- In this video I spent my last day at Fossil Falls beating the heat. I make up some lunch and chase the the shade. Then I move camp up to Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, California. I find a great camp among the giant boulders. I explore the area on the motorbike and check out the small town of Lone Pine.

Hello Brain, you have been on my mind lately. Hope everything is going well. It's been 3 years since I lost Guy and just recently found out that they did not open the campground and it has broken my heart. GUY worked so hard and was so proud that you came for a visit. I watch that video all the time. Also wanted to extend a invitation to visit with free accommodations in North Alabama. Love ya stay safe and keep the peace ✌❌❌❌

Thanks for sharing that video with us. Why was the campground closed? Were there new buyers that changed that? I’m sorry for your loss as he seems like such a great person.❤️❤️
The Campground closed because Guy died and his father lives in Hawaii and the sister and nephew have no intrest in hard work and responsibility. It is a shame and breaks my heart that the stress from the family business that we worked so hard for, ultimately lead him to a choice that I wish I could change. It's been 3 yrs and it feels like yesterday. I live in Alabama now and have heard it is up for sale. 💔

Lone Pine campground is the best camping in this area with a view of Mt. Whitney. It's at about 6,000 feet and is right next to Lone Pine creek, which runs year round from the melting glaciers further up the valley. The creek is stocked with trout by the forest service regularly and there is very nice hiking up the valley to Tuttle Creek, Whitney Portal, and Meysan Lake (about a seven mile hike). There's even an old stone cabin that is located in this very nice meadow area along the trail. My family camped there for years. Thanks for bringing back the memories for me. Another great video. You really do take us with you. It's like we're riding in the passenger seat. On behalf of a lot of us, know we appreciate your efforts. It' is a lot of work to film, edit, upload and all that. It's a LOT of work. It is a pleasure to watch and the scenic video and drone work is marvelous. Have you been to Ridgecrest, Ca? I lived there on base when I was in my teens. The scenery in this video is awesome.

I've been in Lone Pine California now for 2 months. It is so hard to leave here because of the endless opportunities to go exploring. I've ridden my motorcycle and taken my 4x4 truck deep into the back country to rock hounding and explore all these myriad old abandoned mine shafts, and ghost towns. Owen's Valley is just beyond amazing, and now I know so much about the area; when I come back I'll trek out to the thousands of places to check out. Keeping it Real Mr. Adventure Van Man Brian....I'll be here til middle of September I haven't a clue where to next....north probably but who knows. Hwy 395 is arguably one of the top 5 routes/drives in all of the lower 48 states....you have the highest mnt and the Lowest place, and Owen's Valley is the deepest Valley in the western hemisphere....all just a few minutes away from Lone Pine California....

Nice area, definitely hot season. That 395 very familiar, really nice once north of Ridgecrest. Lake Isabella, Kennedy Meadows, Owen's River Gorge, Lone Pine and Bishop. Safe Travels

Loved to see this area. Anyone looking for a beautiful adventure, the eastern Sierras ia the place to go. It is gorgeous. There something for everyone from extreme sports to just sitting in your chair to enjoy the veiws. Spectacular.

Along 395 from Kennedy Meadow to Mammoth Lake used to be where I spent most weekends and holidays for 10 years since 2007; Stayed at all the campsites, bagged many peaks, trekked a lot of trails, backpacked to lakes, snowshoed backcountry in winter. This video brings back fond memories……thank you Brian :)

Beautiful clip. Thanks for sharing. Brought me back to a time in the early/mid 60's at Joshua Tree National Monument. Back then it was all dispersed with no water and only a plywood pit toilet. We used to camp among the rock formations and as kids, scampered and climbed among them to places we never should have gone. Even slept in a cave there with my 2 cousins. Thats a story. Be well. Where you were pointing was Mt. Whitney - it is the tallest, triangular shaped mountain in the middle of where you were pointing. I was so happy to see that the Merry-Go-Round restaurant was still there until you got close and I saw "Chinese" written on the window, lol. Well at least the sign is still there. I went to that restaurant a few times in the early 80s when it was still the Merry-Go-Round. Have you ever gone up into the White Mountains across the way to see the ancient Bristlecone Pine forest? Anyway, lovely video again - the time-lapse on the cotton clouds was amazing as was the sunset.

Almost no snow on the mountains. We are in trouble. The drought is really hitting the eastern sierra.
Charles Quinn It’s not that unusual not to have snow on the Sierra this time of year, but the Eastern Sierra is always in a drought since most of our water goes down South anyway. 🥲
