It is really gratifying to watch a person of your generation get into this record which is an all time fave of mine. When music is as weird/unique as this I don’t really expect younger people to “get it”. And yes, King For a Day is also just as great. FNM are the Swiss Army Knife of rock bands and I love them for it.
Earned a subscriber solely based on listening to this album. Love seeing a reaction from a first listen as it was sooooo many years ago since this album was a fresh listen to me. Love the respect you give it. Listen to ‘King for a day’ its Mr Bungles guitarist with FNM but a brilliant album. Less keys as Roddy was dealing with issues but still another masterpiece.
Thank you, that means a lot! This album was just wild to listen to, I'm so glad that I've finally heard it. I still have Kindergarden on loop since filming. I will certainly plan on doing reactions to the rest of FNM's albums, I LOVED Angel Dust and can't wait to hear more from them!
Finally you react to the most influential album of the 90s. this album and bungle self titled album influnced nu metal. give this album another listen it gets better the more you visit tracks. :) enjoy it with a beverage. this music sounds not as new but in 1992 it was mind blowing. this was in a time in music when rock and metal were simple and not as diverse. after this more bands started forming such as korn, deftones, system, distubed, papa roach, etc.
Supposedly he has the biggest vocal range of any singer across all genres. It must be his really deep register he uses, mostly in Mr. Bungle, I feel like his voice doesn't get that high.
@@bestofa.q.p.1840 if you have only heard his faith no more stuff you would think he can't go higher than E6 but the highest note he has hit live is an D#7.Most of his nasty whistle tone screams and higher falsetto stuff are from his other projects like mr.bungle, fantomas, abraxas.
I remember reading somewhere years back I think an interview with Matt Wallace that Mike Patton's voice was so incredible that he could scream his balls off and yet still sing in perfect pitch without taking a break.
You made great reactions to Angel Dust and Dirt - those were the two albums that pretty much defined my sophomore year in high school! You've earned subscription! I love your unique reaction style - rather than take things a song at a time, you're going for the whole album. I can see how that may cost you viewers, because people really want to hear the whole song, but I respect you for it, because you're able to post reactions to so much more material for the people who know what you're listening to. You're staking out your own territory in the reaction space, and I appreciate it! On this album in particular; this is in my Top 10 albums ever. There are at least 6 tracks that I absolutely love, and maybe only 1 that I'm not a big fan of. For an album with 14 songs on it, that's an incredible success rate. I can remember riding with my friend, driving his parent's car, with the sunroof open at night, just blasting this album as we tore down the streets heading wherever we were heading! This was such an amazing follow up to the brilliance that was The Real Thing, and a forecast of things to come!
Thanks for the comment and glad that you're enjoying the video format! And yeah, Angel Dust is just fantastic. It's such a unique record and fuses so much on one project so cohesively. Can't wait to hear more Faith No More albums!
Hands down to one of the greatest albums in history, so much changed in scene after this masterpiece, you hear so much influence from it and from FNM in so many alternative Rock/Metal bands after it, established a new pattern to make Rock/Metal music.
Back when music was original, back when music was made properly. Angel Dust has a special place, it’s a masterpiece. Everything’s Ruined is the cherry on the cake for me Back in the 80s and 90s piano was a common feature in rock music, the band members were real musicians, many with proper training on various instruments. Look at rock bands now it’s really just as loud a guitar as they can possibly do through their entire album
jesus christ i really hate it when people fucking say that shit. And Im Gen X who actually saw FNM in concert a number of times, its just boomer or old man griping when you say dumb shit like" Back then when it was real music" just fuck off. You do our young generations a huge insult and its hypocritical that you are even here on this zoomers's channel with that garbage take
Awesome review! One of my all time favorites for sure! Fact: most of the lyrics from Land of Sunshine were written from “fortunes” Mike Patton found in fortune cookies.
Hi Molly, new subscriber to your channel. Love your intelligent, thoughtful , honest review of this record. You mention that you are "not a music expert" in your description, but you have a really great ear for the music you're listening to and you articulate your thoughts really well...Have checked out a couple of your other album reviews which are equally good. Keep up the great work !
So cool to see someone discovering this album, it’s legit one of the best and enjoyed hearing your analysis. I first heard it when I was your age and while I have aged aged a lot since then this album really hasn’t.
One of the highly influential albums that defined the sound/scene of the alternative/metal music throughout the nineties or in other words your favorite band's favorite band. A rollercoaster of awesome genre bending yet approachable music that still rocks today. Props for checking it out 👌
Really enjoy this video. It's worth noting that "Easy" wasn't the original last track of the album, at least in America. (The last song was the Midnight Cowboy instrumental.) However, "Easy" is at the very end of the UK version of the album, as sort of a bonus track. "Easy" was also released as a CD single in the States.
