This is pretty. I started this as a baby blanket, but because the holes are two stitches wide, I thought it looked like baby's finger could get caught and perhaps bent backwards. I completed this through round 7 and use it as a hot pad. I will continue to do the "one-stitch wide" patterns for babies.

Maybe I should have kept going!! Maybe I will try stripes again another time!! Or use an ombre yarn!! We will see!! Thank you!!!

At the beginning of the square, you mentioned that the first chain space is only a ch1. This is because a ch4 is thinner than a dc. If you did a standing dc, then you would need the ch2. :)

the corner where starting a new round, could I SL in first St, then dc, ch2, 2dc
so when I come around to join, that first dc (before slip stitch) sits better before Slip into the starting dc ?
    wow difficult to describe

Craig at the beginning I find doing a chain 5 instead of chain 4 cause after a slip stitch in chain 3 that leaves a chain 1 not 2. I am making one now out the Mandala cakes yarn in color way by the name Unicorn.

I was wondering something. I’ve seen pictures of some granny blankets and noticed they look like they are leaning in one direction. People had commented that is because the work is not “turned” and is always worked on the right side. Yours doesn’t look that way so I was wondering what keeps yours straight?

  • @angelatemplin600

I am going to save this tutorial for future use. This will be my 2nd knitted project. Keeping it simple as newbie. Borders are 5 rows garter stitch and center is stockinette stitch. Your knitting has inspired me to learn at age 60. Thank you. Do you have any knit tutorials that are great for very beginners?
