I think taking someone else's form is the one of the most overused plot devices in one piece.
In alabasta & impel down and now seeing the same trope being repeatedly used in wano and we STILL have catarina devon to go.
I miss characters using their wits to outsmart other characters like how akainu manipulated squard and ace in marineford, or crocodile's fail safes in alabasta.

Great Skull joke!! Brook is actually really powerful I mean he can basically hypnotize people with his music and then the ice powers on top of that. Like seriously though could he use that freezing technique anytime? If he's a soul you couldn't block it so that would be extremely powerful.

FUN FACT: Robin's last 1 v 1 was her versus yama in Skypiea. Original release date: February 17, 2003 that's right. it has been EIGHTEEN YEARS AND 5 MONTHS since Robin has had a dedicated one on one fight chapter.

Outside of the implied physical abuse (which to be fair isn't really a big deal in OP world, Garp physically abused the shit outta Luffy), Kaido's relationship with Yamato is strangely wholesome.

I love that Robin sort of grins when Black Maria insults Sanji, she's like lol he was adorable, and then Brooks like "well I can see you really want to handle this now, how about I clean up with distractions" all polite in the classic Straw Hats "I'll leave it to you then", and the "You don't need to know, how meaningful him relying on me is". Like on many levels. The Sanji who recently tried to sacrifice himself like she did for the good of the crew, the Sanji that is incapable of attacking or harming a woman, the Sanji who stands and fights along side their captain in all his strength. He's trusting her strength, he's not putting her in harm's way cause he believes in her and he's relying on her to do something dangerous that he himself cannot. Robin recognises this as progress from Sanji as well as her bond with the crew. And then The Wings of the Pirate King, a call back to when he carried Luffy after the Katakuri fight (for us) and maybe Robin believed that Sanji would be necessary for Luffy to get back into the fight (but I guess Momo will do that), More likely Zoro and Sanji are one wing each with their power, or if the crew becomes a wing each (currently 10). And Maria saying they abandoned her lol, they declared war on the world for her, they help her find the world's history as they hunt the one piece together. Abandon her? Shows who's dreaming.
Turns out the Robin fight that was shown in this chapter was actually an illusion shown by Maria specifically to Tekking... when in reality it was just several panels of the CP0 agents playing chess... without any dialogue... Honestly, I feel bad her illusions are truly unraveled... I wonder what the illusion was for everyone else...
May I assume that you experienced the same illusion as Tekking, possibly due to the courtesy of you simping for Robin in real life but very much like Brook you were able to see through it due to the constant misery of your simping proving to be ineffective in envisaging you and your favourite 2D waifu together?

Everyone saw Robin fighting black maria, because everyone wanted to see it
And as sad as their backstories are, it's genuinely so fucking heartwarming to see the two (Robin and Brook) bond over their trauma. They're not alone anymore and that's so fucking beautiful.
Using Olivia, Clover, and Saul was mean. *So* fucking mean.
And the reason it didn't work on Robin or Brook was so sad. Truly, they are the two in competition for most horrible crew backstories.
It really showed that even something like those illusions, which is one of the most cruel things somebody could do, meant nothing to Robin and Brook because they both probably have dreams of their loved ones all the time only to wake up realizing they weren't real. Brook for 50 years and Robin for 20. At some point they just accepted it and stopped believing in them, which is a very sad reveal for their characters.
I'd probably be more on the side of robin for most tragic backstory, for the fact at just 8 years old lost her mom, best friend, and fellow scholars in a buster call, yes she didnt really have any friends on o'hara beside saul and the scholars, but ohara was her home, and losing all that puts alot of trauma on you at that early an age

Japanese historian here, (though admittedly the Yamato era is not my exact area of expertise but I do know some stuff.) This was an era when the Japanese imperial court started to really emulate their counterparts in China to the point where they had open and friendly discourse between nations and it was seen as the height of culture to copy everything the Chinese imperial court was doing. As I'm sure most everybody knows, this friendly relationship did not last forever, but nothing does. It was also during this time that the first Japanese law code that we have evidence of was created by Shotoku Taishi. Fun fact, the Japanese government will occasionally hold polls of, "Which historical figure would you like to invite out for a drink?" This guy wins 99% of the time. It was also not uncommon during this era to see as many women on the throne of the emperor as men, (though it can really make categorizing them difficult because even if it's a female most of the sources refer to the sovereign regardless of sex as "emperor" and therefore male.) Oh and uh, as you might be able to guess, yes the Japanese capital at this time was placed in the city of Yamato, which was in today a part of Yamato Prefecture.) The capital hadn't even moved to Kyoto yet that's how far back we are. Well, at least I put my master's to use today.

Brook being immune to those kind of illusions because he spent DECADES alone after all his companions had died and he's just sort of gotten used to being disallusioned over their deaths.

I gotta say, Black Maria's attempt at psychological warfare was so ironic that it honestly just ended up hilarious. She lacks critical information.
Imagine thinking Sanji would ever sell out a woman.
Imagine thinking the Straw Hat Pirates would ever abandon a friend just because they were being pursued by a bigger and stronger enemy.
Somehow, in this story about Helicopter Triceratops, rubber kings, and giant ancient spider hybrids, Black Maria's accusations were the most absurd.
Between Who's Who dismissing fishman history and this, the Tobi Roppo seem to be made of One Piece arc skippers.
Remember, kids, don't skip One Piece arcs.

Now dubbed the newest yonko, Caribou laughs to himself about how it was all too easy. *Caribou has defeated Kaido.*

I read into Robins experience with the illusions as a feint by Robin, faking being fooled to get easy shots in. Fits into her calculating nature more, in my opinion.