Absolutely keep on. King For A Day will blow your mind. Faith No More never stop evolving. Great reaction! When Angel Dust came out it was confusingly great and became an instant classic that shaped so much music that came afterward.
Faith No More are the best band ever! This album was the soundtrack to my childhood, my teenage years, and I’m still listening to it religiously now that I’m in my thirties! 😂
This come out in 1992 absolutely ground breaking and years ahead of it's time and too extreme for most of the fans they picked up on The Real Thing haha = the previous album, which is also great but much more accessible.
An absolute perfect album from start to end, one of the greatest album ever, not only in Faith No More's history but in whole music history either. Revolutionary, iconic, legendary!
43, this album is certainly my favourite of all time - as are the band. And I am really loving your channel, so many albums that define my whole last 30 years and my heart beats to their rhythms - keep up the great work Milly and thank you :)
It’s cool that you picked up one the theme of the album. The duality of being the opposite of what they sound like. Even the title Angel Dust is that way. Angel dust sounds magical, then you find out it’s pcp. The front of the record had this bird and it’s pretty nice looking, and on the back, a slaughterhouse.
We Waited a long time for this (lol). Hope you enjoyed and dive into their discography. Patton is a beast but i think Roddy the keyboard player doesnt get enough love from the audience. His sounds and samplers are a big part of the fnm style. Easy was a biiiiiig hit in Brazil and was the sound track to a soap opera.
This is great. I’m enjoying your perspective and I’m only seeing it because I’m constantly typing “faith no more Angel dust” in to UA-cam. Keep up the good work.
This is in my top 5 best records of all time. And probably one of the most influential ones too. Its a masterpiece. Good reaction, Molly. PS: oh, and btw, 09:57, that "slappy" tone to the bass you mentioned is actually a bass playing technique called ... slap, lol. Billy Gould, FNM bass player uses a lot.
Actually he didn't use it quite often, just on two or three tracks per album. And he stopped using it after this album. There are some tracks where it might sound like slapping (at least to me) however Gould actually plays them with a pick (e.g. "The Morning After").
It was really fun to watch someone go through this album for the first time. my favorite part was the seeming confusion about "Be Aggressive", the most straightforward song on the whole album. It was a very wholesome segment in the video :)
I love your channel! It really makes me appreciate a lot of the music I listen to daily again. A lot of it loses its edge after hearing it so much for so many years and your reviews just bring chills to my body for some songs and areas that always got me excited too!
This album and Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power were the two best albums of that year (1992) for me. I listened to them constantly that year. The last two songs on the album are covers. Midnight Cowboy is the theme song to the movie of the same name. The first and only X rated picture to win an Oscar. Easy was a cover of a Commodores' song and was originally released as as single along with a cover of the Dead Kennedy's Let's Lynch the Landlord.
Thoroughly enjoyed your review. I'm actually a little jealous, as I'd love to hear this album for the first time again. One of the benefits of being an old fart is that I bought this album the day it came out. I was a fan of their previous records, but I wasn't expecting the absolute god-tier level of genius of Angel Dust. Me and my friend Carl listened to the whole thing is complete silence and, when it finished and without saying a single word, put it straight on again. We listened to it again in complete silence and, by the end of the second full listen, realised that we'd just heard one of the greatest albums of all time.
Great review! I was in my early teens when this was released and everyone was crazy for nirvana and that kind of thing, everyone was trying to sound like them. And this comes out, wow these guys just totally doing their own thing. I liked it but didn't love it at the time but it really grew on me, it's now one of my favourite albums ever. I love seeing what people think of it today when first hearing it
A favourite, staple of mine which is why it was such a pleasure to watch your fresh take on this record. Faith No More are musical chameleons and were trolling people's expectations before we really knew what trolling was.
I enjoyed the journey and now am digging through the other videos! Mike Patton is my favorite artist and took me down a rabbit hole to so many new bands. This is an incredible example of what he can do in a "conventional" rock group. Some other bands with a similar vibe would be Twelve Foot Ninja and Thank You Scientist!
Thank you for giving a stage for one of the most amazing, diverse and prolific singers of our time. Also, huge props for keeping such an open mind about all sorts of music out there 🤟
When I first heard you say "this is a different sound" or "Mike's changed his vocals" I just thought 'you're going to be saying that a lot'. Great reaction to a brave follow up to their breakthrough album, each song brought something different to the album. The beauty of Faith No More is they could appear on a variety of compilation albums and not sound totally out of place.
