A big issue imo with these leaderboards is it promotes making a high requirement run and locking everyone else out to both make your runs faster and potentially locking out your competition. You simply find one person who will pop hundreds of modded keys and keep them chaining in your runs. As most trying to compete noticed, a single discord basically had an infinite supply of -hp -dmg keys and would make highly exclusionary requirements that most people didn't even have the items they would risk losing in the first place.
I think this event should have been more like the remnants of the void event. Where it was a limited spawn In the realm, with significant damage and health debuffs, and also counted towards exalts. I felt very little motivation to run the rehearsal shatters.
You just reminded me about that event and you're so right. That shit was noob-incorporation done right. Get loot, exalts, and completes in general while having the added disadvantage of having tons of people not know what they're doing. It balanced out fr
Leave it to Deca to have two incompatible events going on at the same time (another example is having public testing and chest events going on simultaneously)
Remnant REALLY helped me learn how do the Void. I wanted to learn Shatters in the same way. Even though it was still difficult I got enough bridge sentinel rehearsals to be able to beat it in a normal dungeon but that is it. NO ONE did Twilight rehearsals. I have never even seen the boss
I'll be honest, despite getting the sentinel pet skin and super happy I earned it, that event was toxic. The entire week I spent running sentinel skips was stressful simply cause I felt I must use all my free time to grind, and that anytime I wasn't I was gonna drop out of top 100. By the end of the week I did 300+ sentinels and then skipped almost the entire event after from burnout. A more casual event like you suggested would be a nice welcome, but honestly the rehearsal needs tweaking. Three of the big problems is that 1. There S mods for the full dungeons that are safer (- 32% boss dmg and -45% hp) 2. You can't choose your specific practice. If I want to practice just Archmage or king, I have to hope for the right statue. This limits my practice time. 3. If you're going to make a rehearsal version of a dungeon, make it so you don't actually die. Even with the mods you need to bring good gear to clear it, so you essentially have to risk valuable items to get worse version of items that exist. Just like a rehearsal irl, the point is to practice and mess up so for the real deal you can perform. The rehearsals only grace is less time spent getting to a specific boss past 1st, which isn't much help when new players are still dying to mechanics that no mod will help them learn (crystals, start of carousel phases, bird spawns, bombs and spheres, etc.)
The biggest issue by far was having a regular shatters leaderboard running at the same time as rehearsal. It should have been a month later AFTER people had used rehearsals to get better at it, not during.
Honestly people who really want to learn shatters can do what I did and run them on testing with a couple friends. If deca really wanted to make a good *rehearsal* event why not make it the same difficulty but without the threat of death, of course with no loot besides pots maybe. Make it so you can’t die in it like the old arena thing was. They should also have not been in the realm like they were, with played having to choose between it and o2. Also the leaderboard event was a bad idea to run alongside this rehearsal event, even if I’m glad I got the rewards just no skins. It just made it competitive like you said and didn’t really cater to who the event was supposedly for. I also never even found out where I was supposed to check the leaderboard. The information wasn’t easily accessible even with ppl telling me where it was.
they should've made the leaderboaed count only for rehearsal shatters with a system were everyone above a certain point amount gets the titles and skins and make them either significantly easier by a massive damage cut so you can actually do mistakes or make the dungeon drop the same whites as normal shatters (maybe reskins), making them each grant one exaltation could've also made people run them. Like for real who wants to do a dungeon that can still easily kill you doesnt give the epic loot, no exaltations, doesn't count for the event and you'd basically have to solo duo or trio it in most realms
Gang signals, i know you can hear me ( I will watch your video from start to finish even if i no longer play video games any more you are still my favorite rotmg youtuber and you have so much potential : ) )
great video and i agree that deca dropped the ball with this event. Imo it should of been more along the remenents of the void. All the more casual players could finally do voids without going into discord calls. They should of done something along those lines but maybe a little harder because the void event was a little too easy imo.
As one of the top 100 players (96) I agree with all your suggestions. They totally should have done it loke that, and it would have been better overall. On the other hand, the way they actually did organize it benefitted me a lot personally so 💀💀💀
I would make the shatters rehearsals have unique worthwhile loot, like chest event dropping very good desireable items, being even better than regular chest events. Not just that, but maybe tokens of some sort, or unique new items
What if rehearsal was just a distraction for the insane amount of keys they managed to sell to competitive players? (imo, the leaderboard was the actual main even there)
Come to the latest season where everyone on leaderboard is a hacker for the solo dungeons, and Shatters rehearsal made a comeback but literally no one is doing it. Deca definitely learned from their past failures :)
I just checked the leaderboards and at least #1-3 are legitimate players. Though I'm not really interested in speedrunning events, I don't mind it existing as long as the rewards don't get too unreasonable. As for the rehearsal rerun, it seemed to get a lot of attention at least from key sales, and even CosmicTF got a rehearsal crown. I wouldn't really call it a failure, although I will admit it was strange to run it during another highly requested event.
i didnt even try to go in reheresal ive never done a shatters and i didnt know that they were supposed to be easier i was going for backpack from sewers
Running rehearsals felt like a waste of time when there was a leaderboard to compete for. I was actually planning on doing rehearsals until I learned they don't count towards the leaderboard. The few that I did run only a couple players would enter and either nexus or die early on.
A lot of people gone mad over appetizer event (definitely not me). in EUW there are always 6 realm, they close in 5 mins, and everyone was waiting outside
I played enough to get around top 800 on the leaderboard. That's with discord runs and some guild runs and it felt impossible to keep up. Think in total ran about 30+ shatter. 773 shatters is absurd
I had high hope in achieving that amazing queen skin, but there was no way to do so with how many hours you have to spend a day, especially for those who work on certain days (like yours truly...).
This event sure was a kind of a small mess. I can see a reason behind making an easy mode for people who can't bother to make new accounts for testing or can't do normal shatts without the small changes Rehearsal had, but it wasn't explained enough for idiots who dont check the blog posts that it was EASIER Shatts, and because most casual players being too shit/scared to even touch Shatts, that led to barely any Rehearsal being done. And god damn, having a leaderboards (FUCK LIMITED TO 100 PEOPLE ITEM COMPETITIONS) alongside that is a bad idea. But hey, atleast that was a great time for PPEs. I've did a solo Archmage on a decent going bard ppe with O1 tops and got the poison. Maybe the items are weaker, but they barely are. They're still good and usable. Maybe except armors and bracer tho
"Because most casual players being too shit/scared to even touch Shatts" you are aware this is a permadeath game right? And people I dunno, care about their characters.
dont forget how CLEARING was a part of the rehearsals. why tf would i want to do p2 generators and p3 tablets for whites that have absolutely no useage outside of collecting, esp when the mods on the dungeon are WORSE THAN WHAT MODDED KEYS HAVE
i think they should make an rework of the actual shatters as an easier version and make those rehersal the drop from it, to learn as an new player i think they should reduce the dmg from all mobs and shots to armor piercing 50 dmg and decrease boss health by 20% and as u said disable the keys from purchasing i think 50 dmg would still kill some players but it would increase survivability a lot so ppl can survive and actually learn instead of nexusing every phase
This is waay too late to be commenting and u prob wont see but i think that they should have added the leaderboards AFTER the qeeks of rehearsal. That way everyone learns and gets a chance to compete. Also make rewards more generous along with maybe a better top 100 reward like some realm gold. Not a limited time reward but still of value.
I've seen this suggested a few times. If Deca decides to do the Shatters Rehearsal again, they will most likely take the leaderboards after the rehearsal approach. But they also might never do rehearsal again, who knows.
yeah it made no sense. If i'm going to learn shatters its in a discord with a guy calling out the phases and a bunch of fungal tombs, marbel seals and paladin buffs.
Everything about this stupid game is TIME related and for a full time working human I can't be on the game during my few hours of free time a week... It's fun, but this event did in fact BLOW!

