Great trio; really insightful. I think NCFC management should look at your podcasts each week - they would improve the team no end. I look forward to another 40-50 pods before May. Well done,
You hit the nail on the head. I really don't think the fans would have minded if it was the youngsters playing. They need the experience need to learn etc but to play almost the same back 4 when they have been terrible for so long was a disaster. Midfield were shocking too no zip or energy. It got quite ugly amongst the fans at the end which was a shame. Credit to Thorup for taking it. I like him and hope that he can be strong and ditch the old guard. It has to be done for us to move forward
Yesterday's game could be a blessing for JHT he now has a small body work if you including preseason games to help him realise that his apparent woes will only be solved by the recruitment department because as you rightly say the current crop of players are not fit for purpose and this will take a lot of time due to contract situations.
Something similar happened last year between Leeds and Gnonto. It panned out that despite refusing to play for Leeds he didn't get a move and was reintegrated back into the team.
I am an oxford fan who went yesterday. One of the only good analysis of oxford that has been in any media recently was one by a norwich fan on youtube before the game. Oxford are not the same team that struggled for parts of last season. We didn't beat derby, bolton, peterborough (twice) by a fluke last season, we have some good players and moreover, we have signed 8-10 better ones. Yes Norwich were not great, but to be honest you were not allowed into the game. I expect oxford to do this to a few sides this season and hold their own. Maybe finish mid table, I don't agree we are relegation favourites. There is a big test with coventry friday who absolutely hammered us in the cup in january. That will be a good yardstick. Norwich have shown they are a consistent team at this level, I dont think you have to panic. It will be a much harder game at carrow road later in the season I am sure.
Oxford fan replying to another, totally agree. Yesterday’s team was almost identical to the one that completely out maneuvered Bolton in the play off final. This is now a very very well coached group of players.
Another excellent Podcast. Love the thought of Rowe (with his bags packed) asking his agent whether he's driving him to Marseille to sign ! Paddy, I remember you doing player ratings every week. What's the lowest mark you've ever given? Sam, absolutely correct, only once did Norwich try and do what's written on the tin.
Hanley, Duffy and Mclean are totally unsuitable for the style/tactics that JHT wishes , surely it's time to bite the bullet on all three. I think you are right about Doyle he looked a poor left back and possibly more suited to a central defensive role. Heaven knows re the midfield going forward, yesterdays starting three were completely out played and out fought. Some big calls need to be made by JHT lets hope he has the confidence to make them.
I think between Doyle, Hills, Cordoba & Kenny we have enough CBs. Kenny was our best CB last year & is good enough at playing out from the back, & agile enough, to play In Thorup's system. With Chrisene, Stacey & Fisher (+ Jacob in an emergency) we are covered at FB. The problem then arises in midfield. Gibbs doesn't seem to be the player I hoped. Forson looks to be nailed on (once up to speed), Nacho is capable of running the midfield but needs the right players around him, but that's it; I feel Myles has enormous potential, Forsyth also looks good, so we may have to take a gamble on our youth - plus ideally one high quality signing (or loan). Up front could be a real problem; Rowe is almost certainly gone, ^ it now seems likely that Sarge may go too. Which leaves Sainz. Who is highly talented, but can't play in 3 positions at once. So unfortunately the forward positions may be the most pressing problem to solve. Over to you Mr. Thorup ...
Think you under-played how good Oxford where. Great press, great defensive traps, great shape, quick and accurate passing on the ball, lots of pressure being put on Norwich defensively.
@@ThePinkUnChannel also as an Oxford fan, this is a well done podcast, listed to the whole video rather than just the oxford match stuff. So keep it up
I have to admit the latest midfielder we bought in the one from the Germany league he has to start. He came on in that second half and it was magnificent. He was changing the game a bit like a Sara
What would you do with Rowe ? Minimum fee ? Sell Idah and Rowe and fast forward the overhaul We were a mess yesterday - silver lining JHT understands more about his squad individually
Idah has said he wants to play for Celtic yes. That's his boyhood club who can blame him for wanting to play for them. Yet he hasn't thrown his toys out and demanded a move, he did miss a training session a few weeks ago but that's a lot more forgivable. Unless he demands an exit or Celtic meet the club's valuation I'd say keep him.
He should be fined at least a week's wages and be told to publicly apologise to his team mates and the fans. Only then, and if he is still here at the close of the transfer window, should he be allowed to train once-again with the first-team squad.
As someone who wanted continuity and Wagner to stay. I would argue instead of looking at blaming the players, the same players who put together the best home record in over 20years ,the same players that made the playoffs. Could it be they simply don't understand or believe in JHT ? He is very inexperienced the Danish league is a million miles from the championship. You seem to point the finger at the players as you did very unfairly at Wagner last season without any real justification.
We don't need a rebuilding season. We needed a very experienced manager who could rejuvenate a decent championship team into a Premier league regular. We got an inexperienced guy who seems out of his depth. Also, with Ben Napper buying the players and selecting the asst manager.
Jonny Rowe has been given some bad advice and should use his agent as the scapegoat, then take a leaf out of Max Aarons book, get his head down and show his quality on the pitch and the offers will come.
saw Norwich play versus St.Pauli last week. Thought you were a good team who Rowe stood out as exceptional. IF he leaves and the unrest continues think you will finish nearer the bottom than the top- would have tipped you for play-offs if he stays
I’ve listened to every pink’un podcast for years and years. Sam Seaman: well done, you’ve really found your voice. You’ve arrived, mate.

