It depends on why. If it’s a cultural issue within the company that’s not going to change so if that’s the reason, you will end up leaving within 6 months regardless of how much more they offer you. I would also argue if they valued you to begin with you wouldn’t be looking for a better culture or pay they would be taking care of you because they recognize the value you bring to the company. If it’s because you want growth or a new opportunity, that’s a good reason to stay IF they have something. Don’t accept a future promise, they either have it now or not and that’s okay.
@@penguin12902You are right and the research backs you up! 90% of those who accept counter offers leave within 6 months! If you find another job and you have working a long time chances are there is a valid reason you want to leave, don’t try to stay you are just delaying the inevitable!
Never take the counter. Ever. They're just trying to keep you around until they can find a replacement and fire you. Even if that's not the case you don't want to have to threaten to quit every time you ask for a raise. Never stay. Always go.
Playing with fire will get you burned every single time If you do this to your current employer, thos employer will keep you and the first opportunity to replace you they will take it and leave you hanging dry If you are in a place that's not valuing you then find another job period This "negotiation tactic" only works if you are irreplaceable and good luck with that in today's job market...
I would take the new job offer because I would already know that my current job wasn't willing to pay me my worth.

This. Never take the counter. 90% chance they're just buying time so they can find and train your replacement.