I'm not usually massively into you tube blogger reviews... But I have to say that I really enjoyed this review of one of my most favourite Faith No More albums of all time, some may say arguably their best. I liked the way you described the sounds and feel and tone of the tracks and as your first listen I found it fascinating and agreeable. Thanks Molly! You should definitely delve Into their discography you've a lot to look forward to... 😉👍 I was surprised you didn't recognise the Lionel Ritchie cover 'Easy'.
"A whirlwind of sound going on in your head." Apt description for the entire album! Thanks for covering it. Cool to see you enjoying "Kindergarten" so much, too. There are absolutely no weak songs on this album, but that one has never been my favorite, in spite of my liking it a lot. Definitely love that bass solo. Hearing the album through new ears is always such a fun time! "Be Aggressive" has a colorful story, lyrically speaking. Look it up, but hide the children. 😁 20:51 "I am what I've done... I'm sorry..." I can't tell you how often I've made exactly the same face when I've listened to this on headphones. Their amazing cover of "Midnight Cowboy" is what first made me aware of the film, which also remains a favorite of mine. 30+ years on, this is still such a freaking cool album. My favorite since the day I bought it in the summer of 1992!
you've just listened to the most influential album in modern rock and also your look and the way you talk reminds me of people from 90s which fits the timeframe of when this album was released.
I find RV hilarious, it reminds me of the soundtrack to the underwater levels in classic Super Mario Bros XDDDDD But I also think that the rocky section towards the end is really powerful ^_^ My favourite song in this album is Jizzlobber, by far. His screams are breathtaking... I really like Faith No More, although I have to admit that I haven't listened to them in a very long time. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this one!

When music is as weird/unique as this I don’t really expect younger people to “get it”. And yes, King For a Day is also just as great. FNM are the Swiss Army Knife of rock bands and I love them for it.
Oh yes and there is some mad quality screaming on the track “Cuckoo for Caca”.
Mike Patten's Vocal range is awe inspiring he's definitely got some wicked ass talent!!! Enjoy getting into their twisted sounds!!! Peace✌
I love this album. Just in time for its 30th anniversary, too
You made great reactions to Angel Dust and Dirt - those were the two albums that pretty much defined my sophomore year in high school!
Good ear on catching the industrial influence on "Malpractice". Mike Patton said the track was inspired by industrial metal band Godflesh.
Back when music was original, back when music was made properly. Angel Dust has a special place, it’s a masterpiece. Everything’s Ruined is the cherry on the cake for me
Back in the 80s and 90s piano was a common feature in rock music, the band members were real musicians, many with proper training on various instruments.
You do our young generations a huge insult and its hypocritical that you are even here on this zoomers's channel with that garbage take
What a fantastic album!! Glad you finally got around to it. Love every track, but Jizzlobber is my absolute favourite. :)
Awesome review! One of my all time favorites for sure! Fact: most of the lyrics from Land of Sunshine were written from “fortunes” Mike Patton found in fortune cookies.
And questions from a scientology test
I've been collecting them for the last 30 years or so randomly
Hi Molly, new subscriber to your channel. Love your intelligent, thoughtful , honest review of this record. You mention that you are "not a music expert" in your description, but you have a really great ear for the music you're listening to and you articulate your thoughts really well...Have checked out a couple of your other album reviews which are equally good. Keep up the great work !
So cool to see someone discovering this album, it’s legit one of the best and enjoyed hearing your analysis. I first heard it when I was your age and while I have aged aged a lot since then this album really hasn’t.
Congrats on 17k! :D
One of the highly influential albums that defined the sound/scene of the alternative/metal music throughout the nineties or in other words your favorite band's favorite band.
A rollercoaster of awesome genre bending yet approachable music that still rocks today. Props for checking it out 👌
Such a great band.. Its so cool seeing someone react to this classic .... Brilliant Molly
Whoever showed you all these bands is a good friend 👌 👏
This is the first album i bought with my own money. My favorite band ever.
Please also do their other albums.
Me too, my first CD with my own money.
I love that you aren't afraid to listen to a song called "Jizzlobber."
Faith No More are the best band ever! This album was the soundtrack to my childhood, my teenage years, and I’m still listening to it religiously now that I’m in my thirties! 😂
Incredible review for my favorite band and album. Loved the attention to detail you put into this.
Wow thank you!! I really appreciate that, I hope I did this album justice with my reaction.
FNM my all time fav band. You are so lucky to get to listen to this album for the first time…I’d die to get that opportunity once more ❤️
It was nice to hear you highlighting Smaller And Smaller and Kindergarten, they are gems.