Thiiis, the void event was my favorite event ever, i’ve always wanted more of those for other dungeons
You just reminded me about that event and you're so right. That shit was noob-incorporation done right. Get loot, exalts, and completes in general while having the added disadvantage of having tons of people not know what they're doing. It balanced out fr

Everytime they close for reworks pls open testing as a mandatory thing

The link to the leaderboard was tucked away in the blog post, so I'm not surprised you couldn't find it.

Jad Cones my fav content creator
i didnt even try to go in reheresal ive never done a shatters and i didnt know that they were supposed to be easier i was going for backpack from sewers
We love shatters
Damn, I came back right after this event finished from a year long break, probably wouldn't have helped my skill level get any higher anyways.
rehersal shouldve spawned at the end of oryx 2, it didnt help that most rehersals tended to be with 1-5 realm bosses left
Actually really good idea.
I LOVE REHEARSAL CROWN

I was your 420th subscriber 😎
follow ZacharyCR and you can be my 15th :o
just add exalts to rehearsal and it will work
hello cad jones the best shatters runner
the real question is why did ondande sat on nycolas :whenondandegetsatyou:
Tfw it only had -20% modifiers and worse loot
This event sure was a kind of a small mess.

I was never the same after the incident
i think you should lower the music volume, its really hard to concentrate on what you're saying over the best soundtrack in the universe
