You need not apologize for shedding tears, my friend. Lots of folks had the exact same reaction you did. I have seen this trailer five times and each time I start tearing up. It is a powerful preview for what I believe will be a powerful film. After I saw the trailer I did a little digging and found out that she was in an actual battle against Confederate forces during the Civil War. This particular engagement was known as the Combahee River raid. she led a group of black soldiers who managed to not only liberate over 700 slaves, but set fire to the plantations of at least four prominent Southern families. There's a detailed account of this battle in Civil War magazine. The story blew me away. So we can add badass to the list of adjectives describing this incredible woman. Thanks for making this video.
Not just African descent. Everyone should see this!! I was so worried my family owned slaves but, thank God we didn't. However, I'm just ashamed sometimes to be white for what people of my color have done. It's absolutely disgusting.
@@mtrudo Don’t be ashamed to be white. You were created that way. All of humanity has sinned and fallen short of moral perfection. Only perfect human without bigotry, selfishness, is Yeshua H’Masiach. When we look to him, he will gradually make us more like him.
It’s about time this current generation recognize our history. These young kids... mine included, doesn’t realize how much of life many splendors they take for granted. At the same time, their is a ton of relevance in her story
They put this movie out at the perfect time because she is now the New face of the 20 dollar bill. She has been voted the top most influential and life changing woman in American history. This is why it was made in the first place to help show the decision makers how important she truly was to American history. She was a freakin Union spy for crying out loud! She didn't lose a man on her runs to freedom! only one was almost a fail...and even that wasn't on her part it was because one of the people was freaking out too much and wanted to turn back but she said no and they kept on truckin' right in the knick of time and dodged the bounty hunters! This woman was a bad mama! She deserves homage! Don't dare feel sorry for being emotional. Without people like her we wouldn't be here today. I'm not ashamed of my history. I'm just glad that this generation is getting to see and grasp hell our forefathers went through so they could be treated better. Let's move forward not backwards!
I’m glad this movie is coming out. But, I do not like Harriet being on a $20 bill. Her contributions to our history as black folk does not have a price tag.
@@Topg1 I get what you're saying. But do you have any idea how much of a huge step in the right direction that would be for blacks in America? Imagine Harriet Tubman, a hero that looks like them, on US currency. Every racist will have to come to terms with the fact that a strong black woman is the face of their money. That's a satisfaction like no other.
Great review! Love your responses. This is a reminder of what our ancestors went through for us today. I wish you could come back and free these other slaves that are walking around brainwashed. She was a hero we should celebrate her heroism instead of Christopher Columbus Day(murderer)
This movie is well over due. I think the actress for Harriet is great for the part. I like how it’s not stopping at her time on the underground. Harriet was a spy for the union soldier. She led a union regiment into battle to seize a plantation and set slaves free. It looks like the movie is going to show that.

Lol GROWn ass man crying but I ain’t black I’m white but very good movie tho
My niece and nephew can see this too learn a little piece of American history, but for myself...I'll pass.
I'm not supporting it. The lead role goes to a Nigerian British? A slap in the face to African Americans.
You don't have to marry her....it's a movie.
Her ancestors would most likely have been slaves. What’s your problem.
As from what I saw she played the role exceptional
