Danny, for convenience you are designing a quarter wave antenna. You are compromising a little bit for a convenient length. A half wave antenna would be too large to handle. if you look up the required length for the low VHF channels 2-6 (55-88 MHz) the antenna length required will be 80.16 inches total or 40.07 inches for each side of the dipole antenna. For the high VHF channels 7-13 (174-216 MHz) you need an element 28.56 inches total length, or 14.28 inches for each side of the dipole. The longest section for channel 14 (470 MHZ) in the UHF band should be 11.94 inches total, which should be 5.97 inches for each of the dipole sides. The middle of the UHF band is channel 32. (578 MHZ) the overall length should be 9.7 inches, and 4.84 inches for each end of the dipole. Your shortest UHF element (596-656 MHz) for channels 35-44) the length should be 9 inches total, or 4.44 inches on each side of the dipole. I hope this helps.

I use an over the air antenna and stream video at my cabin. I cut the cable ( Direct TV ) over a year ago. I wish I had cancelled Satellite TV years ago. Saving $1500 a year from what I had been paying for Direct TV for years.
Danny I received the VHF add on today quick shipping! I was disappointed when I opened up the box as the RCA VHF UHF combiner and the two cables was not included in the box and it did say it was included in the video. Please respond
Thank you very much for explaining and teachings what you know about antennas. I’m thinking of building your ultimate and maybe the double version. My question is- instead of PVC tubing, can I use aluminum tubing? I was not sure if the conductivity of the aluminum would hurt the performance. Thanks for any input. Dan our of Arkansas
The repack is not getting rid of low VHF, it’s getting rid of every channel above 36. It just happened in my market. We already had low VHF, and they didn’t move.
These DIY antennas will work better than anything you can buy from any Antenna Manufacturer. I live in a rural area in a valley behind mountains and my DIY antennas has worked better than the one i bought that was supposed to have a 70+ mile rating. Don't buy into the hype but research and build your own.
How is a man going to teach about TV antennas on UA-cam and not show a TV program that's coming in? Sometimes i think they go over board on those copy rights laws!
I got a Fire stick going to download those movie apps! I just don't understand how cable and satellite companies get us to pay big money for service and then we have to watch 7 to 9 minutes of commercials for a 30 minutes show?? Don't they get paid (the networks) to run those and then they pipe that junk into my head telling us we got to have this or that? They can kiss my back side! LOL I don't have cable just because of this. I understand you get a ton of channels and it's nice to have the option. I've had cable and satellite both myself but man they keep raising the price till now it out of hand for me anyway. The networks charge the cable companies to rebroadcast what we can get for free with an antenna???? Sorry on my soap box!
Your absolutely WRONG and are feeding people incorrect information. Look at all the uhf/vhf antennas designed by real engineers and do not require two baluns or a combiner.
