It works like a magic on my Dell PowerEdge r610 with Raid 5 configuration. I had one failed Disk on the Raid. I replaced the bad disk and followed the instructions from this video. Now I am going to update my resume adding, I can fix a broken Raid 5. Ha ha ha, LOL
You got me into the MegaRaid utility but unfortunately mine says "No Configuration Present!" under VD Mgmt... Under Foreign View the drives are listed under Virtual Drives. I'm still hopefully the drives can be rebuilt without loss :|
I noticed at 3:54 it states 1 Virtual Drive(s) Degraded.... I understand Windows Server/OS will continue to load despite this message, but is this a concern?

After few months the drive 3 indicates predictive failure then i removed that drive while the other 3 was working properly which was 0,1,2. When i pull out the drive 2 while the server was running the server restarted then didnt boot. it is displaying "No boot File found". In raid utility (CTRL+R) that drive is showing missing in VD but showing in Foreign disk please help me what can i do as my server has most important data of the company i dont want to loose in any cost.

If you replace a failed disk with a second hand one you have to clear the foreign config off it rather than import it. You can do that with OMSA. If it was a new disk then import is meaningless as there is no metadata on it, normally rebuild is automatic but sometimes you have to set it as a hot spare.

What causes this to happen? I simply reseated a single healthy RAID 5 drive and then 2 drives went to foreign status??? Had to rebuild array.

So I had a drive go bad. I replaced it went into the bios to complete these steps, but Foreign Config is now selectable. Anyone have any thoughts?