The warnings were there in pre-season

And if you go back a few years Wes spat his dummy out over not being allowed to join Lambert at Villa and Wessy is a club legend!! 🤔

Hanley getting pulled off, is not a pretty sight.....
Three home games to come in a row now - significant improvement needs to be seen otherwise the mood will certainly darken.

Sam is spot on R.E.'s role !!!
For me, his agent clearly saw a payday and advised him to do this, and now it has trashed his reputation.

Technically we looked awful. Atrocious first touch on so many occasions, Nunez was really disappointing in giving the ball away under pressure.
I agree guys. The old mindset has to be replaced, and new players are needed for that to happen. OTBC
I think the worst part was how quickly the players resorted to long balls.
The midfield is in dire need for more numbers on the pitch in my opinion
Rowe sacks his agent, and it all ends happily.

Yes. Oxford were excellent. Game plan worked terrifically and thoroughly deserved the win.

Connors bedroom looks like mine when i was 9. except it doesn't have a Iwan Roberts poster....
It's quite simple with Rowe. It reduces the value and it bumps up his wages and increases the liklihood of transfer.
Six or seven International players in our squad! Forget it's like watching Brazil it's more like watching Scotland
The thing is you need players to spark. If Farke didn't get Pukki and Buendia then the story would have been completely different.
Wow with that list of young Norwich debutants it bodes well for Gabe's future eh?! 😅
It’s odd how Paddy and Conner keep talking up Gibbs. He has shown no evidence of being a quality championship player.
Gibbs and Fassnatch are average and need togo
It’s a case of who wants the dead wood and of course can we afford to replace them?
Hanley is not a vocal captain either. We need a leader
He should be fined at least a week's wages and be told to publicly apologise to his team mates and the fans. Only then, and if he is still here at the close of the transfer window, should he be allowed to train once-again with the first-team squad.
Jonny Rowe, let's have a go!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In a perfect world, it would have been Hanley who decided to remove himself from selection and not Rowe. Oh well...
Send Hanley off to Swindon !

Kamara should have started not Fassnatch. Thorup needs to be brave and play new signings and youngsters
Bring back David Wagner 😂😂

😂, you don’t have a clue
That’s a viewpoint that nobody wants to touch but 10 years ago would have been the common perception. Could well be accurate.
I hope that’s a joke.
And I have a suspicion that Napper selected some of that team yesterday. Wait till that comes out !
@@NCFCFINLAY17 you don't have an argument.

Poor just poor.