Yes, such a fantastic record! I'm so glad I've finally heard it. Glad you're enjoying the channel :D
@@mollyesanborn and sorry for getting name wrong, i blame predictive text!
Haha, no worries! :D
You have a very genuine quality about yourself and reviews -this album is one of the best albums ever bravo
Thank you, I appreciate that! And yes Angel Dust is amazing, I agree.
@@Pedroleum100 2 or 3 per album is quite a lot, no? Some bass players dont get even close it. I just love his bass tone, slapping or not. Hes awesome!
It was really fun to watch someone go through this album for the first time. my favorite part was the seeming confusion about "Be Aggressive", the most straightforward song on the whole album. It was a very wholesome segment in the video :)
literally.......
I’m old and you are helping me explore this band which I should know.
Man, I loved this video! Great formatting - great reactions!
i want to say thank you this reactions means alot to me.
Love how FNM’s use of keyboard added a whole new dimension to their songs.
I love your channel! It really makes me appreciate a lot of the music I listen to daily again. A lot of it loses its edge after hearing it so much for so many years and your reviews just bring chills to my body for some songs and areas that always got me excited too!
So glad to see you start this journey. I'm definitely along for the ride.
A top album from a top band, and a top review. Very cool!
Fr two best albums of 1992 dirt and core are more grunge but also great albums from that year
Ministry's album Psalm 69 came out that year too. A really incredible year and 3 of my favorite albums, pretty crazy
@@jh5131 hell yeah forgot about that album defiantly one of the best
Their was better shit out there than racist Pantera I was into getting incantation, Morbid Angel
@@jh5131 Street Cleaner, Hate songs in E minor , pure guava, independent worm saloon
A small victory!! So good, pay attention his lyrics are genius
Great Reaction! FNM's Angel Dust was released on June 08, 1992...Happy 30th Anniversary!!!
You got a touch of Patton in yer eye. Thx 4 this, it brings back a friend who s gone long....we did a comic on this cd. For weeks that is. Thx again
Great job molly
So fun watching you react to this crazy but awesome album!
Smaller and smaller is a masterpiece. Good choice Molly! ;)
FNM never disappoints! This is them at their creative peak and has remained such an influential album for the rest of the 90’s and beyond.
yeah. the only fillers on album are Caffeine and Smaller & Smaller, others are killer!
Fantomas ’Directors Cut’ is a fun listen and heavy af. You should definitely check that one out.
Great reaction. Love watching your reactions
Great analysis!!
Thank you! :)
One of my favorite albums still listen to it now. I love your take on this.
amazing album bought it the day it came out, keep it coming molly
Sublime Reaction Empress Molly!
I'd love to hear your thoughts on their album after this, King for a Day. I think it's really underrated and just as good as Angel Dust.
Absolute masterpiece of an album. Loved watching your reactions. Wish I could hear the album again for the first time....
So happy you're doing this!
I was surprised you didn't recognise the Lionel Ritchie cover 'Easy'.
A long time since I heard it, hearing you play bits reminds me I still love all those songs.
20:51 "I am what I've done...
My favorite since the day I bought it in the summer of 1992!
you've just listened to the most influential album in modern rock and also your look and the way you talk reminds me of people from 90s which fits the timeframe of when this album was released.
damn I almost forgot how good this album is, thank you, great vid as always
With regards to Mike Patton what should be next besides FNM and Mr Bungle?
Peeping Tom, Fantomas, Mondo Cane, Tomahawk or Dead Cross?
General Patton vs the X-cutioners or Lovage
It's such a joy to see someone enjoying such a great album for the first time =] thank you Molly for starting my day of so well ^_^
Definitely in the top 5 of all time 😎
You're amazing. such intelligent and smart to listen to the whole album and still understand It all. Amazing.
The strings in malpractice are a sample from Kronos Quartet / Allegro Molto
I find RV hilarious, it reminds me of the soundtrack to the underwater levels in classic Super Mario Bros XDDDDD But I also think that the rocky section towards the end is really powerful ^_^
My favourite song in this album is Jizzlobber, by far. His screams are breathtaking...
I really like Faith No More, although I have to admit that I haven't listened to them in a very long time. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this one!
Jizzlobber is a fantastic track, I agree. His vocals are crazyyyy.
One of my all time fav albums. Would love to hear you do “Nothing’s Shocking” by Jane’s Addiction.
You should react to their album King for a Day
Molly usually works through discogs in order when she starts a band so hopefully we will get there. I love that album also so I can't wait!