Oda did a great job of developing Robin and Brook's character and making them look badass in one short chapter. Oh, and Sanji. So glad that interaction with Black Maria earlier on wasn't squandered and actually had a point.
Honestly when brook explained the reasoning actually makes sense since brook, based on what is shown, had to watch the remaining members of his crew die while they recorded bink’s brew

Black Maria's ability reminds me of the ability this sea horse had from that filler arc.
Where they just let people show up that are important to the person affected by it.
If anyone still is confused about Yamato's fruit just think about Garurumon from Digimon. Probably inspired by the same mythological creature.
Or Okami. Granted the wolf in Okami is Amaterasu the Sun Goddess, but still, I would think its a similar looking creature.
The scene where Black Maria accuses Sanji of selling Robin out made me think of a thought that came to mind after hearing about the chapter where he called out to her. Fans who theorized that he would never do that got so caught up in his loyalty to Robin that we didn't think of the trust and teamwork side of the relationship.

While it is a stinker we might not get a powerhouse like Yamato, I have been feeling like she was needing to stay after this arc anyways.
CP0 is still there, they know how to sneak into Wano. With Kaido eventually defeated, the WG will be quick to try and userp control of Wano while the country is weakened. Thus, I feel like Yamato will have to stay reluctantly and help prepare/protect Wano for the great final battle, like how Vivi stayed to help her country

@teslagod2003 unless Momo gets "matured" to an adult by Shinobu and somehow works a way to master his Devil Fruit, Momo will just be the "standing Shogun" and is the ruling figure in my mind. He's still 8years old.
And I feel that him getting matured to an adult and automatically masters his DF to be a direct counter to Kaido would be bad writting with all the struggles everyone else has gone through

I can't be the only one, but Brook jumped from comic relieve to one of my favorite characters within this chapter. Totally loved this one, Oda really is on top of his game atm

It annoys me a bit that Kaido and Yamato now had the same conversation at least three times.

And as much as I like Yamato, the character is in dire need of more than "I am Kozuki Oden", "I hate my father" and "I knew Ace".

The long awaited 1 VS 1 Fight is here. Looking forward to seeing Robin defeating Black Maria, I don't care how long I have to wait. Also, Black Maria's speech to Robin reminded me of something Robin herself said in Enies Lobby.
Fun Video Idea: What Persona Arcana would each of the Straw Hats be?
My suggestions are: Luffy is the Star, Zoro is the Strength, Usopp is the Magician, Sanji is the Chariot and Robin is the Tower.

How Brook didn’t go mental after those 50 years drifting through the darkness of the Florian triangle with the ghosts of his deceased crew mates is a testament to his mental fortitude. I wonder how come we don’t see this side of him more often
Probably because he doesn't want us to. Brook has this incredible darkness and sadness in his past, and he wants it to stay there - in the past. He and his crewmates used to be a merry band. I'm guessing him being goofy and happy, only getting serious when it's really needed is a way of honoring them. Least that's my take^^

I never understood characters being criticized by their feats or contributions , I don't believe any character is useless , I judge characters based on their personalities, my problems with nami and sanji are their personalities, but I wouldn't call them weak or useless .

I think Sanji being a gag or comic relief is getting boring. Ruins the character. He got all his wishes except for the All Blue. He has so much potential & he's one of the smartest people in the SH.

I still really think that the connection with Yamato eating a Devil Fruit from pure hunger, is supposed to be made with Ace and not Luffy, since Luffy more ate it out of frustration while Ace was literally starving.

I think it's more of momo's contrast. Just like Katakuri being the best version of Luffy, Yamato is the best version of Momo. Momo lacks the qualities of Oden whilst Yamato is kinda walking in the footsteps of Oden.
In the beginning talking about Oda being the greatest man. Your hands were moving so fast, so I can definitely tell you're excited to talk about it. I love the videos please keep it up

Just to add to the overall Robin badassery, can we talk about how she was able to hold Brook up on the ceiling for a "while longer"? Remember, according to data books and such, Brook weighs 100 kg! Yeah, he's a skeleton, but he's very tall! Also, I checked the panel and she didn't sprout extra limbs to hoist him up. Girl has some crazy upper body strength.

I believe that Kaido's right-hand man Kings race is that of a Kirin for 4 reasons:
1. the Kirin is terms of power is just that above the Phoenix explaining the fights between Marco and him
2. they appear at either the birth or a death of an illustrious ruler in this case the death of Shogun Oden
3. they are covered in a holy hellfire which explains away King's mystery flames
4. Although they look like beasts that are fierce and vicious, they are actually creatures that punish the wicked and evil, and guard the good and innocent. which ties into the speculation that King worked in Impel Down or worked as a judge on a courtroom ship like Jorge the judge who judged the shipweight Tom.

Considering we know that before the timeskip the Marines admirality all had eaten elemental devil fruits and we know that former fleet admiral Sengoku had ate the Buddha devil fruit what if the Inu Inu No Mi Model Oguchi No Makami previous user was a marine admiral killed by the Rocks crew at Gods Valley or when Kaido was on the rise as a pirate or was killed when Fisher Tiger invaded Mariejois and Kaido got it when he was imprisoned there.
I think they would have mentioned when an admiral died on god valley and it would be a strange coincidence when kaido randomly got the fruit of the wano deity and just hold onto it before he even knew that he will occupy wano in the future. And with that fruit he could have easily paid his debt to big mom considering that the fruit hadn't much value for him at that time.
And i doubt that fisher tiger was nearly strong enough to kill an admiral, i mean he got rect by strawberry who wasn't even a vice admiral back then.
Devil fruits can be sold at the black market. Your theories have holes. Big Mom gave Kaido's fruit to save his life so he wasn't in possession of the fruit. It's unknown if he was captured & imprisoned in Impel Down. He was captured & executed although ended in failure. ^^^ Also it would imply that Kaido orchestrated everything in Wano.
