*What is neurogenic scoliosis?
Compared to a healthy spine, which can bend forwards and backwards, in the case of scoliosis the spine also bends to the side. Scoliosis (Greek: curvature) therefore refers to a three-dimensional axial deviation of the spine. Colloquially, the term "spinal curvature" is also often used.
Idiopathic scoliosis is most common (approx. 85%), the causes of which are still unknown. In contrast, the cause of neurogenic scoliosis is known. They are usually caused by an underlying disease such as ICP or myelomeningocele.
