Some people learn quicker than others, but it is rare. Some people are good at dry flies, but not very good at streamers, wet flies or nymphs. Choose one fly pattern and tie a couple hundred in different colors. (You can keep them for yourself, sell them or give them away as gifts.) High repetition will sharpen your skills! Good luck!
