Nice one Audry. Love that bike. Waiting for my new Ogre comming end of May. I order a compleet bike and give it a go. Just change the steer and will see what is needed to change during the years.
I saw this bike on yt & he went to San Francisco to Nicaragua on this bad boy & yea , I think it’s worth the money 💵 to spend , great build , subscribed
Looks great. I love the new blue. Ive got a two year old red Ogre. Its such a rugged bike and seems to ride better when it's loaded. It came with 2.5 inch tyres but I have replaced them with 2.2. I'm in Australia and hope to ride around The Netherlands when travel improves. Videos like yours and Fernwee have inspired me to head over when it's possible. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks. It's always nice to hear that i inspire people with my video's. The best bandwidth depends on the surface you are cycling on. In the Netherlands the road surface is never very bad. In 2001/2002 I cycled through Australia for 7 months. I wish i had my surly ogre back then 😁.
Wow! Very impressive... maybe I could do that when somebody would instruct me... but I'd never dare to ride on that bike afterwards... you're amazingly skilled!
Great bike and great assembly job! Liked and subscribed. I really like Surly bikes and must decide between the Ogre, Troll, and Long Haul Trucker. Cheers!
Hey Audrey - I always really enjoy your beautifully produced films and I totally admire your courage with the Surley. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures and for giving me so much inspiration 🙌🤩 Stay safe and keep filming - you are a star 🌟🤩🤩😁👍‼️
It took me two months to get all the parts together because of some parts where no longer in stock at that time. The build didn't take much time. Just a few hours. I had never built a whole bike before, but I have always done the maintenance myself. I also replaced parts, so I actually knew how a bicycle works.
Nice video. I've got a SLHT in the same colour, which I built myself, and I love it. Also recently bought a Surly ECR 29+. There's something special about these bikes. Yours looks brilliant built up. Have fun with it. JP the old guy
Hi nice build love the hill climbing gears ⚙ 👌, I have a build on my long haul trucker the channel is my surly trucker it's a black slh that I have electrified , I look forward to more videos tho I am not to good at putting them up myself, o and I subscribed.
Aha, a Surly fan! I get a lot of attention with my Surly because the brand is not verry common in the Netherlands. Thanks for subscribing and the command.
Beautiful bike! I’m planning on using the same ergotec handlebars, 23° back sweep right? How do they perform? I’m also building a bike for a long distance travel. It would be nice to hear your voice in this kind of video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. The handlebar i use is the Ergotec Moon Bugle. 23"backswing. I like the handlebars because your wrists are more in a straight line. The inner barends are also a solution for my tingling hands. I now have many positions to place my hands.
Great video, thank you for sharing. I am looking into an ogre and wondered about the frame size. I'm 6ft and was going to go for a large. How tall are you please. Thanks and happy adventures😀
I'm also 6 feet. I have de XL frame. I have pretty long legs and arms. My innerleg is 2,9 feet. The distance saddle to handlebars is quite large at the Ogre. My advice is to compare the dimensions of the geometry with your own bicycle.
Hello Audrey, very nice bike you built. I see you chose size XL. May I ask how tall you are? I am 1.91m and think that the bike will be too small for me or that I will have to mount the handlebars much higher.
I'm 1,85 m and my inside leg length is 91cm. I put a short stem on the bike because the top tube is quite long. I think you can check the sizing charge at the Surly website.
@@audreytracks Due to the Rohloff or Pinion gear systems being enclosed in a casing it means less problems with dirt, and due to chain not shifting gears so cleaner and easier to mantain in my experience. However, I do like your cycling vidoes and admire your adventure and courage as a woman to cycle alone on such long cycling adventures' I live in London and have cycled round The Netherlands which I very much enjoyed , except for the strong headwind on the odd day. My favourate destination for cycling adventures being France . Easy access from SE England , wonderful designated cycling routes , great variety of spectactular scenery and delicious food !! What more can a touring cyclist want ?!
What tools do i bring on tour? Bicycle pump, spare inner tube, tire repair kit, various wrenches, chain tool, ti-raps, spare spokes, brake pads, tape. I always use tubes. Keep it easy so you can fix everything yourself when you are on the road. Are you still happy with your bike?
@@audreytracks Thanks, I don't bring spokes and brake pads. Spokes may be a good idea. Yes I am happy (1 year old), a bit deceived by the rate of punctures I had so I'll probably go tubeless. And I will add a tubus (or two).
I saw all the parts...right away I thought:"Where to start???" Well done. En het voordeel? Je kent je fiets tot op het duimpje...Stuur bevalt nog? De mijne rijdt sportief maar op lange afstanden krijg ik toch wat last van nek, rug en polsen. Mss heb jij betere ervaringen (-;
Afwisseling voorkomt tinteling in handen
Hi Steve, the parts i choose for my bike-setup is not the suggested parts from Surly. I have selected the parts for simplicity, durabiliy and price/quality ratio. The total cost of my bike is a bit more then the factory made bike. The handmade wheel where expensive.
@audreytracks I'd like to see a list of the components you used for the build. Going to buy my XL Frame this fall then start hunting for deals of the parts. Taking a bike maintenance course this fall so hope to use my bike build to test my bike knowledge.
I don't want a Rohloff hub. First of all it is way too expensive and secondly i have never had any problems with a derailleur. A Rohloff hub is not better in every way
@@audreytracks A Rohloff is better in every way. I'm an experienced touring cyclist and all tourers I know of, including myself , would NEVER return to a deraileur gearing after using Rohloff.
@@brianoreilly239 Rohloff has poor engagement, is overpriced, and heavy. So no, not better in every way. Its one of the worst hubs if performance on trail is a concern. They have their advantages. But they are hardly the best tool for everyone.
@@cjohnson3836 A Rohloff is only marginally heavier than a deraileur system and on a fully loaded tourer it hardly makes much of a difference. I've yet to meet a cyclist who after cycling with a Rohloff gearing system who would want to return to deraileur gearing.
I live here in the USA (which I am not liking because of how the people are) and a lot of them label my life a troll (in reference to your bike titled ogre)when I have been complying with the teachings of Christ.

Nice Job!! I have the Surly Bridge Club which I travel on - Surly are great bikes :)
The Surly Bridge Club was also a option for me but i liked the tough Ogre more.
Nice bike! I did exactly the same bought an Ogre frameset and built it up myself. 7 years later it's still a great and enjoyable bike.
Ogres will take over the earth.
Amazing Video! 😊

I have seen some of your video's. The colour is the same of the Ogre 2021. I agree that these bikes have something special. It's different and cool.

I would have opted for a Rohloff hub gearing , otherwise a good purchase.
