      Not necessarily. Back in 83 to 93 I did time for drug related charges. I used to make more money than most of the prison staff selling food, mash, shanks, Tramp Art, plus repairing TVs-Radios-Fans.

      Knew a guy when I was in who had over 1 mil on his books. Was the dirtiest person in both units. No idea why though. They said he used to be a dr but I never wanted to dig any further.

      That is a good idea, however, this isn’t a privately owned facility.
      There are some prisons that are privately owned and operated, but most jails are run by the county’s elected jailer, elected magistrates, and elected judge executives.
      The deputy jailers (corrections officers/“guards” are hired by those county officials.

    I know a man who was sent to prison for selling drugs. He continued while incarcerated but used a bank account to have money orders sent to. He made so much money the first two years he was in he actually got an in-person visit from an IRS agent. The couldn't prove the money came from drugs but ended up taking about half for taxes.

    NO ONE should be able to bring ANYTHING into jails/ prisons. The exception are attorneys AND only paperwork. EVERYONE needs to be thoroughly searched just like the inmates are searched = NO EXCEPTIONS

    Commissary shouldn't be allowed in jail or prison inmates should only be given food water and clothing and shampoo and soap and toilet paper ..no cellphone no computer no radio Commissary can by a lot in jail but if the criminals don't have Commissary and are given the bare minimum to live day to day and not allowed to commit more crimes while incarcerated 😊
