    thank you for this video!
    I love the way you were talking about the history, telling about their way of seeing this topic. that's always a great idea to learn from the ancient masters.

    Learn the "5 eyed line" (head-width system) instead. All it's landmarks fall on bony points, and unlike the 8-head crap, it works with a figure in any pose. It also makes it easy to construct a figure from imagination in any pose. There's another vid on this channel that explains it but I don't have time to look it up and add a link right now. Check it out. Definitely a more versatile and accurate system.

      The video kind of stated that the 8-head isn't the only way to measure proportions though.

    I use my Faber Castell Stream Compass, to measure and transfer proportions. Actually it can do what a Proportional divider can, probably be mora accurate too, plus the advantage you can use the graphite tip on the one end, to add a mark point, which is the biggest advantage compared to a dedicated proportional divider. The disadvantage, is that you have to do some math, if you want to upscale or downscale an object, because common compasses, do not have that function, that the proportional dividers come with.
    I also have to mention, that the Stream from Faber Castell, even though it's supposedly, a compass for school kids, when you get it in your hands, you drop your mouth open, because you realize, it's way more capable, accurate and solidly build, than almost any other compass I ever had! That thing is a monster, very accurate (heavy and stable) and super easy to use! You don't have to roll the disc, to open or close the legs, you just push or pull them apart. I only use the disc, when I want accuracy on a measurement..

    So if you draw the head an inch… there should be 7 more inches under it?

    • @DrawingArtAcademy
      @DrawingArtAcademy  Рік тому +1

      you can measure in inches if you want. If you do 1/7 head/body proportion that add 6 inches under the head

    I got it at first but drawing it multiple times it makes no sense to me where the end of the neck is supposed to go, or where the pelvis starts and ends. Ill find something else because you skip through this too much.
