in the UK 80s this game was LIT this literally was the most popular Arcade Game along with Golden Axe you had to wait a long time to have your tune to play always a big que on this game.
Awesome! I played Golden Axe in the arcade a ton but Bad Dudes was something I discovered on the NES and loved it. The framerate is bad... ...hits don't land the way they should and bosses are exploitable jokes but I dig it still. I found an arcade version and it trumps the NES one in every way. It kinda made me sad how awesome it was. Returning to the NES port was never the same.
Man, this game was top shit at the arcade. So much so that the NES version came as a disappointment to most of us. But aside from a few moves, everything from the arcade was there.
Up to this day I can still only make it to the boss of the train stage with one coin. Same as you, I can’t get a full working strategy against him. Strangely, the version I played the most, which I assume was a bootleg, was simply called “Dragonninja” and when you beat a stage the heroes only screamed “ohhh” instead of the “I’m bad”. And I can’t find the rom of that version. I rented the news version once, and that was a big dissapointment. Starting with the choppy animation it went downhill from there. Stages were ugly and it just wasn’t fun at all. Reminded me a bit of the robocop game. The stage 2 song was the only positive thing of that version. There were arguably many better games at the time, some by data east themselves, some maybe kind of sequels like two crude dudes, other like Thunder Fox etc, but Dragonninja was special for me probably because I friggin’ loved ninjas like many kids did in the 80’s. Im such a big fan, that when I did a Kunio-Kun Fangame demo around 2008 (Valdivia city ransom), I made a truck stage, included my own versions of the ninjas, and used that great song.
"Ohhh" really??? That's crazy! I'd love to find that version! Yeah, Bad Dudes isn't great but I have a thing for Data East and of course we all loved ninja games!
They should make Bad Dudes movie starring Scott Adkins with him playing the bad Dudes

I just realized that the 1st part of the song “greased lightning“ is a “bloody tears” sound-a-like.
Neskimos does the song some justice as well
Nice video......I use nunchucks in the whole game 😉
I use a combination of frustration and button-mashing willpower.

one of the first games if not the first game i ever beat
I like your content man
Thanks!
Part of that truck stage theme sounds almost exactly like Bloody Tears from Castlevania.
Why is there water between the containers? 🥲
