Keep in mind you will have to pay shipping and would not be able to personally inspect the car. I would suggest paying a broker and keeping it local so you can know what your getting.
I own an autobody business in PA but I plan on just but I just plan on buying one car on Copart, will save money by uploading business docs so I can bid without using a broker? If it's not that much I am saving I rather just use a broker since it's less hassle given it's a one-time deal???... please advise thx! Fyi, My budget is around $5k for bid... If I were to provide my business info to set up account that is eligible to bid, what docs are required (i.e. SS4 or City Business License?)
They need a few documents and are kind of a pain to work with sometimes, last I checked it was like about $200 or so for the broker so It might be easer to use a broker
Thanks for all the great info. I believe I understand all the fees now. If I plan on buying a vehicle (not thru broker) for $6k and paying secured. Then it's $6k+$750(fee)+$557(taxes)+$59(gate)+$99(bidding fee)= $7465... My only confusion is if I'm able to buy a salvage title vehicle that is for sale in Texas and I live in Florida. Would you happen to know the answer? Thanks, Evan
You can do it but you may need to use a broker if Texas has restrictions, you would need to check the state requirement page on copart to see if its needed. So you would also add the broker fees to that amount and shipping fees. Good luck
Hello! I have the same doubt. I live in Orlando FL and I want to buy a vehicle in some of the states like NC MO TX LA places that don't need a license. can I do it myself without a broker?
@@pairicopaipobrenapraticaso from my understanding, if you live in NC, and buy a car being sold from NC, you won't need a broker. HOWEVER, if you live in NC (which has no restrictions) but buy a car that is being sold in a state with restrictions, then you will still need a broker... Hope this helps
What about people outside US. I am in Nigeria but also interested but can't go past the registration stage and how do I make payment and also how is the auction charges calculated on copart if I win a car of $2k how would it be calculated to get to the total sum
I'm so mad. I signed up for Copart a couple months ago as a business member. Now low volume business members pay the same rates as consumers in table C & D. So Fees on say a 10 grand car just went from 6% to 15%. And fees on a 15K+ car went from 4% to 15%. It is now literally cheaper to use a broker than it is to go direct, unless you buy at least 12 cars a year, then you get the volume fees. This is so scummy of them to do! It makes it so without a broker there is no way I'm going to be able to compete with a high volume business buyer because they could have a 1-2K price advantage over me. Filth!
@@ModifiedCrew I just sent them an email complaining and asking them if they would consider giving me business volume fee rates. I just can't believe that they feel it was reasonable to 2-4x fees for low volume business buyers, and to do so not gradually without warning. I can only think of that COVID decreased their volume, and therefore their earnings and this is the way they decided to attempt to boost profits is to screw over small business buyers. Less people are driving for work and travel, so there are less accidents and less cars at copart. My local yard has been doing auctions every other Friday instead of every Friday because of this.
@@ModifiedCrew I’m just making sure because you didn’t mention/add the broker $400 security deposit into your fee examples of the hypothetical $1000 car purchase (at the 9:30 mark)
The state you are buying in has its own policies on if you need a broker or not. For example im in California and would need a broker to buy in California

The fees do suck, but considering the price you get the car for it;s still a great deal. Also, everybody else factors the fees into their bids, so it drives the price down.👍
How many of you noticed I said Affidavit wrong? If I missed anything or tips/tricks feel free to list them in the comments below. Thanks
I didn't know until some one told me
Does this work the same if skip the bidding and just “buy it now” process with the fees ?
Yoooo so i have a CA license but want to buy and register in Montana. Do I need a broker?
@belenladd5923 I'm not sure as Copart's policies are constantly changing, I would call their customer service to confirm
Great Video Man , Thanks . Helped A lot 💯
Glad to hear it!
Awsome tips: Thank you bro!
Question: Copart shows car under Certificate of Title without Salvage at the end, it is considered as clean title ?
If I understand your question correctly yes it should be a clean title but you should contact copart directly just to confirm
Good stuff man. But one thing you didn't mentioned was the fee to transport the vehicle back to you or the simple cost it would cost someone to get it to and from auction.
I normally pick up my own vehicles but also when this video was made Copart didn't have the shipping/estimate option

No fees for bidding, only the fee to start an account with copart and the fees for the winning bid

With license you wouldn't need a broker (autobidmaster) you would just pay the copart fees.

I am from Iraq and wanna register as business in copart to buy cars and ship them to Iraq ...WHAT CAN I DO ?
The best way to do this is speak with Coparts customer service department and they will walk you through what needs to be done
is it free to create account without choosing any membership?
Not anymore
No not anymore.
can you buy in Nevada without a broker ?
Im not sure about Nevada laws you can call copart and they can let you know

So what happend to the.deposit ,after buying ??
Stays in your account, you have to go pay for your lot after you win, you can request your deposit back if you want
Can i buy like 300 cars with individual account?
I believe you would need a dealer license.
You have to pay to become a member right ?
You have to pay to use a broker but I don't remember ever paying copart to be a member
It says you have to pay now. Which sucks. I cant find where it says free membership
ets say im bidding on a 20K car so i put $2k deposit but i end up not getting it. is it refundable?
I would hope so, Unless somebody at copart wants to stop some bullets!!

You only pay the deposit if you win the car, i'm not sure if you try canceling your bid after winning
