Everyone kinda thought I was nuts when I started cobbling together various antennas out of my scrap and stuff from work (I was actually a cable tech for Charter for about 20 years...I didn't have cable at home...and I built stuff with my scrap for fun.)... Until they saw me pulling tv out of thin air. ... Then they kinda went "oh, neat, it works" ...and didn't really care... lol. But I love building antennas out of stuff. Nice videos on your channel! I like your testing video for the reflector too. I'm pretty lucky where I live, I can get the good channels with a paperclip if I want to... so basically any antenna I build makes me look like I know stuff. But still... I can tell when I get the fringe channels. It's just...fun. Kinda feels like magic too. Cheers buddy, glad I found your stuff!

    Danny you are a genius!
I live 60 miles away from one set of towers to the North and 55 miles from another group to the South East.
I had a big honking antenna up and it was doing ok, but not great. I got 11 channels and they were in the 70% strength area. I ran across your videos on the Ultimate Antenna and thought I would give it a try. I had scrap around the house to make the entire antenna except for the Transformer - $3.50 total cost.
I put it up today and WOW!!! I still got the 11 channels but they were at or close to 100%. In addition, I added 12 more channels and they are between 75% and 60% signal strength.
I put a wire reflector on the antenna and have it pointing North. It also picks up the channels from the South East towers. Amazing!
This antenna has a tiny footprint compared to the big lunker I took down and a lot less wind load.
I am telling all my friends and giving them a link to your videos.
    Thanks and Good Job Danny!!!

I really love your videos. Informative, interesting, educational and entertaining. You are so right about the looks of the antenna and your appearance on the job. People judge most stuff by sight. Unfortunate but true. I've worked in installation work before I retired and I guarantee everything you said is true!
You have good insight into marital harmony too. I'm from South Mississippi myself and I love your accent. I'm retired and this might be a way for me to make a few dollars to help with living expenses. Lord knows the social security retirement check is barely enough.
So glad I found your channel, even if I never do sell them, I've really enjoyed watching your videos!
You have a really great attitude!
God bless you in all you do!

Hey Danny, I got an update on your/my antenna, it will kick ass, I dont care if it looks like a train wreck at two thousand feet, it works, it works,it works. I have a antenna from ANTENNA DEAL. I paid fifty bucks for and is twenty feet in the air, amplified, and it cuts in and out in the daytime, your antenna is strapped to a post on my porch at 7 feet , no amplifier , and it works like a "SPOTTED ASS APE". THIS MY FRIEND IS A "ANTENNA DEAL". THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP FROM S.C.

I wonder... does mercury help any at all, on an antenna?? JUST curious. That substance seem almost magical at times... Just curious. : ) I'll watch and see... Thanks for sharing!! Cheers and a good day to you, sir!! : ) -EB

I could pull up a chair by you and listen to you for hours, because you are a genuine person, your not a phony.
I am terrible around social gatherings, because I can't be phony and can't stand phony people.
The problem is, people, specially city people tend to be phony, its a sort of a defense mechanism. Now i am a city guy, grew up in NYC and always wound up in fights , defending myself, because i could not dress, talk or act like the tough or cool kids, its just wasn't me.
Now to the topic at hand, lol. Your antennas are Omni directional is that correct? As Directional antennas are usually horizontal, right?
in my research, it came up that directional antennas where suppose to be the best, due to less chance of interference and better for boosting as you're pointing directly at the tower. If not what is it that gives your antennas the edge?
I am trying to determine what kind of antenna to get. there are two towers in different directions, so i was planning on getting two directional antennas, point one at each tower.
    What do you think?
And remember if your drinking to forget, make sure you pay in advance, lol.

    Danny,...
A few days ago you asked about day and night reception,.... I was just reading a hundred year old book that talked about it and this is what it said,...
sunlight has the effect of reducing the power of electromagnetic waves,...a greater force is required to produce a given result by day than by night,....that was from marconi in 1902 and still true today,...
robert in niagara falls wanted to answer your question about this,....more details are available but I am sure you get the idea that the light waves supresses the singal with their own vibration etc etc etc,...

So you know a lot about spark gap transmission of radio signals at very low frequencies. Do you read Morse code as well as they did in 1902 On the short wave bands what kind of traffic do you hear,

Good question... Now its my question too and i will ask more:
Is everything you said are good in my country too about the length for the antenna build to get station? Cuz if i could
get 200 miles OTA i would be able to get stations near new york and thats very better than what stations can give here.
Quebec have around 8 channels and theye dont worth the work but i know USA have almost 10 times that count lol
I saw some youtuber from Montreal showing theye were able to get New York stations but their build are shit here.
By the way could you tell me what kind of antenna i should build\buy to get 200 miles + ?
I rather like to build it if it is better than what we could buy from the store as i learned around the WWW if that was correct.
Im in Canada in quebec,(my city___Trois-Rivieres)... i must say quebec cuz there we are 7million only but maybe 4 million frenchy.
Talking english here is only good for 1 city(Montreal) and that city is garbage to me.
That is stupid cuz most of my kind doesnt want to learn english and that make my country isolated from the rest of the continent.
I know last info are not usefull but have to say it.... that make me feel better. XD
PS: sry if i made some misstake, english is my second language and i cant pratice very much

okay Danny West here again I'm in Corpus Christi Texas tonight with an antenna approximately 13 feet in the air I turned it from my local stations North to Victoria Texas 81 air miles away and I'm getting about five stations in and out simultaneously on the other side of the antenna it has no reflector I'm getting Brownsville and Rio Grande Valley which is 135 air miles away... Love the test. here's my question if I build a side by side when heading to the West and one North and South West to local stations north and south to Victoria Texas and Brownsville Texas and I do the coface harnessed through a splitter a balun on each antenna naturally have to be exact in length now if I put a booster on the North and South antenna will that interfere with my West antenna. you and I both know the coax length has to be identical for the co phase harness AKA split coax will the booster cause a problem timing-wise with the two antennas. From what I understand happens if your coface harness is not the same length the signal hits the TV at a different time and confuses the TVs ability to decipher the HD code. so if you follow me if one side of the split has a booster they're not identical. I know this is a tough question because you probably not tested that specific thing but I think that would be a hell of a cool test with your golf cart and trailer.

Danny - we have been doing some more testing of the Ultimate antenna and we stumbled across an article about matching transformers not stated not to use them because it only makes things worse. Have you done any testing and if so what was your results?
    here is the article: blog.solidsignal.com/content.php/2005-Using-Matching-Transformers-Baluns-and-Chokes
"If we're using a dipole antenna (bowtie antenna) which is a 75 Ohm antenna, no MT is needed to match the antenna to the feed-line and, if used, it will only make matters worse."
we did remove the matching transformer and we did see some channel improve while others stayed the same. HOwever, nothing went down in quality.
