It's not easy, but you can get through. You can also try your local IRS tax office. I've heard it may be easier to get through to someone and they have the same information. Let me know how it goes..
we are here for one specific reason. To get hold of the IRS I have not gotten my taxes I filed in the beginning of the year I have waited 6 months for my taxesAnd of course cannot get ahold of the IRS. Let me owe them money though
They fined me for something I didn’t even do. After waiting 2 hrs my call was dropped, called again, waited 1 hr called dropped again. This oughta take about 2 years to resolve, lucky me.🥴
I have called the IRS using the 1040# as well as other numbers provided in their documents to me. I believe the best way is to call, call, call, and call again until you get the call-back feature.... which is much better than waiting forever ...IF YOU GET THAT OPTION... they usually tell me to call back due to heavy volume... it’s KINDA insane.... but you get what you vote for.... they will give you typically 30 minutes and they will call you back then put you thru the entry features of the phone system, input your ss number, etc and eventually someone will get your call. Eventually someone WILL help you.... just be patient.... and take a morning off from work.

I totally get your frustration with the IRS, it can be super challenging. A couple of quick tips: try calling them early or late in the day when they're less busy, or check out their online resources for help. If that doesn't work, consider dropping by your local IRS office. Hang in there!

Hi Frances. You can go on the irs.gov website, create an account and request your 'transcripts'. This will show if you owe the IRS anything. You can also call them. 800-829-1040.

I mailed the hard copy in mid-March to the Charlotte office but the IRS website indicates that I have not filed - my check also has not been cashed. @@georges3061 mailed tax returns are taking a very long time to get processed. If calling at 7am isn't working for you, then you can try requesting your account transcript. It may offer additional information. At least you are not waiting for a refund!
@@NoelLorenzanaCPA thx Noel - after calling 15 times (I am not joking) last Thursday , I managed to reach someone at IRS - he noted that the IRS has a problem this year with processing the returns due to manpower problems. However he could not confirm whether the IRS office in Charlotte received my paper filing. But he looked up my account and said that I should be checking the website often. Hopefully he did some magic and at least noted my call and inquiry. In any case, thank you Noel for your telephone video.
I wrecked my car and it tornado and it hydroplaned somethings wrong with the tire that I just bought and I only had liability and now I need to tax check to get another car so I can get to work. Apparently they’re in “high demand” 24/7 at any time of the day. Haven’t been able to reach them. It’s almost August and I still haven’t gotten my refund even after a finishing verification letter in June.

In that case, try calling the IRS. Calling late in the day on Thursday or Friday might be your best chance. They stay open until 7pm (pacific time). Good luck!
I owe the IRS money. Filled out my form so the irs can take a monthly amount out of my account. That was back in May. Haven’t heard from them and they haven’t been taking any money out at all. Can’t contact them to check my status or when they will start. If they don’t start taking it out for say ten months, will they take ten months at one time?
@@NoelLorenzanaCPA I couldn’t afford the lump sum. I filled out a form that has my check routing info. Along with a voided check. I agreed to a certain amount they can take out monthly. I submitted the form with my tax return.

Maybe also check with your tax preparer. You can call the IRS toll-free at 800-829-1040 if you are in the United States or 267-941-1000 (not a toll-free number) if you are outside the United States. This service allows you to check the status of your application seven weeks after submitting Form W-7 and your tax return.

Sorry to hear about your inability to get through to the IRS. Tell me more about the missing check. Is it something they sent to you and you did not receive it? There is a form 3911 that you can prepare and fax to the IRS. The form is for tracing refund payments.

That's not a surprise. The IRS is still backed up, especially with processing any mail. In the future, you should try and avoid mailing anything to the IRS. Try and efile your returns, etc.
This info regarding calling right at 7am is bogus because I did just that and it does not make a difference. You ae miss leading the people or you have been miss led. This number is filled with automated responses and nothing else. You are not up to date with any new information.

I can't find my 2021 adjusted gross income. I lost my record of the whole 1040 form. I have been charged the filing charge already and have not submitted by 2022 taxes yet. Not sure why. I wrote the sequence of #s and let me know if it has changed. I am trying it.
They should be fired and should be illegal for them to make it that hard to get ahold of them when they're responsible for our tax returns and many other things that has to do with revenue

How did you set up the payment plan with the IRS? They would not take a lump sum from you.

That's not a surprise. The IRS is still backed up, especially with processing any mail. In the future, you should try and avoid mailing anything to the IRS. Try and efile your returns, etc.

This info regarding calling right at 7am is bogus because I did just that and it does not make a difference. You ae miss leading the people or you have been miss led. This number is filled with automated responses and nothing else. You are not up to date with any new information.

I can't find my 2021 adjusted gross income. I lost my record of the whole 1040 form. I have been charged the filing charge already and have not submitted by 2022 taxes yet. Not sure why. I wrote the sequence of #s and let me know if it has changed. I am trying it.
They should be fired and should be illegal for them to make it that hard to get ahold of them when they're responsible for our tax returns and many other things that has to do with revenue
I agree with you. We are expected to pay our taxes when due, and they hold us to the strictest standards. The least they should do is answer their phones.
