  • I attended the long weekend of the WEC 6H of Imola, which took place from 19 to 21 April in Italy. The video is a mega highlight of these three days, culminating with the race on Sunday. Congratulations to the Toyota GR010 number 7 of the Kobayashi/Conway/De Vries crew, which, despite a thrilling duel right at the end of the race, managed to maintain the lead over its direct rivals of the Porsche 963 LMDh number 6 of Team Penske made up of the Estre/Lotterer/ drivers Vanthoor. Third place on the podium went to their teammates' other Porsche 963 LMDh, number 5, driven by Christensen/Makowiecki/Campbell. Ferrari is wasteful; there are no other words. Despite having the fastest car in the race (the best lap time was that of Antonio Fuoco, 1:31.794) and incredible domination of the top 3 positions in qualifying, they threw the race away due to a wrong strategy. The delay in changing tyres when the weather brought rain to the circuit meant that all the Ferrari AF teams and their 499p Hypercars were 1 minute behind their direct rivals. Incredibly, there is no differentiated strategy despite having three cars. Considering that the challengers completed an almost perfect race, it was practically unthinkable to close that gap. This was the case, relegating the best of the Ferraris, the number 50 of Fuoco/Molina/Nielsen, to fourth position. Those celebrating instead are the WRT team, which brings the BMW M4 LMGT3 to the top two steps of the podium. The category winner was car number 31 of Leung/Gelael/Farfus, who beat his teammates with car number 46 of drivers Martin/Rossi/Al Harthy. Third place on the podium for the Porsche 992 GT3 R of Manthey Pure Racing Team driven by Malykhin/Sturm/Bachler. A side note for the vast public: 73,000 visitors during the race weekend, a significant signal for a championship that grows year after year and is increasingly successful. Enjoy! 😉
Buona visione! 😉

Amazing video! It is always great to see these cars, although it is very disappointing to see how muffled some of these GT3s are (I cannot here the Porsche at all!??!). I am worried things will continue this way and every circuit will have Nordschleife esque noise restrictions

Thank you 🖐 As for the sound of Porsches, all enthusiasts have noticed they are silent, which is a real shame for a racing car. I don't know why they silenced them like this. The only ones you could hear were the Mustangs and Corvettes. The Aston's grumble is also very nice. The Imola circuit had a noise exemption for this weekend, and therefore, it was possible to exceed it. But I hope we shouldn't only expect quiet V6 turbo cars in the future...

Beautiful race , i was waiting for the wet running but i assume that will be in part 2. Seeing Vale on the podium was great to watch. And such a beautiful last lap pass by Antonio Fuocco to snatch 4th was wonderful . The Ferraris got caught out on the tire swaps due to rain, but Fuocca made up for it with the last lap heroics. (maybe they should have listened to Calado?) It was a shame the Peugeots were damaged early in the race, as I would like to see how the new car ( with a rear wing) goes in battle . Hi, I'm happy that you liked the video 👍 There won't be a second part; I didn't stay until the end of the race because, at a certain point, I had to leave to go home, but I waited as long as possible. Unfortunately, Ferrari made an unforgivable strategic error with all three cars, giving the victory to their opponents. Valentino Rossi and, in general, the two BMWs of the WRT team ran a winning race and were rewarded with the top two steps of the podium. Kobayashi and Toyota held the lead in the race until the end, while Fuoco gave his all, but the gap due to the delay in changing tyres was practically impossible to close. I need to see if I have enough footage to create a video dedicated to the Peugeot 9x8, which debuted with the rear wing at Imola.

Finally a wing on the Peugeot. Now maybe John Eric Verne can win a race instead of getting passed after leading the race because the car lacks down force. I was shocked they tried a wingless car in the first place.
I've been confused the past few years with Ferrari team principals. They have been off in F1 for a long time as well. I know they can't wait to get Hamilton in that car next year. Mercedes lost all their technical people to other teams so their car hasn't been good. I watched LeMans in car footage for 50 car then 51. The camera never shows an accurate picture; it does show how fast they are going though. I still remember driving at over 160mph in my 84' Corvette and running it around the Longbeach track. Your mind eventually speeds up. The feel of the car, sound and the rush of air is almost like you are in a different time or dimension. You can feel the car dancing in the air on the edge of flying. I know it's why racers race. The adrenaline is dumped into your system by the bucket full and you are super concentrated on speed.

The 963 was actually the MOST nerfed car by BoP in Quatar compared to the previous race, where both the Toyotas and Ferraris had way better pace. Just look it up for yourself: compare BoPs for both the races and you'll see.
They cooked compared to last year, simple as that. Penske is a very good team and the 963 always proved to have lot and lot of potential.
