Thank you for the tutorial - so helpful as my teenager was making a purse for the first time today but was stumped as to how to add the material to the frame. We followed your tutorial and the purse turned out brilliant which really made my teen's day :-)
Thank you for this tutorial! I'm hoping to make a purse for a costume soon, and installing the clasp was what I worried about the most. You explained it really well and I feel a lot better about trying it now.
Thank you! I have a coin purse that is falling apart but the frame is in good shape, and I’m wondering if I can just replace the fabric.I guess I’ll see if I can rip out the fabric!
Ive tried it before - it just depends on the purse. If you rip it out, try and make sure the channel of the clasp is clear of most of the old fabric. Good luck!
I'm searching for help to replace the kiss lock on my leather wallet I just bought from eBay. Gorgeous detailed wallet! I am still hoping that I got a bargain though...depending on if this is a replacement I can do myself? Can you give any tips on how to remove one from leather that may or not be glued in? And if there is anything different you might suggest for piping around the inside middle of the new clasp?
I've been making little embroidered coin poses for a while now and have always used the sew-in clasps...primarily because I can NEVER find these kind!If you don't mind sharing such info...where have you found them? I'm looking for simple small silver kiss locks...
Hi Jennifer, We sell the clasps on our website - for simple silver designs two great square ones are the "Classic Coin Purse Clasp" and the "Vintage Wallet Clasp" Here's a link to the hardware page: www.zakkaworkshop.com/hardware/
That stinks when a favorite item breaks! We don't do repairs, I wonder who might do that... wonder if a shoe repair place would? They use glue and fabric and hardware? Just a thought!
Yes, twine (or paper string) is needed to install. All the purse clasps we offer on our website (www.zakkaworkshop.com/hardware) come with string. I just saw some pictures on the website don't show it but guaranteed string is included.
This person shouldn't be trying to teach anyone how to do this. ..... Tacky glue on fabric and metal??????? ..... Bad enough, but then only a tiny bit of glue????
Hi, the twine is used to reinforce and secure the fabric purse edges in the metal frame. Think no wiggle room between the fabric and metal so the fit is tight and snug :)

Love this video! Now I might actually make my purse, I ordered the kits from your website but have been reluctant to 'ruin' them!
THANKS!
Hey! Wanted to check in and see if you tried a coin purse yet - we'd love to see what you made!
Excellent tutorial thanks !
Could I please have instructions to make the actual fabric pouch?
Looks really good. Going to try and make some.

Thank you.
Where can I get the circle part of the clasp, my wallet is missing one
How can I get in touch with you ,I like it very much
how secure is this method compare to sewing the clasp? Does it ever come apart once you carry coins?
Its really secure. I made one last year, that I use as my change purse and keep it in my handbag - its holding up just fine : )
Sew-in clasps is always more secure.
Could I use E6000 instead?
I use E6000 all the time-have a wallet I made 3 years ago and it is sturdy as can be.
I have a really cute change purse that I want repaired. Can you do it?

Hello, I might buy a kit but than which kind of glue do I have to buy please? thank you.
I use Aleene's Original Tacky Glue - cheap and available at Joann's and other craft stores.
Thank you for your kind answer, I've ordered it.
Great!
where do you get this clasp from ?
Hi, they are sold at smaller sewing and craft shops in the US and also on the Zakka Workshop Website: www.zakkaworkshop.com/hardware
How do I order a coin purse kit? I do not see your website address anywhere in your description.
Hi, Thanks for checking in on this. You can order them on our website: www.zakkaworkshop.com/kits/

Looks easy, not so easy. Very messy, fabric kept popping out. Frustrating! OY!
This is a bit nuts.. doesn’t seem like a legit way to make a coin purse with a clasp… I’m out lol

Nice video.. but it's annoying to hear the American accent...but u can't help it right...peace.
Tinkling Crystals Rude!
But where can I get the clasp from? Nowhere available? Please inform.
What is the twine for?
